Traveling Bodies: Bodies and Corporeality in Travel Literature

The project “Traveling Bodies: Bodies and Corporeality in Travel Texts / Reisende Körper: Körper und Körperlichkeit in Reiseliteratur“ is funded as a Research Network by the German Research Foundation DFG (2022-2025) and coordinated by Professor Uta Schaffers (German Department) and Professor Nicole Maruo-Schröder (Department of English and American Studies). The work of the international and interdisciplinary network focuses on traveling as an embodied practice. It is the aim of the network to contribute to the scholarly work on travel writing by putting an emphasis on the concept of the body as medium of self and world exploration and the embodied nature of travel experience from the perspective of literary and cultural studies.
