Many rural communities in sub-Saharan Africa still lack clean water for basic needs such as drinking and washing. Even where water points have been constructed, many break down prematurely or provide inadequate, seasonal or poor quality water supplies. While techno-managerial factors are relevant in explaining these problems, attention needs to be paid to the institutional and political-economic dynamics shaping policy outcomes on the ground. This study examines the political economy of rural water supply in Ethiopia, using a literature review and interviews with government staff and water sector stakeholders to unpick systemic obstacles to sustainable access to water. It reccomends that sector stakeholders: inform and build on the 2018 National WASH Inventory, invest in water resource mapping and monitoring, support legalisation of Water and Sanitation Committees and aim to improve accountability, leverage drought events to reframe the conversation.

Non-financial reporting may include: a review of the company's business and the principal risks and uncertainties it faces, the company's corporate governance (for example diversity on boards), their environmental behaviours, corporate social responsibility. This research, commissioned by BEIS and conducted by PwC, examines stakeholder perceptions of regulations comprising the non-financial reporting regime in the UK. The report outlines the results of stakeholder interviews and a survey of companies to explore the impact of the regulations. It identifies: costs and benefits of the current regime, potential avenues for its development.

This applies to both the reporting and management perspectives. In this context a trend towards integrated reporting and integrated management is noticeable. The current literature on accounting focuses in particular on the (capital market) effects of voluntary disclosure of nonfinancial information. There is, however, a research gap, in terms of positive internal effects, e.g. in form of an enhanced internal decision making process. Another research gap appears in the regulatory field, particularly regarding the effects of mandatory nonfinancial regulation. Both research gap areas are covered in this book with special emphasis on stakeholder orientation and communication. The analysis of internal effects is conducted via a structural equation model, the effects of regulation are acknowledged by the conceptual development of an event study by Berndt et al. (2018)

This often means balancing a diversity of interests that can, at times, conflict. The corporation as an input-output entity has transformed into an actor in a network of collaborating entities. To legitimize their existence, organizations need to create and distribute value to their stakeholders. Defining who gets what part of the value created at the end of the day is not straightforward, but it is an essential management task. Research regarding employees has found that achieving organizational justice for employees is essential for motivating them to contribute to the value creation of their employers. Researchers increasingly refer to the concept of organizational/ distributive justice regarding stakeholders despite the fact that no research so far has analyzed what it means to achieve distributive justice for all stakeholders. This dissertation applies stakeholder theory to analyze how organizations create and distribute value to stakeholders to achieve organizational justice for all stakeholders. The first section of the dissertation consists of a theory review of concepts connected to balancing stakeholder interests in the strategic management context. The reviewed concepts include research on stakeholder theory, organizational justice and management prioritization. This section lays the groundwork for the subsequent case studies and the research findings. Second, the empirical section builds the core of this dissertation. Using a comparative case study approach and the critical incident technique, two distinct cases are created to identify simple rules of how organizational justice is achieved in organizations. The first case covers the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), a humanitarian organization that operates in a very fragmented and dynamic environment. The second case covers Schindler, a very renowned

Assumingly very few sectors of society can avoid the digital transformation, which has been storming in the recent years. Despite of the digitalization being a global mega trend and an essence to survive in the modern world, it seems that many entities are still struggling in initiating the transformation process. Instead of dabbling alone to realize big changes, many actors have noted the strengths of co-development through ecosystems. A digital university campus where education and research of the highest class are conducted together represents an important arena for digitalization. This paper introduces research conducted to constitute an ecosystem to realize a digital university campus that is built on the latest communications infrastructure. To start the change process, it is consequential to recognize the stakeholders to define the requirements and targets of the transformational evolution. An analysis of the internal and external stakeholders of the digital campus is introduced based on interviews and discussions. Considering the 5G, IoT, MEC and cloud technologies to comprise the fundamental base of digital campus, a key topic in this research is to evaluate the model of operating and developing the digital infrastructure and services. Among the traditional actors of IT Administration and mobile network operator (MNO) a novel approach is introduced by examining the recent research outcome, which defines a local micro operator driven ecosystem to provide services through a local 5G network.

In a world of increasing complexity, politicians have only limited information about the relationship of policies and the outcomes. They often make use of simplified heuristics, i.e. policy beliefs. Hence, an influence opportunity for interest groups occurs: informational lobbying. It complements classic lobbying strategies, e.g. vote buying or campaign spending. Providing expert knowledge allows interest groups to influence legislators towards the preferred policy position. Aside from so-called "approved votes", German parliamentarians generally follow parliamentary group’s discipline. Thus, experts' role within parliamentary groups is crucial. They deal with key issues and represent the parliamentary group in the committees. Furthermore, they work out the group's positions on these specific issues. They are the starting point for interest groups to disseminate their information and hence influence the legislators' positions. An exemplary field of complexity is the agricultural sector. In particular, livestock production is challenged by questions of sustainability, i.e. public expectations towards animal welfare, producers and consumers' welfare as well as ecological consequences. Importance of animal welfare is demonstrated by the ongoing debate about piglet castration or husbandry system standards. This raises two questions: First, to what extend are stakeholders able to gain direct access to politicians? Second, how can they use this structure to influence policy decisions? Using a social network approach, we first investigate the structure of three networks: exchange of expert knowledge, political support and informal social ties. In particular, we put emphasis on the connection between parliamentary actors and other stakeholders from society, i.e. interest groups. This refers to the first question. Second, we apply a model of political exchange using information and lobbying networks. Following Henning et al. (2019), this model not only includes political exchange, but also belief updating. Moreover, it considers direct as well as indirect ties. This analysis step serves to answer the second question.
