Screening and narrating maternal choices in contemporary Italian and transnational context/s (AAIS 2022, Online)
This panel aims to examine how contemporary Italian and transnational works of cinema, literature, and theater portray women’s bodies, behavior, and identity when maternal choices and reproductive rights are at stake. We welcome papers that investigate a variety of crucial topics that include but are not limited to maternal desire, infertility, assisted reproductive technologies, surrogacy, abortion, childbirth options, and examine how women face and defy societal expectations.
This session’s format is virtual. Papers can be presented in English or Italian.
