Hodge is a psychiatrist practising aversion therapy to rid his patients of sexual or romantic preferences that interfere with their lives. But he falls in love with Ellen, a patient he's treating who is in love with Kevin, a homosexual man whom Hodge is also treating. His medical interfering produces unexpected results when Kevin's disapproving brother, Robert, switches the cures so that Kevin falls in love with Hodge and Ellen ends up despising all men.

The play is composed of a series of brief dramatic sketches, each with a headline-style title that 'must be clearly displayed or announced'. The titles refer to contemporary world issues ('The War in Bosnia', 'The Northern Ireland Peace Process', 'Genetic Engineering'), but have no discernible connection to the largely domestic scenes to which they are attached.

The play is in two parts, each set in a living room. The two living rooms have identical furniture but are in different countries. In each part a family gathers as a young man goes off to war. Each family, locked in hatred, tries to come to terms with the war taking place around them and on their TV screens. The same six actors appear in each of the parts, playing different characters but with some lines of dialogue from the first part repeated in the second. In both parts a troublesome child is locked in a room; in both, one of the characters is drinking too much, and two others are having a clandestine affair.

Ruby is dating Colin. He thinks she runs a travel agency and she thinks he runs his own media company. Unbeknownst to Colin, Ruby is in fact part of an elaborate financial con. What she doesn't know is that Colin is in fact unemployed and has an acrimonious relationship with his ex-wife, Lena. Over four succinct scenes, the play depicts an amoral world where money is all and lies are the only truth.

'Lives of the Great Poisoners' is a multidisciplinary theatre piece with elements of text, dance and song on the theme of history's most infamous poisoners. The play has three parts, each featuring an infamous poisoner: Dr Crippen, who was hanged in 1910 for the murder of his wife Cora; Medea, the mythical figure who killed her ex-husband Jason's new wife with poisoned robes; and Madame de Brinvilliers, the notorious 17th-century poisoner who learnt the tricks of the trade from her lover. The three stories are linked together by the figure of Midgley, an American inventor and industrial chemist.

People live in one-room cellblocks in the London of 2010. Outside, the air is thick with smog and thronged with dangerous citizens referred to as 'fanatics' who frequently kill themselves and others in random attacks. Vivian, who is married to somebody else, wants to move in with Mick, a man old enough to remember when it was safe to walk around in London, when there were still birds and when you could procreate without a license. Mick yearns for a cottage in the country. Maybe his son Claude, a celebrated musician who is coming to visit after several years, will find it in his heart to help.

Caryl Churchill's radio play 'Schreber's Nervous Illness' is based on Memoirs of My Nervous Illness by former judge Daniel Paul Schreber, who spent ten years in asylums as a schizophrenic and wrote his memoirs there. The play charts the progression of Schreber's nervous illness through his own testimony, with interjections from his psychiatrist, Dr Weber. Schreber believed that God was trying to transform him into a woman and that his mind had become a battleground between the forces of light and darkness.

But, after agreeing to meet Cliff, a long-time fan of hers, she senses that something is not right and begins to fear that her powers are waning. Is this the result of meeting Cliff? Caryl Churchill's short play 'The Hospital at the Time of the Revolution' is based on Frantz Fanon's classic analysis of colonialism and decolonization, 'The Wretched of the Earth'. The play is set in the hospital at Blida-Joinville, Algeria, in about 1956, during the country's struggle for independence from French colonial rule. Frantz Fanon is head of the psychiatric department at the hospital, treating both oppressed and oppressor. A civil servant presents his psychologically disturbed daughter to the hospital for assessment and insists on her admittance. An inspector demands treatment for his helpless violence against his own family. And three in-patient revolutionaries are delusional and paranoid.

A Judge passes a harsh sentence on a young man, the violent revolutionary Vernon Warren. Warren's brother, Michael, kills the Judge in revenge. Caroline, the Judge's wife, explains her husband's reactionary behaviour, seeing his death as 'his way of committing suicide'; deliberately making himself a parody of a right-wing bigot, thereby giving his life for the oppressed, for the revolution.
