Wie werden aus ganz normalen jungen Männern Massenmörder? Warum töten ehrbare Familienväter Tag für Tag, jahrelang, Frauen, Kinder und Babys? Warum verweigerten so wenige den Befehl, obwohl es ihnen freigestellt war? Das radikal Böse beschäftigt sich in einer stilistisch innovativen Herangehensweise mit den systematischen Erschießungen jüdischer Zivilisten durch deutsche Einsatzgruppen in Osteuropa und der Suche nach den Ursachen des Bösen. Wie hören die Gedanken der Täter aus Briefen, Tagebuchaufzeichnungen und Gerichtsprotokollen, sehen in junge Gesichter, Projektionsflächen für Assoziationen und Erkenntnisse. Ergänzt mit historischen Aufnahmen, den Aussagen renommierter Forscher, wie Père Desbois, Christopher Browning oder Robert Jay Lifton, und den überraschen Ergebnissen psychologischer Experimente führt der Film hin zu "dem radikal Bösen", einer Blaupause des Genozid.

    Cette thèse, conçue comme un voyage à travers l’œuvre de D.H. Lawrence, se propose de montrer la place des années « mexicaines » (celles passées au Nouveau-Mexique et au Mexique entre septembre 1922 et septembre 1925) dans le parcours de création de l’écrivain. En effet, les voyages et la dynamique de la quête informent la production artistique de Lawrence, qui, toute sa vie, n’a cessé de chercher le territoire idéal où une humanité régénérée pourrait, en contact avec le cosmos, échapper aux maux de l’ère industrielle et retrouver une relation authentique à l’autre. L’étape mexicaine a été particulièrement importante dans le parcours de sa pensée et de son écriture. Les civilisations indiennes d’Amérique, qui ont un autre mode de vie, une autre conception du temps et du rapport à la communauté et au divin, fascinent le créateur. Les rencontres et les expériences inédites de Lawrence en terres mexicaines stimulent son imagination et suscitent la production de nombreux textes, souvent déroutants. Pour en montrer l’originalité et la pertinence, ce travail les met en regard de trois autres types de sources : le reste de l’œuvre lawrencienne, antérieure et postérieure à la période mexicaine, les textes d’autres écrivains britanniques qui ont voyagé au Mexique, et les écrits d’auteurs mexicains. Grâce aux multiples voix et devenirs-autre qu’ils laissent s’exprimer, grâce aux diverses interprétations qu’ils permettent, les textes lawrenciens nous font voyager, au-delà des terres mexicaines, vers un autre univers, celui de tous les possibles, qui n’a de frontières que celles, ouvertes et mouvantes, de la création, voyage artistique et spirituel This dissertation has been conceived as a way of travelling throughout D.H. Lawrence’s works and it tries to demonstrate the importance of the “Mexican” years (those spent in New Mexico and Mexico between September 1922 and September 1925) in the process of their creation. Indeed, Lawrence’s writings were shaped by the dynamics of his quest and his travelling around the world. All his life, he has been looking for the ideal place where regenerated human beings, in contact with the cosmos, could escape from the evils of the industrial age and rediscover an authentic relationship with the other. The Mexican period played a significant part in the evolution of Lawrence’s thinking and writing. Indians civilisations in America favour another way of life, another conception of time and of the relationship with the community and the divine, all of which fascinated the artist. The people he met and the things he experienced in Mexican lands stimulated his imagination and inspired many rather disconcerting texts. In order to show how original and relevant they are, this study compares them with three types of sources: the rest of Lawrence’s work – before and after the Mexican years –, other texts by British writers who also travelled to Mexico, and books by Mexican authors. Lawrence’s writing, which leaves a space to the expression of otherness and allows various interpretations, has the readers eventually travel further than the Mexican lands. It brings them towards another world where everything is possible, since its only borders are the shifting, open lines of creation – an artistic and spiritual journey

    On considère souvent que la modernité poétique se caractérise par une tension vers le silence, l’effacement, la fragmentation. Or certains poètes français de la seconde moitié du XXe s. revendiquent explicitement le désir et le droit d’une confrontation au grand Tout, dans des œuvres élaborant, selon un héritage romantique, diverses stratégies de totalisation poétique : ainsi, en particulier, d’André Frénaud, Patrice de La Tour du Pin et Pierre Emmanuel. Sous cet apparent anachronisme de leurs œuvres se laisse en réalité lire une tension, où s’exprime la dualité sémantique de la notion de totalité – entre intensivité et extensivité : le Livre total prétend-il au pouvoir de ramener le multiple à un Tout homogène, ou s’ouvre-t-il à tout sans nier l’infini ? La rupture instaurée par la Seconde Guerre mondiale exacerbe cette incertitude : elle jette en effet le doute sur l’ambition de totalité qui, dans sa dimension intensive, court un risque d’ordre totalitaire – celui de la parole définitive qui nie le reste du monde. Loin de rester aveugle à un tel risque, les trois poètes en question l’exposent : la tentation du tout se trouve limitée par la singularité irréductible des êtres et des choses. Subissant alors une détotalisation due à la crise axiologique d’une posture énonciative compromise, les œuvres acceptent la blessure de l’altérité qui les fragmente. Parce qu’elle fonde sur une éthique de la relation la possibilité de jouer librement le jeu de la multiplicité extensive, la poésie réinvente son droit, sans doute précaire, à se développer comme dynamique de totalisation : l’œuvre existe dès lors pour aboutir au monde Poetic modernity is often said to be typified by its inclination towards silence, self-effacement, and fragmentation. Yet some poets belonging with the second half of the XXth century explicitly claim their desire and their right to confront the Great Totality. They do so in works that elaborate various strategies of poetic totalization in keeping with a Romantic tradition : that is particularly the case of André Frénaud, Patrice de La Tour du Pin and Pierre Emmanuel. In spite of their apparent anachronism, their works actually imply a tension that expresses the semantic dualism of the notion of totality, between intension (wholeness) and extension (allness) : does the whole-inclusive and self-contained Book ambition the fusing of multiplicity into a homogeneous whole, or does it open up to every thing without denying the infinite ? The breaking off induced by World War II enhances this problem, questioning the ambition of intensive totality and its inner risk of totalitarianism : that of the final Word which denies the rest of the world. Far from being blind to that risk, the three poets we study exhibit it. The temptation of totality is consequently checked by the irreducible singularity of beings and things. Undergoing a de-totalization caused by the axiological crisis of a compromised enunciatory posture, the works willingly suffer the injury of otherness that fragments them. Poetry is able to play the game of an extensive multiplicity : this capacity being grounded on an ethic of relationships, it thus reinvents its right to develop according to a totalizing dynamics. Therefore, the work exist by virtue of its issuing into the world

    The development of identity and the process of self-possession is at the heart of Charlotte and Emily Brontë's writing. In Jane Eyre, Villette, Wuthering Heights and Emily Brontë's poetry, the reader follows the characters and personae (who are essentially female) through the life-voyage which brings them to get to know themselves, find their place in the world, inscribe themselves in it and transmit a vision of their interiority. The process of interiorisation consists in four phases. The first phase is about perception. The subjects discover the world and learn from this contact the necessity of searching for, and even recreating, the sense of belonging in order to gain happiness. Disappointed in the world, they withdraw into themselves, and the phase of feeling starts. The subjects shift from perception to intellection, shape their mental patterns, and try to recreate within themselves, virtually, the conditions of happiness. Imagination plays a major part in this process, but eventually, the inner shelter becomes a prison through the pathological expansion of interiority and the lack of reality. The third phase then begins, revolving around the idea of expression. The subjects, through speech, writing or painting, find ways to let out as much as frame their interiority. The result of their exteriorisation brings about the fourth phase, that of reception, during which intimate and competent readers carry on the process of the construction of identity Au cœur de l'écriture de Charlotte et Emily Brontë se trouve la question de la formation de l'identité et du saisissement de soi par le sujet (essentiellement féminin). Dans Jane Eyre, Villette, Wuthering Heights et la poésie d'Emily Brontë, le lecteur suit personnages principaux et personae tout au long d'un parcours qui les amène à prendre possession d'eux-mêmes, à trouver leur place dans le monde, à s'y inscrire et à pouvoir transmettre une vision de leur intériorité. Le processus d'intériorisation comprend quatre phases. La première s'organise autour de la perception. Les sujets découvrent le monde et apprennent à son contact la nécessité de rechercher, voire de créer la sensation d'appartenance pour atteindre le bonheur. Déçus par le monde, ils se replient alors sur eux-mêmes, et commence alors la phase de ressenti. Les sujets passent de la perception à l'intellection, forment leurs schémas mentaux, et tentent de recréer en eux-mêmes, virtuellement, les conditions du bonheur. L'imagination joue un rôle majeur dans cette entreprise, mais à terme, le refuge intérieur devient un enfermement, par l'expansion pathologique de l'intériorité et le manque de réel. Les sujets ressentent alors l'impérieuse nécessité d'extérioriser. La troisième phase s'amorce donc autour des problématiques d'expression. Les sujets, à travers la prise de parole, l'écriture et la pratique picturale, trouvent des canaux pour épancher leur intériorité autant que pour la mettre en forme. Le résultat de leur extériorisation donne lieu à la quatrième phase, celle du reçu, au cours de laquelle les lecteurs intimes et performants continuent l'entreprise de construction de l'identité

    Notre thèse vise à éclaircir les conditions techniques, économiques et sociales de la production imprimée parisienne de musique du XVIe siècle. Elle s’inscrit dans le sillage de L’Apparition du livre de Febvre et Martin comme dans celui des nombreux travaux consécutifs à cet ouvrage fondateur. Conformément à cette tradition historiographique, une histoire matérielle de l’imprimé musical parisien est proposée. L’ensemble des imprimeurs de musique parisiens est pris en compte afin de présenter de façon synchronique les différents aspects de l’édition musicale. Appuyée sur les bibliographies des éditions conservées mais aussi sur des sources archivistiques, la caractérisation du marché des imprimés de musique permet de dégager sinon des invariants, du moins des conjonctures assez précises et étayées sur les modalités de production. Le cadre monographique de notre travail a pour arrière-plan le fonctionnement de la librairie parisienne. D’où la question posée tout au long de cette étude : les mêmes logiques sont-elles à l’œuvre dans les éditions musicales et générales ? Cette interrogation a orienté la démarche dans un sens comparatiste. Elle a également nécessité d’étudier plus précisément l’officine de Nicolas Du Chemin dont la production d’éditions musicales et générales est à peu près équivalente en nombre de titres. Enfin, l’histoire totale des multiples logiques dont le livre est le point de convergence, a impliqué de se pencher sur l’organisation interne de ces imprimés eux-mêmes. Le travail de bibliographie matérielle que suppose cette archéologie du livre s’est concentré sur les messes polyphoniques. Il se fonde sur l’établissement de 58 notices bibliographiques et catalographiques décrivant près de 246 exemplaires sur les 300 recensés par le RISM. Ces publications servent d’exemple pour les différents processus de mise en texte dans les éditions de musique parisiennes, mais aussi situent ces dernières au sein des débats orthotypographiques des années 1540-1560 Our thesis aims at clarifying the technical, economic and social conditions of Parisian musical printing production during the sixteenth century. It lies within the framework of de Febvre and Martin’s L’Apparition du livre [The Appearance of the Book] and of numerous works consecutive to this fundamental work. In accordance with this historiographic tradition, a commercial history of Parisian music printing is proposed. All of the Parisian music printers are taken into consideration in order to present synchronically the various aspects of musical edition. Based on the bibliographies of well-preserved editions but also of archival sources, the characterization of the production of printed music allows the emergence of not only some invariants, but at least of some rather precise overall economic conditions concerning the modes of production. The monographic framework of our study is based on the various functions concerning the Parisian book trade. Hence the question posed throughout this entire study: can these same logics be applied to both general and musical editions? This interrogation directed the thought process in a comparative sense. It was also necessary to examine more precisely Nicolas Du Chemin’s firm, which produced a more or less equivalent number of titles of musical and general editions. Finally, the entire history of the multiple logics of which the book is the convergence point required a study of the internal organization of the printed material. The study of bibliographic material implied by this archeology of books has been focused on the polyphonic masses. It is based on the establishment of 58 bibliographical and catalogical notes describing nearly 246 of the 300 copies inventoried in RISM. These publications demonstrate the various printing processes used by Parisian music editions, but also place these last ones within the orthotypographical debates during the years 1540-1560

    La figure de l'intellectuel juif témoigne d'un phénomène socioculturel qui a émergé en Europe au tournant du XXe siècle. Doubrovsky, Roth et Yehoshua, mettent en scène dans leurs œuvres des héros, intellectuels et universitaires juifs, dont le modèle de personnage répond à l'environnement socioculturel dans lequel ils vivent. Dans Le Livre brisé de Doubrovsky, le genre autofictionnel confond entre l'auteur, le narrateur et le personnage dans un récit qui laisse paraître la douleur d'un homme traumatisé depuis l'Occupation. Dans The Human Stain de Roth, le héros, Coleman Silk est un imposteur, un professeur de Lettres Classiques qui a renié ses origines noires afin d'endosser le costume d'un intellectuel juif. En positionnant le phénomène de \&political correctness au centre de l'intrigue de The Human Stain, Roth soulève le renversement théorique qui s'est opéré aux États-Unis à la fin des années 1980 lorsque des approches philosophiques françaises visant la liberté de l'expression, ont été transformées dans les universités américaines en système de surveillance du langage. Dans La Mariée libérée, Yehoshua crée le personnage de Yohanan Rivline, orientaliste à l'Université de Haïfa qui tente de découvrir l'origine du terrorisme en Algérie. Par le biais de cette recherche universitaire, il se rapproche de son étudiante arabe-israélienne Samaher et entame un voyage dans l'espace et l'inconscient de l'Autre. L'analyse des œuvres permet de distinguer les différentes réalités sociales qui influent la communauté juive en Diaspora et en Israël. Ainsi, l'intellectuel juif est appelé à naître, comme le résultat d'un processus historico-culturel qui est régi par la société The emergence of the figure of the Jewish intellectual in Europe at the end of the nineteenth century illustrates a sociocultural phenomenon of that period. Doubrovsky, Roth and Yehoshua choose heroes for their novels who are Jewish intellectuals and university professors, based on models specific to their particular sociocultural environment. In The Broken Book by Doubrovsky, the autobiographical gender merges author, narrator and character in a story that presents the pain of a man traumatized by the experience of the German Occupation of France. In The Human Stain, the hero, Coleman Silk, is an impersonator, a professor of Classics at Athena University who hid his Afro-American origins in order to put on the costume of a Jewish intellectual. By placing the phenomenon of political correctness at the center of the plot of The Human Stain, Roth highlights the theoretical reversal that occurred at the end of the eighties when American universities transformed French post structuralism, which had originally aimed for liberty of expression, into i System of language surveillance. In The Liberated Bride, Yehoshua creates the character of Yohanan Rivline, orientalist at Haifa University, who tries to discover the origins of Algerian terrorism. By means of his academic research, he gets closer to his Arab Israeli student, Samaher, undertaking a journey in the territory, and in particular the unconscious, of the Other. The analysis of these novels permits one to distinguish the different social realities that influence the Jewish community in the Diaspora and in Israel. Whence the birth of the Jewish intellectual, a direct result of historical and cultural processes taking place in society

    L'objet de cette thèse est le projet d'écriture du corps tel qu'il s'esquisse dans le livre Corpus de Jean-Luc Nancy, qui affirme la nécessité d'une résistance aux tendances, inscrites au sein de la culture occidentale, à intérioriser et, par conséquent, à effacer ce qui, du corps, est son extériorité, c'est-à-dire la matérialité et la fragmentarité mêmes de l'existence, ainsi que l'impossibilité de son assujettissement à un sens existentiel totalisant. Etant donné que Nancy entrevoit ladite tendance tant dans la discursivité philosophique que dans la narrativité littéraire occidentales auxquelles il reproche de transformer systématiquement les corps en signes ou incarnations de principes spirituels, il envisage une écriture du corps qui irait au-delà des deux modes d'articulation en les fragmentant et les privant de toute linéarité et de toute unité. Or, comme Corpus se veut uniquement projet d'une nouvelle écriture encore à réaliser, la présente thèse aborde non seulement les implications philosophiques de l'ouvrage (notamment les influences derridienne, barthienne, heideggérienne), mais aussi son potentiel (anti)littéraire tel qu'il se laisse penser à partir du projet qu'est le livre réalisé intitulé Corpus The subject of the thesis is the project of the writing of the body as outlined in Jean-Luc Nancy's book Corpus. Nancy affirms the necessity of resistance against the tendencies inscribed within the Occidental culture to interiorize and, hence, to erase the exteriority of the body, i.e. the very materiality and fragmentarity of existence as well as the impossibility of its subjection to a totalizing existential meaning. Since Nancy identifies the mentioned tendency both in the philosophical discourses and the literary narratives of the Occident, reproaching them with the systematic transformation of bodies into signs or incarnations of some spiritual principles, he envisages a writing of the body that would go beyond both modes of articulation by fragmenting them and depriving them of all linearity and unity. Now, Corpus sees itself uniquely as a project of a new writing jet to be realized. Therefore, the present thesis discusses not only the philosophical implications of this work (especially the influences of Derrida, Barthes, Heidegger), but also its (anti)literary potential as it can be thought in light of the project that is the realized book called Corpus

    La présente étude consiste en une analyse des rapports entre le dispositif photographique et cinq parmi les œuvres les plus significatives du mouvement littéraire Naturaliste. Dans la première partie de sa thèse, le doctorant a analysé deux textes liés au genre fantastique: la nouvelle Le Horla (1887) de Guy de Maupassant et le roman Là-bas (1891) de Joris-Karl Huysmans. La deuxième partie est entièrement consacrée à l'étude de Nana (1880), d'Émile Zola, et de l'influence du dispositif photographique sur la question du « dénudement » du corps du personnage éponyme. La troisième partie consiste en une analyse photo-littéraire de certains des aspects poétiques et esthétiques dans les romans d'Henry Céard Une belle journée (1881) et Terrains à vendre au bord de la mer (1906). Le candidat a opéré une analyse minutieuse des œuvres, en focalisant l'attention d'abord sur les indices textuels renvoyant au médium photographique pour ensuite développer son étude photo-littéraire sur le plan profond de l'énonciation littéraire, à la recherche du travail profond et structurant du dispositif photographique. Le doctorant a proposé en outre, à partir des textes étudiés, une série de références iconographiques significatives de la production photographique contemporaine aux auteurs pris en considération ainsi que de l'époque actuelle This study consists in an analysis of the relationships between the photographic dispositive and five of the most significant works of the literary movement of Naturalism. In the first section of his thesis, the PhD student has analyzed two texts related with the literary genre of the “Fantastic”: the short story Le Horla (1887), written by Guy de Maupassant and Joris-Karl Huysmans's novel Là-bas (1891). The second section is entirely dedicated to the study of Nana (1880), by Émile Zola, and the influence of the photographic dispositive on the theme of “nude” with respect to the heroin of the novel, Nana. The third section consists in a photo-literary analysis of some of the poetic and aesthetic aspects characterizing the novels of Henry Céard, Une belle journée (1881) and Terrains à vendre au bord de la mer (1906). The candidate has operated a meticulous analysis of those literary works, with a focus, in the first place, on those textual marks suggesting the presence of the photographic medium; secondly, he has developed his photo-literary study trying to explore, on the deeper level of the literary enunciation, the function of the photographic dispositive with respect to the construction of the text. Besides, the candidate has proposed, starting from the novels that he has studied, some iconic references reflecting the photographic production contemporary to the authors of his corpus and also some photographic examples of present time

    Dans l’introduction de son travail, Charles Senard situe les représentations sexuelles des poèmes pontaniens dans le contexte de l’histoire des mentalités du Quattrocento et des représentations littéraires et artistiques du temps. Il identifie ensuite les sources antiques et renaissantes auxquelles puise Pontano, soulignant à la fois le caractère éclectique de l’imitation pratiquée par le poète napolitain et l’importance du modèle ovidien. Puis, il montre que les passages sexuels des poèmes pontaniens s’efforcent d’atteindre l’effet d’enargeia, qui vise à produire une excitation sexuelle chez le lecteur : à cette fin, le poète napolitain, suivant en particulier les recommandations de Quintilien, recourt aux procédés de l’ekphrasis, et s’attache à ce que son lecteur, présumé masculin, fasse sienne la phantasia du poète. Enfin, Charles Senard situe le discours pontanien sur la sexualité et sur ses fonctions par rapport aux discours théologique, philosophique, médical et poétique contemporains ; il montre que dans l’œuvre poétique pontanienne, la sexualité est tout d’abord présentée comme un jeu, obéissant à des règles bien précises ; elle permet aussi la fusion des amants, corps et âmes ; elle étanche la soif et apaise la faim des amants ; enfin, elle leur rend la chaleur de la jeunesse In the introduction of his work, Charles Senard puts the sexual representations of the Pontanian poems in the context of the history of attitudes of the Quattrocento and of the production of artistic and literary erotica of the time. He proceeds by identifying the ancient and Renaissance sources Pontano imitated, underlining both Pontano’s eclectic imitative practice and the importance of the Ovidian model. He then shows that the sexual passages of the Pontanian poems aim at achieving the enargeia effect, in order to titillate the reader: to this end, the Neapolitan poet, following in particular the recommendations of Quintilian, takes advantage of the ekphrasis techniques, and ensures that his reader, presumably a male, makes the phantasia of the poet his own. Finally, Charles Senard analyses the Pontanian discourse on sexuality and on its functions, confronting it with the theological, philosophical, medical and poetical discourses of the time; he shows that in the poetical works of Pontano, sexuality is above all described as a game, that follows precise rules; it also enables the fusion of the lovers, body and soul; it quenches their thirst, alleviates their hunger; finally, it gives them back the warmth of youth

    Le médecin Jean Zacharias Actouarios, actif à Constantinople dans le premier tiers du XIVe siècle, a joué un rôle important à son époque non seulement en tant que médecin, mais aussi comme auteur de plusieurs oeuvres médicales de grande qualité. Son oeuvre a connu une large diffusion, ainsi qu'en témoigne la richesse de tradition manuscrite, mais est pour une bonne part inédite. Le but de cette thèse était d'établir l'histoire du texte du premier livre du traité De urinis, qui a été édité par J. L. Ideler en 1841, mais sans apparat critique ni présentation du ou des manuscrits utilisés comme base de son édition. On a pu repérer près de 40 manuscrits contenant le traité qui est d'ailleurs encore reproduit par des érudits occidentaux au XVIIe siècle. Le De urinis comprend sept livres qui s'attachent successivement à la description de la diversité des urines, le diagnostic, l'étiologie et le pronostic. Dans le premier livre, Jean Zacharias Actouarios expose comment se font l'examen des urines et l'analyse de leurs caractéristiques, selon un ordonnancement en chapitres rigoureusement agence. Ce traité est en général présenté comme un chef-d'oeuvre de la médecine byzantine ; la recherche faite dans le cadre de cette thèse a montré son originalité par rapport aux autres traités sur les urines déjà existés. Jean Zacharias Actouarios a mis en valeur la théorie et la pratique médicale et a rédigé un ouvrage méthodique et systématique caractérisé par une profondeur de raisonnement et à visée pédagogique The doctor Johannes Zacharias Actuarius, active in Constantinople during the first third of the 14e century, had an important role in his time, not only as a doctor, but also as an author of many medical treatises of big quality. His work knew a large diffusion, as the manuscript tradition indicates, but still remains - for a major part - unpublished. This thesis aims to establish the text history of the first book of the treatise De urinis, which was published by J. L. IDELER in 1841, but without any apparatus criticus neither any presentation of the manuscripts used as a basis for this edition. We were able to identify about 40 manuscripts that contain the treatise which was otherwise reproduced by the occidental scholars until the 17e century.De urinis is divised into seven books dealing with the description of the urines varieties, the diagnostic, the etiology and the prognostic. In the first book, Johannes Zacharias Actuarius describes the method of examining the urines and analysing their characteristics, with a rigorous chapter organisation: This treatise is generally considered as a masterpiece of the byzantine medicine. The research that took place in the frame of this thesis showed this treatise originality in relation to the earlier works concerning the same subject.     Se fondant sur une herméneutique minutieuse de la Ḵẖamsa du poète chag̱ẖatay 'AIî Shîr Nawâ'î (1441-1501), le présent travail s'attache à considérer l'évolution des pratiques d'imitation à l'époque du sultan Husayn Bayqara, dont le règne (1469-1470 et 1470-1506) correspond à la période dite des « derniers Timourides ». Sont d'abord examinées les différentes traditions académiques qui ont envisagé la figure de Nawâ'î dont l'œuvre est composée pour une large part de pastiches des poèmes des grands littérateurs persans. La réticence de ces diverses études à appréhender les spécificités d'un phénomène tel que la réécriture amène alors à aborder la question à partir des travaux menés dans les domaines de l'architecture, de la miniature et de la littérature à Hérat à la fin du XVe siècle. Sont ainsi dégagées les « inflexions » majeures du processus d'imitation qui façonnent l'esthétisme de la période. La comparaison de la Ḵẖamsa chag̱ẖatay avec ses différents modèles persans (les masnawî de Nizâmî, de Ḵẖusrau Dihlawî et de Jâmî) permet non seulement de montrer que les cinq poèmes de Nawâ'î sont davantage une recréation qu'une reprise aveugle des textes de ses prédécesseurs, mais fait aussi ressortir le fait que la pentalogie chag̱ẖatay cristallise ces inflexions, puisque la timouridisation, la standardisation et la soufisation sont au fondement de l'entreprise de réécriture du poète. C'est donc une compréhension nouvelle de l'œuvre du polygraphe chag̱ẖatay qui est proposée, ainsi qu'un accès privilégié à l'histoire culturelle de cette région et de cette période dont Nawâ'î figure l'une des incarnations les plus singulières Based on a thorough inquiry of the great Chaghatay poet 'AIî Shîr Nawâ'î(1441-1501)'s Ḵẖamsa, the present work focuses on the evolution of the imitation practices during the reign of Husayn Bayqara (1469-1470 and 1470-1506), an era of time called the period of "the Last Timurids". The different academic trends which have approached Nawâ'î's figure, a poet whose corpus is composed mostly of the rewritings of the great Persian writers' works, are firstly examined. Since these various studies proved to be reluctan to deal with the specificities of a phenomenon such as the rewriting, the matter is tackled with researches carried out in the fields of architecture, miniature and literature in Herat at the end of the 15th century. Major shifts in the imitation process that shaped the aesthetics of the period emerge out of these studies. The comparison between the Chaghatay Khamsa and its different Persian models (Nizâmî, Khusrau Dihlaw and Jâmî's masnawî) allows to show that not only Nawâ'î's five poems are rather a re-creation than a blind copy, but also highlights the fact that the Chaghatay pentalogy crystallizes these shifts, for timuridization, standardization and sufization lie at the foundation of this poetic endeavor. It is therefore a new understanding of the Chaghatay polygraph's works which is proposed, as well as a privileged access to the cultural history of this region and this period for which Nawâ'î represents one of the most singular embodiments

    Le tropaire-prosaire BnF N.a.l. 3126 fut copié au milieu du XIIe siècle pour le monastère Saint-Martin de Nevers, devenu une institution augustinienne en 1143. Au XIIIe siècle, deux cahiers ont été ajoutés en tête et à la fin du manuscrit. Depuis sa découverte dans une collection particulière dans les années 1950, le tropaire-prosaire a attiré l’attention de plusieurs chercheurs, car il contient un nombre significatif de proses et de tropes de la seconde époque, ainsi que quatre pièces attribuées à Abélard. Si son répertoire témoigne de relations avec de nombreuses traditions (notamment la cathédrale Saint-Cyr de Nevers, le Sud-Ouest, Cluny, l’Est, Notre-Dame de Paris et Saint-Victor), il constitue également la première source de plusieurs pièces et comprend des proses et tropes dont il est le seul témoin connu. Notre thèse aborde le manuscrit sous différents angles : description codicologique, étude de la notation et des affectations liturgiques, organisation du manuscrit. Les mélodies font l’objet de commentaires détaillés car elles se distinguent par leur diversité stylistique, tant dans leur structure formelle, leur traitement modal, leurs procédés de développement mélodique, la nature et le rôle de leur ornementation. Les pièces ont été transcrites et comparées à leurs correspondances dans huit manuscrits originaires de la cathédrale de Nevers, du Sud-Ouest et de Paris. Des sources secondaires ont aussi été consultées afin de préciser l’analyse. Il s’agit en effet de mieux cerner les influences de ces traditions sur le répertoire de Saint-Martin, et d’observer la façon dont les Augustins nivernais les ont assimilées pour élaborer leurs propres créations The troper-proser BnF N.a.l. 3126 was prepared in the mid-twelfth century for the monastery St. Martin of Nevers which became an Augustinian house in 1143. Two quires were added in the thirteenth century, at the top and the back of the manuscript. Since it was discovered in a private collection in the 1950s, it has interested several scholars, for it comprises a substantial number of proses and troped Ordinary chants of the second epoch, as well as four pieces associated with Abelard. Its repertory attests to connections with many traditions (in particular the cathedral St. Cyr of Nevers, South-West of France, Cluny, East, Notre-Dame de Paris and Saint-Victor). Furthermore, it is the earliest witness to several pieces and the sole witness to some proses and tropes. Our dissertation approaches the manuscript from various points of view : codicological description, study of the musical notation and liturgical assignments, structure of the manuscript. The melodies are carefully studied, for they distinguish themselves by stylistic diversity, thanks to their musical structure, modal conceiving, techniques of melodic development, style and part of their ornaments. Pieces were transcribed and compared with the versions transmitted by eight manuscripts from Nevers’ cathedral, South-West and Paris. Secondary sources were also examined, in order to state precisely some details of analysis. The purpose is to define better the influences of those traditions on the St. Martin repertory and to observe how the Augustinians of Nevers have mastered them to work out their own creations

    Ce travail d'histoire comparée de la littérature et de la sociologie s'interroge sur l'émergence de la notion de type dans les pratiques de description du monde social au cours des années 1820-1860. À partir de l'analyse des opérations de schématisation engagées par Honoré Balzac dans La Comédie humaine et par Frédéric Le Play dans Les Ouvriers européens, soit deux œuvres que tout semble éloigner du point de vue de leurs ambitions, de leur forme et de la trajectoire de leur auteur, mais qui toutes deux placent cependant la typification au centre de leur dispositif, il s'est agi de produire une histoire de l'imagination typologique, et des ontologies, sociales ou non, qui lui furent associées. Aussi le corpus intègre-t-il des textes d'histoire naturelle, de sciences médicales, d'histoire, de chimie, de géologie, de métallurgie, et, bien évidemment, les genres du roman sentimental, du roman historique et de la littérature panoramique, ainsi que les enquêtes ouvrières et la statistique This work offers a compared history of literature and sociology in France between 1820 and 1860. During that period, the notion of type appears in the literary and sociological descriptions of social reality, and becomes more and more central in the apprehension of the differenciations among classes, communities or groups. Based on the analysis of Honoré Balzac's La Comédie humaine and Frédéric Le Play's Les Ouvriers européens, this study shows that these two series of novels and of workers' monographies put typification at the center of their descriptive ambition. More broadly, it proposes a history of the uses of a typological imagination and of the ontologies, above all social, that were underlying them. That is why the texts also taken into account in this study range from natural history, medical sciences, history, chemistry geology and metallurgy, to the sentimental novel, the historical novel and the panoramic literature, as well as social inquiries and statistics
