    Comment Hugo compose-t-il en poésie de 1831 à 1865 ? Les manuscrits qu'il a légués à la Bibliothèque nationale de France ne permettent pas de rendre compte de toutes les étapes de la genèse de ses recueils lyriques. Notre étude suit un ordre qui correspond au morcellement de notre dossier génétique. Les fragments poétiques, qualifiés par Hugo d'"Océan", soulignent l'importance qu'il accorde immédiatement aux mots, aux vers et au silence. Les manuscrits de ses poèmes ne montrent pas le trajet qui mène de ces ébauches aux pièces achevées : ce sont très souvent des mises au net. Ils permettent cependant de comprendre à quel point Hugo travaille par amplifications et ajouts successifs. On y décèle également les tâtonnements d'une pensée qui se cherche. Le choix effectué entre les variantes souligne la manière dont le poète se met en scène et dont se construit sa pensée politique. La véritable évolution dans l'écriture poétique de Hugo tient surtout à sa conception du recueil. L'exil introduit une véritable rupture. Les plans qui organisent ses volumes gardent trace des bouleversements provoqués par la mort de Léopoldine et par le coup d'Etat de 1851. Hugo, choisissant d'articuler ses poèmes au sein de structures désormais apparentes, met en scène la genèse de ses oeuvres et cherche à leur donner un sens politique implicite tout en déjouant la censure. L'horizon de la réception de l'oeuvre tient, plus que jamais pendant l'exil, un rôle essentiel dans le processus de création How did Hugo write poetry during the years 1831-1865 ? The manuscripts he left to the French National Library don't reveal all the phases of the genesis of his lyric collections. The stages of our study correspond to the fragmentation or our genetic record. The poetic fragments, called "Ocean" by Hugo, emphasize the importance he immediately attaches to words, verses and silence. The manuscripts do not enable us to understand how he uses the fragments to create the completed poems : these fragments have often been simply copied out neatly. However, they let us understand that Hugo mostly makes additions and developments when composing. We can see the trail of a thought which is searching for itself. The choice made from among the various options shows how Hugo presents himself and the forming of his political ideas. The true evolution in Hugo's poetical writing mainly concerns his collections. Exile marks a real rupture. The structure of the collections bears the marks of Leopoldine's death and the coup of 1851. Choosing to organize his poems in visible structures, Hugo stages the genesis of his work. While avoiding censure, he tries to give them an implicit political meaning. During his exile, the reception of his work is essential to the writing process more than ever before

    Ce travail dégage la conception de l'Histoire de Heredia. Dans la première partie, nous étudions les époques d'inspiration hellénique. Le poète décrit les origines de l'Humanité à travers une mythification de l'évolutionnisme. Le naturalisme mythologique, parallèlement, renforce ce retour aux origines. L'effort civilisateur des héros grecs est presque aussitôt confronté à la barbarie. Les syncrétismes grec et hellénistique et l'Impérialisme de Rome, héritière culturelle de la Grèce, introduisent les moeurs barbares dans les civilisations d'inspiration hellénique. Avec la chute de Rome, le dernier rempart contre la barbarie est détruit. Dans la deuxième partie, nous décrivons les moyens qui permettent à Heredia de manifester son refus de continuer à relater l'Histoire. L'abondance de la matière dure et les différentes vagues d'imitation de l'art grec symbolisent le ralentissement ou le blocage du cours de l'Histoire. Dans la troisième partie, nous étudions comment Heredia ressuscite le passé à travers le trophée. Les fragments du passé qui émergent à la surface du présent, dans leur lutte contre l'oubli, sont des trophées. Considérant l'oubli comme l'ennemi contre lequel il faut lutter, Heredia, avec ses sonnets, déplace la signification du trophée de la sphère épique vers le lyrisme This work highlights the conception of history according to Heredia. The first part will study the periods of Hellenic inspiration. The poet describes the origins of humanity through mythologising evolutionism. At the same time, the mythological naturalism reinforces the return to origins.The civilizing effort of the Greek heroes is almost immediately confronted to barbarism. Both Greek and Hellenic syncretism, as well as the imperialism of Rome, the cultural heir of Greece, introduce barbarie customs to Greece. With the fall of Rome, the last defence against barbarism was destroyed. The second part will describe the means which allowed Heredia to express his refusai to continue to tell history. The abundance of hard material and the different waves of imitation of Greek art symbolize the slowdown or the blocking of the course of history. In the third part, we will study how Heredia brings back the past through the trophy. The fragments of the past which emerge at the surface of the present in their struggle against oblivion are trophies. Considering oblivion as the enemy that must be fought, Heredia, with his sonnets, shifts the significance of the trophy from the skinny sphere to lyricism

Dans la deuxième partie, nous décrivons les moyens qui permettent à Heredia de manifester son refus de continuer à relater l'Histoire. L'abondance de la matière dure et les différentes vagues d'imitation de l'art grec symbolisent le ralentissement ou le blocage du cours de l'Histoire. Dans la troisième partie, nous étudions comment Heredia ressuscite le passé à travers le trophée. Les fragments du passé qui émergent à la surface du présent, dans leur lutte contre l'oubli, sont des trophées. Considérant l'oubli comme l'ennemi contre lequel il faut lutter, Heredia, avec ses sonnets, déplace la signification du trophée de la sphère épique vers le lyrisme This work highlights the conception of history according to Heredia. The first part will study the periods of Hellenic inspiration. The poet describes the origins of humanity through mythologising evolutionism. At the same time, the mythological naturalism reinforces the return to origins.The civilizing effort of the Greek heroes is almost immediately confronted to barbarism. Both Greek and Hellenic syncretism, as well as the imperialism of Rome, the cultural heir of Greece, introduce barbarie customs to Greece. With the fall of Rome, the last defence against barbarism was destroyed. The second part will describe the means which allowed Heredia to express his refusai to continue to tell history. The abundance of hard material and the different waves of imitation of Greek art symbolize the slowdown or the blocking of the course of history. In the third part, we will study how Heredia brings back the past through the trophy. The fragments of the past which emerge at the surface of the present in their struggle against oblivion are trophies. Considering oblivion as the enemy that must be fought, Heredia, with his sonnets, shifts the significance of the trophy from the skinny sphere to lyricism
