La grande diversité des délimitations, dénominations, leçons, interprétations, que l'on ne peut en aucune manière considérer comme une progressive venue au jour de la véritable forme d'un texte, engage à contester l'économie de la textualité, à faire voir comment la série des éditions et des commentaires produit, dans un mouvement de répétitions, ce qu'elle représente comme sa propre origine, et institue ains ce qu'elle désigne comme un texte et un auteur This study shows how four manuscript pages happened to become through the ages what is nowadays most usually known as the "Pari de Pascal" ("Pascal's wager"), one of the famous pieces of the so called "Pensées de Pascal". A critical analysis of publication editing procedures and commentary circulation demonstrates that they were established and perpetuated as a text by a tradition through many operations of transcription which greatly reduce their supposed authenticity. As we explore the wide range of delimitations, denominations, philological lectures, and interpretations, which these pages underwent and which can in no way be considered as a progressive bringing to light of the text true form, we are led to contest the economy of textuality, and to show how the series of publications and commentaries produces, in a process of repetitions, the very object that it depicts as its own origin, and how this series constructs and institutes what it represents as a text and an author

    Dans les contes et nouvelles fantastiques de Théophile Gautier, la féminité, sublime et ineffable, insaisissable et mystérieuse, ordonne et interroge, par ses apparitions et disparitions, par ses convulsions poétiques, la fiction et l'écriture. Entre héritage et modernité, infiniment présente et absolument absente, elle éprouve la représentation artistique et se fait le point de rosée où l'œuvre fantastique, véritablement, se crée. Explorant les médiums artistiques contemporains dans une dynamique paradoxale, où sont donnés, dans leurs représentations mêmes, leur effacement et leur dépassement, l'écriture surgit de cette poétique féminine, dans un dire impossible et pourtant là. Ainsi la poétique de l'œuvre fantastique de Gautier entérine la fêlure et le manque, afin de faire de la femme et de sa représentation, l'indicible, si ce n'est l'indécidable, tension motrice de l'écriture. Sondant le langage jusqu'au silence, elle compose alors avec cette impossibilité et cette incomplétude essentielles ; substances créatrices qui la conduisent parfois aux confins d'une modernité, encore voilée mais latente In Théophile Gautier's fantastic tales and short stories, femininity, sublime and indescribable, mysterious and unfathomable, orders and questions fiction and writing through its poetical convulsions, its appearances and disappearances. Hovering somewhere between inheritance and modernity, infinitely pervasive and altogether missing at the same time, femininity is somehow the touchstone of artistic representation and becomes the source out of which the fantastic work truly springs into life. By exploring contemporary artistic media along paradoxical guidelines within the representations of which erasure and transcendence are already encoded, the writing stems from that feminine poetics, in an impossible - yet vividly present - utterance. Thus, the poetics of Gautier's fantastic work subsumes the split and the lack so as to turn both woman and her representation into the unspeakable - perhaps even undecidable - ongoing motion of the writing process. Probing language until its very limit, silence, Gautier's poetics therefore integrates this fundamental impossibility and incompleteness - the nourishing substance that sometimes takes it to the borderline of a modernity which is concealed but is definitely underlying in his work

    Le présent travail porte sur un corpus de textes relatant un conflit fondamental aux yeux des médiévaux : la Guerre de Troie. La cité antique était en effet considérée comme le berceau des civilisations occidentales. À partir de l'adaptation en roman par Benoît de Sainte-Maure au XIIe siècle de deux récits médio-latins, la matière troyenne a pu gagner les terres d'Empire, où les récits de Troie en vers, dérivés directement ou indirectement du roman français, ont été transmis du XIIe au XVe siècle. La guerre, sujet peu attrayant aujourd'hui quand il se présente, pour l'essentiel, comme c'est le cas dans ces textes, sous la forme d'une alternance de combats singuliers et de mêlées narrés sur des milliers de vers, semblait au contraire séduire le public médiéval. Nous avons donc étudié la place de la guerre et la façon dont elle était représentée dans les récits de Troie afin de déterminer ce qui faisait la richesse et ainsi la fortune de ce thème au Moyen Âge The present work deals with a corpus of texts that relate a crucial conflict in the eyes of Middles Ages populations, namely the Trojan war - the ancient city of Troy being regarded as the cradle of Western civilisations. From the adaptation into french of two medieval-latin narratives by Benoît de Ste-Maure in the XIIth century, the Trojan motive spread to the territories of the Empire where the verse narratives about Troy, directly or indirectly derived from the French Romance, where transmitted between the XIIth and XVth centuries. The war, hardly an attractive topic today when it is mostly presented, as is the case in these texts, as an alternation of one-to-one combats and mêlées narrated over thousands lines, seemed in those days, on the contrary, to appeal to the medieval public. So we have studied the significance and the representation of the war in the Trojan narratives in order to work out what made the merits and therefore the success of that motive in the Middle Ages

Confronté à leurs effets, le lecteur doit accepter la déroute comme principe de lecture. Cet effet d'égarement est renforcé par une matière textuelle et visuelle dynamique. DDD, échappant à la clôture et à l'inertie, exige une perpétuelle circulation du regard. Des temporalités coexistent. La capacité de transformation de DDD suscite une interrogation sur la ligne mimique, en relation avec la "formule pathique" warburgienne. Altérant la figure humaine, la mimique entraîne une réflexion sur l'informe, dont Degas et Valéry jouent selon les moyens de leur art Degas, Danse, Dessin by Paul Valéry can't fail to surprise the reader : all the elemnts, both textual and visual, actually take part in a production of instability. That is why everything works towards presenting a text which is very far from the most conventional formal and hermeneutic expectations. Valéry is writing here for the reader to choose his own rhythm, even if i/he is subtly led according to the author's design. The taste of polymorphism -structural, narrative but also using the text-picture relations- is quite effective. to rich is aim, Valéry sets up a singular rhetoric, knowing how to take advantage of the material means of the book, confirming its suspensive function. The ressources of the figural, bursting in the order of the discourse, have to be associated with the rhetorical means. Between rhetoric and figural, the reader has to accept to be disconcerted. Moreover, some formal flexibility - structural, thematic and metaphorical - holds one's attention : the animal reference, for instance, conveys the energy of the movement, embodied by the figure of a dancer. DDD favours a visual reading, like a polyptych. The look has to circulate, letting different coexisting temporalities, which give to the form a real power of transformation. The latter conveys a questionning about the virtues of gesture. From the "gesture line" of Degas as the "movement of life found in the Greeks time" to the pathic formula, after the warburgian terminology, a relation of closeness has to be considered. Distorting the human figure, the gesture leads to a reflexion on the undefined, interval between two forms, that Degas and Valéry use according to the means of their art

    Dans cette étude, j'ai pour but de trouver la continuité du discours de Baudelaire. L'analyse de « La Fausse monnaie » par la prosodie et le rythme selon Meschonnic m'a permis de trouver la valeur, l'historicité et le sujet de ce poème. Avec ce résultat, j'ai essayé de trouver concrètement le système du discours de Baudelaire. Pour cela, j'ai mis la partie « Impersonnalisation et Dépersonnalisation ». J'y ai mis les trois degrés : « Relation je et tu », « Communication je et tu » et « Acte de discours ». A travers ces trois degrés, j'ai trouvé la relation entre je et tu par l'événement, par l'observation et par l'énonciation. Et j'ai minutieusement étudié les phénomènes de ces relations. Il en résulte qu'on a pu trouver qui est la victime et le bourreau. Pour cela, j'ai utilisé l'analyse du « nous » de Benveniste. A travers ce processus, on a pu également distinguer le sujet de l'énoncé et le sujet de l'énonciation, le sujet individu et le sujet collectif. Et on n'aura plus de confusion entre la sémiotique et la sémantique, le réel et l'irréel, la fiction, le mythe et le discours. Et finalement, on a retrouvé la beauté historique My aim in this study is to find continuity in Baudelaire's writing.The analysis of « The Counterfeit Money » with reference to its prosody and rhythm using Meschonnic's approach enabled me to appreciate the worth, the historicity and subject of this poem and to establish a clear picture of the system of Baudelaire's writing. This is discussed in the section entitled « Impersonalization and Depersonalization » which, in turn, is divided into three parts : « I and You Relationship », « I and You Communication » and « The Act of Writing ». These three degrees helped me to find the Relationship between I and You by meticulously studying the phenomena of the relationships between events, observations and enunciation. I was able to evaluate who was the victim and who the executioner using Benveniste's analysis of the « We ». By using this process I was also able to distinguish between the subject of the statement and the subject of the enunciation, the individual subject and the collective subject. There is no longer any confusion regarding the semiotic and the semantic, the real and the unreal, fiction, myth and speech. Finally, historical beauty has been rediscovered

    Cette recherche propose une approche du roman populaire policier de la fin du XIXe siècle au début du XXe Les écrivains fondateurs du genre tels E. Gaboriau, G. Leroux, M. Leblanc M. Allain et P. Souvestre permettent d’appréhender le passage d’un genre à un autre. Au début du XXe siècle, la scission entre les deux genres n’est pas encore effective, mais on constate que l’intérêt du roman se situe, en partie, dans l’enquête et dans l’application de la logique à l’analyse du crime. Cet aspect émerge dans certains romans de Gaboriau, fin XIXe, ou dans Le Mystère de la chambre jaune. Bien qu’il s’agisse plutôt de romans d’aventures policières à connotations populaires, ils entrent néanmoins dans un système d’observation et de déduction qui nous amènera, vers les années 1920-1930, au roman de pure détection de style anglais. L’étude porte sur l’image de l’enquêteur et sur la rivalité entre deux forces qui s’opposent : la police officielle et l’amateur. L’intérêt s’oriente sur les caractéristiques et les aptitudes exceptionnelles des héros-enquêteurs qui vont amener la représentation symbolique du détective omniscient des romans policiers classiques. This research proposes an approach to detective novels written from the end of the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century. The founding writers of popular and detective novels such as Emile Gaboriau, Gaston Leroux, Maurice Leblanc, Marcel Allain and Pierre Souvestre will give an understanding of the passage from popular novels towards the detective novels. In the beginning of the 20th century, the cleavage between the two styles is not yet effective. Nevertheless, the interest can be found in the novel is, in part, about the logical application to crime analysis. This aspect comes into view in some Emile Gaboriau’s novels, at the end of the 19th century, or in le Mystère de la chambre jaune. These novels are popular and mystery stories with crimes rather than detective novels in the literal sense. However, the interest comes slowly into a deduction and observation system, which will drive to, in the years 1920-1930, to the pure English detective novel. The study concerns the representation of the investigator and the emulation between two opposite forces: the official authorities and the dilettante. Prime investigators’ exceptional characteristics and aptitudes can be observed, which drive the omniscient inquirer’s symbolic representation into the classical detective novels.

    Outre l'analyse de l'implication des lions et des bovins dans les croyances des populations syriennes de l'âge du Bronze (IIIe-IIe millénaire av. J.-C.) et, par extension, du rapport entretenu par les dites populations avec le monde sauvage et le monde domestique, cette étude présente un double objectif: mettre en oeuvre une méthode quantitative objective des représentations animales afin que la diffusion du travail permette à terme de valider ou d'invalider la méthode; reprendre l'étude du concept de croyance afin d'envisager ce dernier sous un angle nouveau, considérant la croyance comme relevant d'une idéologie, ce qui implique que la croyance puisse être tout aussi bien d'ordre religieux que politique. Pour répondre aux problématiques du sujet, l'étude commence par une présentation des fondements de l'analyse, ce qui permet de cadrer les conditions spatiales, temporelles et conceptuelles de celle-ci. L'approche en a été pluridisciplinaire, mettant en oeuvre la psychologie, l'histoire des religions, la zoologie, l'ethnographie, l'archéozoologie et la philologie. Après l'établissement des critères zoologiques et éthologiques permettant de discriminer, au sein du règne animal et à l'intérieur de chaque famille concernée (félidés et bovidés), le lion et les bovins, les informations archéozoologiques permettent d'affiner les critères d'identification des représentations. Le matériel archéologique (ossements et iconographie) est alors passé au crible des critères susmentionnés permettant ainsi d'établir le corpus des données, les données ethnographiques et textuelles complétant l'analyse Beyond the analysis of the implication of lions and bovines in the beliefs of the syrian populations during the Bronze Age (III-II) millenium B.C.) and, by extension of the relationship maintained by the population mentioned with both the wild and the domestic world, this study presents a double purpose: to implement an unbiased objective quantitative method of the animal representations so that the diffusion of work in the long term makes it possible to validate or invalidate the methodology; to review the study of the belief concept in order to approach it from a new point of view, regarding the belief as relating to an ideology. That implies that the belief could be religious as well as politic. In order to respond to the problematics of this topic, the study starts with a representation of the analysis foundations, thus providing a contextualization of its spatial, temporal and conceptual limits. The approach was multidisciplinary, implementing psychology, religion, history, zoology, social anthropology, archeozoology and philology. After the zoological and ethologic criteria were established to discriminate within the animal kingdom and inside each family concerned (felines and bovines), the lion and the bovines, the archeozoological informations make it possible to refine the identifying information of the iconography data. Then, the archaeological data (bones and iconography) are screened following the above-mentioned criteria to establish the corpus data, the ethnographic and epigraphic data supplementing the analysis
