    Der Band Aleksandr Puškin und der Kaukasus. Literatur. Geschichte. Bilder beleuchtet jene Phase der russischen Geschichte und Kultur, als im Zuge der Expansionspolitik des Zarenreiches neue, ferne Gebiete in den Blick gerieten. Gerade die Kaukasusregion bildete mit ihrer atemberaubenden Bergwelt und den dort seit alters her ansässigen Völkern mit unterschiedlichen Religionen, Sitten und Gebräuchen für die Konstituierung des Selbstverständnisses des Dichters Aleksandr Puškin (1799-1837) und der russischen Gesellschaft eine Herausforderung. Die Beiträge von Rolf-Dietrich Keil, Elisabeth von Erdmann, Leonid Arinštejn, Wolfgang Stephan Kissel, Andreas Ebbinghaus, Thomas Grob, Ada Raev und Sebastian Kempgen bewegen sich räumlich, zeitlich und methodisch zwischen unterschiedlichen Polen. Die Zugangsweisen umfassen biographische, macht- und geopolitische, literaturwissenschaftliche, ideengeschichtliche, kulturwissenschaftliche, kunsthistorische und wissenschaftsgeschichtliche Fokussierungen. In der Zusammenschau von unterschiedlichen Quellen, literarischen Werken und bildkünstlerischen Zeugnissen wird herausgearbeitet, dass der Kaukasus aus russischer Sicht im ersten Drittel des 19. Jahrhunderts viele Gesichter hatte: Er war gleichermaßen mythengesättigter „Mundus Imaginalis“, Ort romantischer Sehnsucht und orientalischer Phantasien, „imperiale Landschaft“ und vielgestaltige Kulturlandschaft. Darüber hinaus diente er als Inspirationsquelle für neue literarische und bild-künstlerische Genres, als Erkenntnisraum und Prüfstein für den Begriff der Zivilisation. Neben Besonderheiten des russischen Orientdiskurses wird abschließend der Umgang des modernen Georgien mit dem kulturellen Erbe der einstigen Besatzer thematisiert. ; The volume Aleksandr Puškin and the Caucasus. Literature. History. Images examines a period of Russian history and culture in which new distant territories came into view as a consequence of Russian expansionism. The Caucasus region with its stunning mountain landscapes and its ancient peoples of various religions, habits and customs posed a challenge both to the development of Aleksandr Puškin’s (1799-1837) self-concept as a poet as well as to the formation of the identity of the Russian society as a whole. The articles written by Rolf-Dietrich Keil, Elisabeth von Erdmann, Leonid Arinštejn, Wolfgang Stephan Kissel, Andreas Ebbinghaus, Thomas Grob, Ada Raev and Sebastian Kempgen encompass different aspects of time, space and methodology. The theoretical approaches include biographical, power-political, geopolitical and literary focuses, as well as an emphasis on the history of ideas, cultural science, history of art and history of science. In the synopsis of diverse source material, including works of literature and visual arts, it becomes apparent that from the Russian perspective in the first third of the 19th century, the Caucasus had many faces. It simultaneously was a mythological “Mundus Imaginalis”, a place of romantic longing and oriental phantasies, an “imperial landscape” and a territory with multifarious cultural landscapes. It served as a source of inspiration for new literary and artistic genres, a place of cognition and a touchstone for the concept of civilization. Apart from specific aspects of the Russian orientalist discourse, it is also discussed how modern Georgia deals with the cultural heritage of its former occupiers.

    Der Tagungsband des Nachwuchskolloquiums „Handschriften als Quellen der Sprach- und Kulturwissenschaft. Aktuelle Fragestellungen – Methoden – Probleme“, das am 4. und 5. Dezember 2015 an der Universität Bamberg abgehalten wurde, vereint Beiträge aus nahezu allen dem Mittelalter zugewandten Disziplinen. Handschriftenbasierte Forschung aus der germanistischen Mediävistik, der historischen Sprachwissenschaft, Geschichte und Kunstgeschichte eröffnet eine breite Perspektive auf die mittelalterliche bis frühneuzeitliche Kultur und Gesellschaft, auf die sprachlichen Begebenheiten dieser Epoche, deren Manifestation durch Schreiber und die kodikologische und paläographische Analyse der Schreibumstände sowie die Chancen und Anforderungen einer zeitgemäßen Forschung durch die Nutzbarmachung informationstechnologischer Ressourcen und die Digital Humanities. Mit der vorliegenden Publikation werden Forschungsergebnisse von Nachwuchswissenschaftlerinnen und -wissenschaftlern, aber auch renommierten Fachvertreterinnen und -vertretern aus dem In- und Ausland dergestalt zusammengeführt, dass sich ein vielschichtiges Bild über die aktuelle Situation in der Forschung handschriftlicher Quellen ergibt. ; The proceedings of the postgraduate conference „Handschriften als Quellen der Sprach- und Kulturwissenschaft. Aktuelle Fragestellungen – Methoden – Probleme“, which was held on 4th and 5th of December 2015 at the University of Bamberg, unifies contributions from almost all medieval disciplines. Manuscript-based research from Germanic medieval studies, historical linguistics, history and art history opens up a broad perspective on medieval and early modern culture and society, on the linguistic characteristics of this period, their manifestation by scribes, the codicological and palaeographic analysis of their writing conditions and the opportunities as well as demands of contemporary research through the utilization of information technology resources and the Digital Humans. The present publication brings together the research results of junior scientists and renowned experts from Germany and abroad in such an extent, that a complex picture emerges of the status quo in research of manuscriptual sources.

    This student conference celebrates the bicentennial of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein; or: The Modern Prometheus (1818). At 200, the novel is still very much alive as it continues to haunt pop culture and literary theory alike. Literary critics have never ceased to engage with the novel and its myriad adaptations. From its lasting impact on science fiction and the fantastic to its emphasis on mediality and hybridity, it remains an enduring object of fascination. The M.A. students scheduled to talk about their work in progress will focus on feminist, postcolonial, ecocritical, and posthumanist approaches to the novel. We are cooperating with the YLAB to foster interactions between humanities departments and students at high schools in Lower Saxony. We are happy to welcome one speaker and some audience members from the "gymnasiale Oberstufe."

    International audience ; Inductive processes are used in many industrial processes and applied to various materials within a large frequency domain from Hz to MHz. In order to analyze the performance and to optimize inductive processes we develop a dedicated software coupling integral method and finite element method. Integral method is dedicated to model electromagnetic phenomenon and finite element method is used to model heat transfer and fluid mechanic. This software is developed for 2D and 3D configurations. In the article some results are given for various inductive processes.

    International audience ; Since 2008, epitaxial graphene growth has been developed in terms of homogeneity and scale by using a 1 ATM argon pressure at high temperature (>1650°C). Until now, it still remains challenging to obtain films with different and controlled characteristics such as the thickness or the doping by tuning the growth parameters. Here, we optimized the epitaxial growth of monolayer graphene (1LG) on 4H-SiC (0001) under a low argon pressure of 10 mbar. This intermediate pressure allows growing a continued 1LG in a short process ~1h30.First, we discuss the initial growth stages from buffer layer to 1LG as a function of annealing temperature (same heating rate). The combined Raman spectroscopy and atomic force microscopy analyses show that a buffer layer, fully covering the Si-face of SiC, forms as the first step of growth. Subsequently, 1LG starts to grow at step edges and continue to cover the buffer layer on terraces with a step-flow growth mechanism. Eventually, reproducible syntheses of 1LG films were achieved by this temperature-controlled growth process. Then, we investigate the structural and electronic properties of the 1LG films. The integrated intensity of G-band in Raman spectra normalized with respect to a HOPG reference, AG/AG-HOPG, of each spectrum in Raman map of our continued graphene film is very close to the experimental value reported for a 1LG, demonstrating the good homogeneity. Atomically resolved scanning tunnellingmicroscopy (STM) evidences a (6x6) superstructure, indicative of 1LG covering a reconstructed interface layer[7]. Regarding the transport measurement, quantum Hall plateau values observed in our graphene layers confirmed both continuity and thickness of the1LG film. Moreover, we estimated a hole concentration of p~10^10 - 10^11 /(cm^2) at 1.7 K in helium atmosphere. We ascribe this unusual doping type to an atmosphere contamination effect since we regain the typical n-doped graphene under vacuum by transport measurement and STM analysis.

    Zentrum und Peripherie wurde zum leitenden Thema der gleichnamigen Konferenz, die vom 25. bis 27. Mai 2016 an der Schlesischen Universität Opava stattfand. Die Tagung, an der beinahe 90 Fachleute aus 9 Ländern teilnahmen, wurde vom Germanistenverband der Tschechischen Republik und der Germanistischen Abteilung des Instituts für Fremdsprachen der Schlesischen Universität Opava organisiert. Die Tagung verfolgte das Ziel, Zentrum und Peripherie in unterschiedlichen Bereichen zu untersuchen und einen Überblick über neue Methoden und Erkenntnisse im Bereich der sprachwissenschaftlichen, literarischen und didaktischen Forschungen in fünf Sektionen zu bieten: Die deutsche Sprache: Zentrum und Peripherie; Korpuserstellung und -analyse; Literatur interkulturell vs. transkulturell; Kanon und Norm in Literatur und Literaturdidaktik; Fehler und ihre Behandlung, und stellte eine Vielzahl an Fragestellungen und eine Vielzahl an Ansätzen vor. Zentrum und Peripherie (Centre and Periphery) was the main topic of the conference with the same title that was held from 25th to 27th May 2016 at Silesian University in Opava. The gathering of almost 90 experts from nine countries was organized by the Association for German Studies in the Czech Republic together with the Department of German Studies at Silesian University in Opava. The main objective of the conference was to investigate the centre and the periphery of the language from various points of view and provide an overview of new methods and findings in the field of linguistic, literary and didactic research. Within the individual contributions, many questions were posed and many different approaches presented in relation to the given issues, all of which took place in five sections: Centre and Periphery of the German Language, Creation and Analysis of a Language Corpus, Literature Approached Interculturally vs. Transculturally, Canon and Norm in Literature and Didactics of Literature, Error and How to Deal with It.

Die breite thematische und historische Streuung der hier versammelten Aufsätze sowie die Vielfalt ihrer Methoden lassen die vielseitige Anschlussfähigkeit des Rahmenthemas erkennen, für die Mediävistik ebenso wie für die Gegenwartsliteratur, für die soziologischen Aspekte von Literaturpreisen genauso wie für kulturwissenschaftliche Analysen. Darüber hinaus eröffnet der Band seinen Leserinnen und Lesern aber auch die Möglichkeit, innerhalb des hier gebotenen Einblicks in den Forschungsstand der tschechischen germanistischen Literaturwissenschaft und einiger ihrer Nachbarn ihre jeweils eigenen Zentren und Peripherien zu lokalisieren, zu verschieben und kritisch zu reflektieren. Zentrum und Peripherie (Centre and Periphery) was the main topic of the conference with the same title that was held from 25th to 27th May 2016 at Silesian University in Opava. The gathering of almost 90 experts from nine countries was organized by the Association for German Studies in the Czech Republic together with the Department of German Studies at Silesian University in Opava. The main objective of the conference was to investigate the centre and the periphery of the language from various points of view and provide an overview of new methods and findings in the field of linguistic, literary and didactic research. Within the individual contributions, many questions were posed and many different approaches presented in relation to the given issues, all of which took place in five sections: Centre and Periphery of the German Language, Creation and Analysis of a Language Corpus, Literature Approached Interculturally vs. Transculturally, Canon and Norm in Literature and Didactics of Literature, Error and How to Deal with It. A wide thematic and historical scope of the contributions published in this volume and the variety of the utilized methods are a proof of the complexity of the general topic, which may be approached historically, sociologically as well as culturologically. In addition, this volume allows its readers to take a look into the scientific research of the Czech Germanists and some of their neighbours and based on this view locate, shift and reflect on their own centres and peripheries.

    Zentrum und Peripherie wurde zum leitenden Thema der gleichnamigen Konferenz, die vom 25. bis 27. Mai 2016 an der Schlesischen Universität Opava stattfand. Die Tagung, an der beinahe 90 Fachleute aus 9 Ländern teilnahmen, wurde vom Germanistenverband der Tschechischen Republik und der Germanistischen Abteilung des Instituts für Fremdsprachen der Schlesischen Universität Opava organisiert. Die didaktische Sicht auf Zentrum und Peripherie stellt ins Zentrum der Überlegungen unter anderem das Thema 'Fehler', das eine fächerübergreifende Problematik, mit der sich neben Linguisten, Pädagogen, Didaktikern auch Soziologen und Psychologen beschäftigen, darstellt. Moderne Untersuchungen suchen z.B. Antworten auf die Fragen, was die Ursachen von Fehlern sind, und wie man sie klassifizieren kann. Man stellt sich auch die Frage, ob Fehler immer negativ zu betrachten sind, oder ob sie beim Lernen und Lehren auch von Nutzen sein können. Diskutiert werden auch Fragen nach dem Verhältnis von System, Norm, Kanon und Praxis. The didactic view of the centre and the periphery is dominated by the research in the area of errors, which is a topic that pertains to linguistics, pedagogy, and didactics as well as sociology and psychology. Modern studies search for answers to the questions of what are the causes of errors and how errors might be classified. Whether errors must only be viewed negatively or whether it is possible to utilize them when learning and teaching also remains a question to be answered. Often discussed is the relation between the system and the norm, the canon and the praxis. The majority of the conference contributions are published in three separate volumes.

    Eine der größten Herausforderungen des digitalen Zeitalters besteht womöglich darin, nicht zu resignieren angesichts der schieren Übermacht medial erzeugter „Fake News“ und anderer – politisch harmloserer – Sorten von Fact-Fictions, sondern Wege zu finden, mit den Verunsicherungen, Uneindeutigkeiten und auch mit bewussten Strategien der Irreführung informiert und differenziert umzugehen. Insbesondere die aufmerksame Beschäftigung mit ästhetischen Medien, die schon immer die Unterscheidung zwischen Fakten und Fiktionen bzw. die Überschreitung von deren Grenzen und darüber hinaus ihr Zirkulieren in Produktions-, Distributions- und Rezeptionskontexten zum Gegenstand hatten, kann dazu beitragen, auch auf dem zunehmend unübersichtlicher werdenden Terrain medial inszenierter und gesteuerter Kommunikation die Fähigkeit zu verbessern, mit Ereignissen, Situationen und Handlungen umzugehen, die nicht der Eindeutigkeit von ‚wahr‘ und ‚falsch‘, ,fiktiv‘ und ‚faktisch‘ entsprechen und sich auch nicht unbedingt eindeutig als bewusste Täuschung oder authentische (Selbst-)Darstellung bestimmen lassen. Die Beiträge des Bandes thematisieren und analysieren Fact-Fiction-Konstellationen in neueren und neuesten literarischen Texten, im Theater und im Film.

    This student conference celebrates the bicentennial of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein; or: The Modern Prometheus (1818). At 200, the novel is still very much alive as it continues to haunt pop culture and literary theory alike. Literary critics have never ceased to engage with the novel and its myriad adaptations. From its lasting impact on science fiction and the fantastic to its emphasis on mediality and hybridity, it remains an enduring object of fascination. The M.A. students scheduled to talk about their work in progress will focus on feminist, postcolonial, ecocritical, and posthumanist approaches to the novel. We are cooperating with the YLAB to foster interactions between humanities departments and students at high schools in Lower Saxony. We are happy to welcome one speaker and some audience members from the "gymnasiale Oberstufe."
