    "A stark departure from traditional philology, What is Authorial Philology? is the first comprehensive treatment of authorial philology as a discipline in its own right. It provides readers with an excellent introduction to the theory and practice of editing 'authorial texts' alongside an exploration of authorial philology in its cultural and conceptual architecture. The originality and distinction of this work lies in its clear systematization of a discipline whose autonomous status has only recently been recognised (at least in Italy), though its roots may extend back as far as Giorgio Pasquali. This pioneering volume offers both a methodical set of instructions on how to read critical editions, and a wide range of practical examples, expanding upon the conceptual and methodological apparatus laid out in the first two chapters. By presenting a thorough account of the historical and theoretical framework through which authorial philology developed, Paola Italia and Giulia Raboni successfully reconceptualize the authorial text as an ever-changing organism, subject to alteration and modification. What is Authorial Philology? will be of great didactic value to students and researchers alike, providing readers with a fuller understanding of the rationale behind different editing practices, and addressing both traditional and newer methods such as the use of the digital medium and its implications.     Although there is no shortage of works on the language of Lycophron's Alexandra, more circumstantial studies on various morphological, lexical, and semantic issues are still needed. The linguistic and philological studies collected here try to partially remedy this lack: the object of research is nominal compounding, a very relevant phenomenon in the Alexandra. Several compounds (hapax and primum dicta) are analyzed in their context of occurrence in order to highlight their pragmatic and literary value; however, where possible, general considerations are not waived. In this sense, this book can also serve as a propaedeutic tool for the exegesis of some passages of the Alexandra

    At the dawn of the Renaissance, Liber Catulli was difficult to read not only for the text but also for the arrangement of the poems: few were identified, even less had titles or graphical devices to mark them. After a century, nevertheless, the book became a poetic collection in modern terms: what happened?This work provides an overview of the process, comparing paratestual evidences in latest manuscripts and first printed editions of Catullus, in order to better understand his concrete transmission, types of book or poem titles used by scribes and their relations with the meaning of the text. Following a time criterion, the author collected the most relevant paratextual facts in witnesses, searching for the innovations and constants: the first seems to coincide with philological vanguards of the XV century, while the second sheds useful lights on contamination phenomenon, that deeply affects the transmission of Catullus. This book helps to trace an outline of the comprehension of the poems and fata libelli from the late XIV to early XVI century.

    This essay traces and analyses the various representations of technology in Claudio Magris’ work. From the answering machines of Le voci to the war machines of Non luogo a procedere, a controversial and conflicting relationship has always been established between the protagonists of Magris’ narratives and the various declinations of technological progress. The essay explores the concepts of cognitive sciences and digital humanities (such as the “extended mind” and word embeddings), while also referring to Magris’ own reflections on writing and figureheads, to illustrate the profoundly ethical value of the relationship established between human beings and the tools that they create.

    The intervention addresses three metaphysical and fantastical exemplary works from the twentieth century - Ebdòmero, La partenza dell’Argonauta, Il Mar delle Blatte – in which the theme of travel finds expression through different textual models. In the first case, De Chirico uses the archetypical model of Ulysses’ journey against a background of fantastic metaphysical imagery. In the second Savinio creates a parodistic rewriting of the Argonautiche by Apollonio Rodio – the mythical trip par excellence, while in the third (Il mar delle blatte) Landolfi recalls the characters of Salgari’s adventure novels. All three texts represent imaginary travels towards an unreachable elsewhere, symbolically represented by a paradisiacal Island, lost and dreamt of also by the sailor Pessoa.

    The present contribution aims at discussing the many late medieval and early modern interpretations elaborated in urban and (post)communal Italy on nobility. It does so by attentively analysing the first book of the La Repubblica di Genova, written around 1550 by Uberto Foglietta, a Genoese patrician and a future historian of the city. Foglietta’s libello therefore is a good starting point to reinterpret the vexata quaestio of being noble both in 16th century Genoa, and in the broader context of Renaissance Italian urban culture.

    The current essay aims to highlighting the importance of Magris’ Utopia e disincanto. The year of its first publication (1999) was a watershed moment in his career, as it paved the way to a new season of public engagement and historical analysis, which can be also seen in his later essays and novels.     Trasversalmente, arte orale è ogni genere artistico che faccia uso della voce: antico o moderno; occidentale o extra-occidentale; popolare o autoriale; non scritto (nell'accezione consolidata della "tradizione orale") oppure anche scritto; non mediato oppure mediato dalla tecnologia audiovisiva; in tempo reale o differito; in loco o a distanza; linguistico o anche non linguistico; genere puro (poesia, vocalizzo extraverbale) o misto (teatro, melologo, canzone). E in generale è forma significante ma insieme anche materiale presenza, sonora e corporea. Questo volume raccoglie gli atti di un convegno svoltosi nel maggio 2019 presso l'Università IULM di Milano, che alle ordinarie sessioni accademiche affiancava anche "sessioni performative" artistiche. La prospettiva è necessariamente interdisciplinare: l'oralità è trattata come l'elemento comune che caratterizza arti diverse quali la poesia, la musica e il teatro, nonché le loro storiche commistioni (ad esempio il canto epico, la poesia lirica), fino a fenomeni contemporanei come il rap, il poetry slam, la vocal performance art. Sono convocati a dialogare studiosi di differente estrazione: estetica, teoria letteraria, poesia contemporanea, metrica, linguistica, (etno)musicologia, storia del teatro, performance studies. L'interazione dei vari punti di vista consente di affrontare l'oralità nella sua valenza trasversale e, al tempo stesso, negli aspetti specifici propri di ciascuna espressione artistica.

    Il presente volume intende fornire al lettore gli strumenti teorici di base per affrontare la progettazione di e-learning per la lingua giapponese. La monografia, tramite la disamina del caso di studio JaLea, prende in considerazione aspetti degli artefatti digitali raramente indagati nella letteratura sui software per l’apprendimento, ma fondamentali per aumentare la motivazione del discente, ovvero: il sistema, l’interfaccia, la navigazione e la grafica. In particolare, viene introdotto un quadro di riferimento per l’analisi delle strategie di esperienza utente e sostenibilità, adattabili anche a differenti esigenze di progettazione di applicativi per lo studio delle lingue straniere.
