Und zwar in dem Sinn, dass die Gefühle, Gedanken und Absichten inseinem Inneren ansetzen, sich aber auf die Außenwelt und deren Herausforderungen richten. Der Beitrag verdeutlicht diese Entsprechung von Innen und Außen anhand der Themen"Aufrichtigkeit" (Weisheitstexte), "Liebe zu Gott" (Deuteronomium) sowie "Lob und Klage" (Individualpsalmen).

    In this study I outline the scholarship pertaining to the Peshiṭta of Isaiah (S-Isa) and expound on specific topics in need of further research. I begin by recounting the process of S-Isa’s manuscript collation and its culmination in Leiden’s editio minor. Relatedly, I explain the role of citations in the patristic literature for reconstructing the original text of S-Isa. Then, I address how scholars approach the question of S-Isa’s relation to the Old Greek (G-Isa) and Targum (T-Isa) of Isaiah. I move on to summarize the studies on the translation technique of S-Isa and explain how they have aided in determining the degree to which S-Isa may have been influenced by G- and T-Isa. I continue by adumbrating the debate on the authorship and theology of S-Isa and problematizing certain assumptions brought to the discussion. I conclude by offering a few reflections on the future of S-Isa scholarship.

    Building on recent studies of Jesus's social network, this article seeks to explore how the relational dynamics surrounding Jesus's life and ministry are depicted differently in the canonical Gospels. Using different perspectives and methods than those usually employed by biblical scholars, the network analyses provide rich illustrations and descriptions of structural dynamics that have not traditionally been the focus of Gospel scholarship. Analyses examine the extent to which the Gospels' social networks overlap, as well as differences in levels of relational prominence and in relational structures across the Gospels. The results provide a unique window into the relational dynamics portrayed by the Gospels, producing a variety of insights, some which may not surprise biblical scholars but others which hopefully will inspire further consideration.

    The father-son relationship has long been a cornerstone of psychoanalytic research. This article examines one such relationship, as present in Joseph Roth's novel "Zipper and His Father" ("Zipper und sein Vater", 1928), in the relevant historical and psycho-social context. Tracing a parallel between the fatherly figure of the Austro-Hungarian Emperor, Franz Joseph, and Arnold Zipper's father, as well as drawing upon the narrator's (and Roth's own) personal experience, the article presents an analysis of the importance of the fatherly figure and the devastating consequences of its absence. A relação pai-filho é uma das pedras angulares da pesquisa psicanalítica. Este artigo examina tal relação, assim como se apresenta no romance "Zipper und sein Vater" (1928, "Zipper e seu pai"), de Joseph Roth, em um contexto histórico e psicossocial relevante. Traçando um paralelo entre a figural paternal do Imperador Austro-Húngaro, Franz Joseph, e o pai de Arnold Zipper, e valendo-se da experiência pessoal do narrador (e do próprio Roth), o artigo apresenta uma análise da importância da figura e as consequências devastadoras de sua ausência.
