    Abstract: "Endeavours to understand the complex interactions between society and environment have stimulated a lively debate over the prerequisites for interdisciplinarity and integrated environmental research. One highly contested issue is whether, and to what extent, interdisciplinarity can be achieved within the framework of present academic structures, considering their strong disciplinary orientation. Some scholars see a need for a fundamental reorganisation of science and its links back to society, in order to be able to develop trans-disciplinary and problem-oriented knowledge. Other authors reject this position and highlight the need for strictly disciplinary research which then has to be integrated into interdisciplinary re-search by appropriate organisational means.     Abstract: As one of the outstanding Iranian playwrights, Akbar Radi (1939-2007) is known to be influenced by Henrik Ibsen and Anton Chekhov. Occasionally by his critics, he was called as "The Persian Chekhov" but they never expounded comprehensively the details of the given epithet which might be derived from similarities, influences and inspirations among Radi and Chekov. By analyzing these similarity cases, this essay attempts to figure out whether this resemblance is resulted from the conscious impressionability. Odoyevsky (1803-1869) was the Russian writer, philosopher, musicologist and subtle musical critic, public figure, founder of "Society of philosophy-lovers" and author of "Motley Tales with Witticisms", fascinating monument of native culture; the book was published only once during the life of the writer and afterwards was not republished as the cycle. In literary criticism "Motley Tales" as the unified and important cycle by V. F. Odoyevsky were given scant coverage, although this literary work marked the beginning of new period in the writer's oeuvre; an image of narrator Homoseyko is especially interesting because it is not only the intellectual hero, but also the alter ego of the writer. "Motley Tales" manifest a unique opportunity of watching the rising of themes and motives which will be revealed in the writer's creation later, as well as following the formation of philosophical, aesthetic and artistic principles of author, as his fairy tales include the patterns

    Abstract: "The dynamics of the ethnical structurization of labour markets is an important research issue in the US since the early 1970s. The concepts developed in these debates especially that of enclave economies cannot be easily transferred into the European or German context. The reasons are major differences in the national production regimes as well as in migration systems and history. This paper sketches a framework for research that views economic activities of ethnic groups as integral parts of the overall economy and its dynamics. The latter is actually characterized by profound trends of restructuring. It is one of our central arguments that these developments show contradictory elements concerning social, cultural and spatial aspects. These highly contingent constellations open specific structures of economic opportunities for migrants/ ethnic minorities; however, they are also associated with risks.     Abstract: "The basic assumption of this paper is that labor markets are structured by various characteristics. Not all groups of the population do have equal access to the labor market. Additionally, citizenship and national origin ('ethnicity') influence the employees' positioning within the labor market. In the United States, which views itself as a country of immigration, the ethnicization of particular sectors of the labor market as well as the development of 'ethnic enclaves' and the development of the affiliated 'ethnic businesses' have been analyzed for a number of years. The discussion will be drawn out on the basis of the related scientific literature to date.     Abstract: "In diesem Beitrag wird der Frage nachgegangen, wie sich die europäische Integration auf den Wettbewerb auswirkt. Am Beispiel der beiden Hauptsegmente nichtalkoholischer Getränke - kohlensäurehaltige 'Softdrinks' und Mineralwasser - wird untersucht, ob sie sich im Hinblick auf die geographische Ebene, auf der Wettbewerb stattfindet, unterscheiden. Die empirischen Ergebnisse deuten darauf hin, daß die Unternehmen in Europa in beiden Segmenten im Wettbewerb stehen. Interessanterweise wird der europäische Markt eher durch Unternehmensstrategien integriert, die in wachsendem Maße multinational ausgerichtet sind, als durch zunehmende Handelsströme. Bei der Interpretation der Ergebnisse stützt sich die Autorin auf die neue Theorie der Marktstruktur, derzufolge in Industrien mit endogenen versunkenen Kosten - und hierzu zählt auch die Getränkeindustrie - die traditionell inverse Beziehung zwischen Marktstruktur und Marktvolumen angesichts der hohen Overhead-Ausgaben aufgehoben wird."     Abstract: "Der Aufsatz untersucht mit einem Auktionsmodell des Bankenwettbewerbs den Zusammenhang zwischen der Anzahl der im Wettbewerb stehenden Banken, der Qualität der zu finanzierenden Firmen und den Anreizen der Banken, Kreditwürdigkeitsprüfungen durchzuführen. Es wird gezeigt, daß, wenn man die Kosten des Informationserwerbs mit in Betracht zieht, die Wohlfahrt mit der Anzahl der Wettbewerber sinken kann. Im Allgemeinen erzeugt eine höhere Anzahl von Banken mehr Wohlfahrtsgewinn mit Firmen von schlechter Qualität, wohingegen ein engeres Bankenoligopol bessere Ergebnisse mit sehr guten Firmen erzielt."     Abstract: The level of bank development has a determinant effect on the growth potentials of a developing economy. In response, this study examined the impact of banking sector development on foreign investment inflows in the West African countries of Nigeria and Ghana. The study relied on secondary data for analysis and made use of multiple regression technique. However, to ensure the authenticity of our result, Augmented Dickey-Fuller unit root test and Johansen Cointegration techniques were respectively employed to test for the presence unit root and long-run equilibrium relationship in the exogenous variables. Additionally, causal relationships were tested with Granger Causality. It was revealed that banking sector development has a significant influence on foreign investment inflows in the two West African countries.
