Abstract: 'Human rights of immigrants have not been directly related to rights recognised to members of traditional minorities in some constitutional or international frameworks. However, immigration processes entail new demands of integrating linguistic rights within the public space and institutions. The Spanish example can open new challenges to multiculturalist approaches, since it brings together traditional and new linguistic diversity in a very significant level. In particular, new challenges arise in sub-state autonomous entities, as is the case in the Basque country, where linguistic diversity has been a traditional element of the society. These new multilingual realities challenge the traditional view of diversity and force us to rethink the substantial contents of some fundamental rights in order to accommodate democratically linguistic diversity in post-modern societies.' Abstract: Der Beitrag basiert auf den Ergebnissen einer aktuellen qualitativen Befragung im Prozess der Wanderungsplanung. Dieser Zugang ist, so die Verfasser, insofern neu, als dass die meisten Migrationsstudien Wanderungsmotive retrospektiv erfragen, wodurch sich Deutungsverschiebungen ergeben können, so beispielsweise bei der Überlagerung von Migrationsgründen durch Bleibegründe. Aus diesem Grund ist die Befragung in einem zeitlich nahen Abstand vor dem eigentlichen Migrationsereignis durchgeführt worden. Der Zugang zu der Untersuchungsgruppe erfolgt im Rahmen von Sprach- und Vorbereitungskursen sowie des Informationsveranstaltungen des Europaservice der Bundesagentur für Arbeit. Empirisch zeigt sich, so die Autoren, dass Arbeitslosigkeit in Deutschland bzw. die Suche nach Arbeit im Zielland ein wichtiges Motiv von Wanderungen ist. Abstract: "Social insurance systems are known to reproduce gender inequalities in the labour market because they are usually based on 'standard employment contracts' (full-time, permanent, dependent) and often take into account the household constellation through means-testing. Gender inequalities in the labour market consist of higher part-time employment rates, more frequent movements between employment and inactivity and on average lower wages among women. These inequalities are mainly due to the unequal distribution of household and family tasks between men and women. This paper will use the data of the European Household Panel to compare access to and level of unemployment benefits between men and women.
