    First published in 1858, "Padmini Upakhyan" is not only considered to have introduced a new expression of patriotism in Bengali literature but also as one of the first pieces of modern Bengali poetry. Based on James Tod's retelling of Rajasthani historical tales ("Annals and Antiquities of Rajasthan") the poem narrates the tale of Padmini, the Rani of Chittor. This monograph is from the private collection of Indranath Majumder, Kolkata, W.B., India.
