    Aborder l'œuvre de Cornelius Castoriadis à partir du projet d'autonomie, c'est tâcher d'en ressaisir la cohérence : foisonnante, pouvant paraître hétérogène, et prétendant dépasser l'opposition théorie / pratique, elle s'éclaire et s'ordonne dès qu'on la considère selon cet axe. La thèse soutenue est que l'attention portée par Castoriadis à l'effectivité de la réalité sociale et historique se mêle indissolublement à la question de l'autonomie, de sorte que tout chez lui peut et doit se comprendre à partir d'une interrogation principielle : comment l'autonomie est-elle possible ? Question qu'il faut entendre, suivant la polysémie du terme "possible", en un double sens : comment l'autonomie a-t-elle pu émerger dans l'histoire ? ; comment l'organiser ? Après avoir montré, en une première partie, comment la saisie de ce problème conduit Castoriadis à une prise de distance vis-à-vis du marxisme, la deuxième et la troisième partie envisagent, respectivement, ces deux questions To approach Cornelius Castoriadis's work from the project of autonomy, we first have to try and grasp its coherence : it is abundant, it can seem heterogeneous, and claim to go beyond the opposition theory / practice, therefore it becomes clearer and organized as soon as we consider it according to this axis. The defended thesis here is that Castoriadis's attention regarding the effectiveness of social and historical reality is inextricably linked to the question of autonomy, so that for him everything can and has to be understood from a basic question: How is autonomy possible ? A question which has to be understood according to the double meaning of the word "possible": how could autonomy appear in history ? How can it be organized ? The first part of this work will try and show how the grasp of this problem leads Castoriadis to distance himself from Marxism; the second and third parts will respectively focus on these two questions
