    Jerusalem - earthly and heavenly, past, present and future - has always informed the Christian imagination: it is the intersection of the divine and human worlds, of time and eternity. Since the fourth century, it has been the site of the round Church of the Holy Sepulchre, built over the empty tomb acknowledged by Constantine as the tomb of Christ. Besuchende fragen nach Sinn und Bedeutung von Bildern, Skulpturen, Inschriften und dem Raum als solchem, vor allem, wenn Kirchenräume von Menschen unterschiedlicher Denk- und Glaubenshaltungen genutzt werden. Diese Zunahme der Attraktivität macht die Notwendigkeit offensichtlich, Kirchenräume als gebauten Text des christlichen Glaubens neu zu erschliessen. Die Autorinnen und Autoren verbinden theoretische Zugänge und praktische Einblicke: Nach einem einführenden theologischen Teil folgen Beiträge zur Kirchenraumpädagogik sowie Seitenblicke in die Kunstgeschichte und die Architektur. Den Abschluss bilden praktische Werkstattberichte. So ergeben sich neue Einsichten zur Frage, wie Kirchenräume verstanden und erschlossen werden.
