    Abstract: Die vorliegende Studie ist das Ergebnis eines Forschungsvorhabens des Deutschen Instituts für Entwicklungspolitik (DIE). Ziel der Studie ist es, zu einem besseren Verständnis des Themas beizutragen und zu helfen, sowohl die Reaktionsfähigkeit der entwicklungspolitischen Akteure in Bezug auf non-state armed groups/nichtstaatliche Gewaltakteure (NSAG) in Krisensituationen als auch ihre Möglichkeiten im Umgang mit NSAG zur Konfliktbearbeitung zu verbessern. Hintergrund des Forschungsvorhabens sind Situationen gewalttätiger Auseinandersetzungen, mit denen Entwicklungspolitik in vielen Ländern und Regionen konfrontiert ist. Nichtstaatliche bewaffnete Gruppierungen sind ein Hauptmerkmal innerstaatlicher Konflikte und vieler regionaler Kriege. Typische Erscheinungsformen nichtstaatlicher Gewaltakteure sind Rebellenarmeen, Kriegsherren oder Terroristen. Unter NSAG werden im Rahmen der vorliegenden Untersuchung Gruppen verstanden, die durch ihr Handeln das Gewaltmonopol des Staates in Frage

    Abstract: Die vorliegende Studie erörtert die Möglichkeiten und Grenzen entwicklungspolitischer Dreieckskooperationen mit Ankerländern. Ankerländer sind aufstrebende wirtschaftliche und politische Mächte, ohne deren Engagement die Lösung aktueller und zukünftiger Weltprobleme kaum möglich scheint. Kapitel zwei diskutiert zunächst die Ziele der an Dreieckskooperationen beteiligten Ländergruppen. Hier wird deutlich, dass jede der drei Gruppen komplexe, teilweise widerstreitende Zielsetzungen verfolgt, so dass es wichtig ist, gleichgerichtete und konfligierende Interessen zu identifizieren. Projektbezogene Kooperation ist nur sinnvoll, wenn Interessenlagen weitgehend gleichgerichtet sind. Bei deutlich abweichenden Positionen der Neuen Geber kommen gemeinschaftliche Projekte in Drittländern zwar nicht in Betracht, aber es ist gerade dann wichtig, im Dialog zu bleiben und sich um eine Harmonisierung der Interessen zu bemühen.     Abstract: "In the immediate post-Apartheid period many commentators gave the country, and the newly elected African National Congress (ANC) government, short shrift. Whilst there was a predominant air of hope an underlying 'Afro-pessimism' was prevalent. Now, after more than 10 years of sustained - albeit fairly sedentary - economic expansion and a recent acceleration in the growth trajectory opinions are being revised. This re-evaluation is naturally supported by the government. But significant domestic problems remain. These problems play out in South Africa's approach to global economic and political relations, and underpin the analysis in this report. How might these dynamics play out in specific 'global structural domains' in the future? This report is structured as follows: Part two considers South Africa in the global and African contexts. It begins by reviewing South Africa's integration into and prospects in the global economy. Then it considers the domestic socio-economic dynamics
