    Abstract: Am Beispiel des experimentellen Erzählens in der polnischen Prosa der 90er Jahre werden in dem Beitrag die Veränderungen in der polnischen Literaturlandschaft nach der politischen Wende untersucht. Die Inhalte von vier Erzählbänden aus der polnischen Prosapalette der späten 80er und der ersten Hälfte der 90er Jahre werden dargestellt, um den Zustand der nationalen Literatur zu dokumentieren. Es wird deutlich, daß die neue polnische Prosa mit einer Reihe von obsoleten Merkmalen europäischer Kultur abrechnen will. (ICA)

    Abstract: 'Im Rahmen der post-positivistischen Neuorientierung der Sozial- und Humanwissenschaften hat sich ein verstärktes Interesse an der Erzählung und dem Erzählen herausgebildet. Dabei geht es nicht allein um ein weiteres Untersuchungsfeld, sondern um einen neuen intellektuellen Stil, der sich an hermeneutisch-interpretativen Traditionen orientiert. Im Rückgriff auf diskurspsychologische, konversationsanalytische, literaturwissenschaftliche und sprachphilosophische Überlegungen wird diskutiert, warum das Studium der Narration auch für die Psychologie eine viel versprechende Perspektive anbietet. In einer kritischen Diskussion herkömmlicher erzähl-theoretischer Konzeptionen wird dafür plädiert, das Erzählen als eine soziale und diskursive Praxis zu verstehen, und zwar im Sinne Wittgensteins als Sprachspiel und Lebensform.'     Abstract: Poststrukturalistische sowie postmoderne Sprachphilosophie hat vielleicht die Zeit, da sie in aller Munde war, schon wieder hinter sich. Gleichwohl verankert sich gegenwärtig unter ihrem Einfluss ein Konsens darüber, dass sprachliche Zeichengefüge nicht eine ihnen vorgängige Wirklichkeit abbilden, sondern dass das, was als wahr und wirklich bezeichnet wird, ein Ergebnis sprachlicher Kommunikation darstellt. In unserer Disziplin ist dies eine Einsicht, die sich seit etwa eineinhalb Jahrzehnten insbesondere der Soziale Konstruktionismus (Gergen 1985) und die Kulturpsychologie (Bruner 1986, 1990) zu eigen gemacht haben. Sie treffen sich im Konzept eines narrativen Konstruktionismus (Gergen & Gergen 1988). Dessen zentrale These lautet: Wir stellen uns selbst und unsere Welt her, indem wir Geschichten ("narratives") erzählen, wiedererzählen und umerzählen.     Abstract: The world that DeLillo's characters live in is often portrayed with an inherent complexity beyond our comprehension, which ultimately leads to a quality of woe and wonder which is characteristic of the concept of the sublime. The inexpressibility of the events that emerge in DeLillo’s fiction has reintroduced into it what Lyotard calls "the unpresentable in presentation itself" (PC 81), or to put it in Jameson’s words, the "postmodern sublime" (38). The sublime, however, appears in DeLillo's fiction in several forms and it is the aim of this study to examine these various forms of sublimity. It is attempted to read DeLillo's Mao II in the light of theories of the sublime, drawing on figures like Burke, Kant, Lyotard, Jameson and Zizek. In DeLillo's novel, it is no longer the divine and magnificent in nature that leads to a simultaneous fear and fascination in the viewers, but the power of technology and sublime violence among other things. A traditional postmodernist as some of the critics calls him; he was obsessed with Scheherazade the narrator of the Thousand and one Nights and her art of storytelling. He uses these emblems in order to subvert their meanings and manifest the discrepancies between characters' living in the West and the realities they confront. In his play, A Lie of the Mind, Sam Shepard reflects on the traditional meanings of myth and the erasure of them in the postmodern societies. Furthermore, the postmodern universe in these three plays is bombarded with representation and distortions of reality, and hyperreality which make reality be masked and obscure.     Abstract: The modes of narration in postmodernist fiction are not identical with those of modernists and realists. They contravene readers' expectations, making them most often astounded and baffled. This study sets out to discuss some of the techniques used by the American writer Robert Coover in his story collection; Pricksongs & Descants (1969) which are associated with postmodernist fiction. These strategies including metafictional techniques, fragmentation, ontological concern, and temporal distortion, will in the subsequent sections of this paper be explicated and elucidated. In this regard, the term postmodernism will be first defined and elaborated, and then some of the salient features of Coover's selected work stated above, will be examined in order to demonstrate the title-mentioned claim. Not all the stories of the collection will in this study be provided an analysis of, but those which are of greater significance and are noticeable in incorporating postmodern strategies

    Abstract: Der Selbstmord Kleists ist zum Anlaß genommen worden, die Hintergründe der postmodernen Rede vom Tode des Subjekts zu erforschen. In meinem Beitrag möchte ich zeigen, daß Selbsterhaltungsmotive nicht ausschließlich dem aufklärerischen Projekt der Selbstreflexion und daß agonale Impulse nicht nur der spätromantischen Bezugnahme auf das "Andere der Vernunft" eigen sind, sondern daß Selbstreflexion und die Orientierung auf "das Andere" durch eine grundsätzliche Ambiguität gekennzeichnet sind. Daß Reflexion das Mittel der Versöhnung von Gegensätzen sein könnte, ist die Hoffnung der Aufklärung. Sie hält am Programm der Herstellung von Einheit fest, auch dann, als die durch die Modernisierungsprozesse unmittelbar hervortretenden Effekte der Rationalisierung diese Hoffnung zweifelhaft erscheinen lassen.     Abstract: This article addressed identity reconstruction through an analysis of two of the most prominent fictional works by one of the Chinese Indonesian young writers, Audrey Yu Jia Hui. In encompassing the idea of identity rewriting, I addressed Hui's second and third novels respectively, Mellow Yellow Drama (2014) and Mencari Sila Kelima (Searching for the Fifth Principle, 2015), through the post-structural concepts of Derrida's deconstruction, and also in relation to cultural studies views on identity. The works were analyzed through close-reading technique. The novels were published during the Reformation (Reformasi) era, where politics had served to be a profound aspect that directed the cultural identity and social attitude of the society. In a range of aspects, from narrative structure to their deeper themes, Hui’s literary works were found to draw on a distinguishable set of strategies which enabled Hui to establish her own identity as someone who was liberated, culturally accepted
