ger: The principle of Zhongyong, deriving from Confucianism, is used as a backbone to support the observation of the status quo of English literature teaching/learning in China, with a focus on some existing problems, which result from violating the Zhongyong principle. Zhongyong is also used as a yardstick to observe reader-response theories in the Western literary criticism. Five versions are discussed, namely, Rosenblatt's transactional theory, Iser's theory of aesthetic response, Benton's theory of the "secondary world", Delanoy's dialogical theory and subjective criticism. Zhongyong features are found in these versions. Zhongyong and reader response have been incorporated to construct a basis for some pedagogical action research and for proposing a Zhongyong model, which integrates student-oriented and teacher-oriented approaches, process-based and product-based approaches. eng: keine Zusammenfassung erhältlich
