    Abstract: Nowadays is growing importance of interdisciplinary research and in the field of cultural diversity, multiculturalism and intercultural cooperation. It is important also to take into account the global processes of changes associated with the dissemination of digital information and communication technologies. One of the theories which are essential in this area of research is the concept by E. Sapir and B.L. Whorf. The purpose of the article is to introduce into a current condition of scientific dispute concerning the views of these authors on the relationship between language and cognition. Paper is based on a critical analysis of the literature. In conclusion, the main findings and recommendations for further research were identified

    The book is an analysis of contemporary Polish Holocaust children's literature basing on the classical reception studies. It consists of a description of the ancient labyrinth, presentation of the relationship between the labyrinth and the experience of the Holocaust, and an analysis of selected texts of Polish children's literature. The final part is a reflection on the relationship between the myth and the Holocaust and possible consequences of using classical archetypes in the story of the Holocaust.- Autor zgłębia współczesną polską literaturę dziecięcą o Zagładzie, wykorzystując badania nad recepcja? antyku. Prezentuje źródła, które wpłynęły na współczesne postrzeganie antycznego labiryntu, ukazuje związki między labiryntem a doświadczeniem Zagłady, dokonuje analizy wybranych tekstów polskiej literatury dziecięcej. Rozważa także zagadnienie relacji między mitem a Zagłada? i możliwymi konsekwencjami wykorzystania archetypów antycznych w opowieści o Holokauście. Proponuje nowe spojrzenie zarówno na twórczość dla najmłodszych, jak i reprezentację Holokaustu w kulturze oraz stosunek do tradycji starożytnej, adresując tym samym publikację do szerokiego grona odbiorców, w tym literaturoznawców, pedagogów, nauczycieli, bibliotekarzy.

    Das Buch setzt sich mit der Problematik der interkulturellen Motivation unter den polnischen und US-amerikanischen DaF-Lernenden auseinander. Die interkulturelle Motivation ist ein potentieller Teil des Motivationskomplexes, wobei das Wechselspiel zwischen der Eigenkultur und der Kultur des Zielsprachenlandes grundlegend für diese Motivationsart ist. Der Autor geht der Frage nach, inwieweit kulturspezifische Faktoren und unterschiedliche Bezüge zu der Zielsprachenkultur die Motive zum Erlernen von Deutsch als Fremdsprache beeinflussen und wie sie sich auf die interkulturelle Motivation der Deutschlernenden in unterschiedlichen Ausgangskulturen auswirken. Erkenntnisse der Studie können für die Weiterentwicklung von Lehrprogrammen, Lehrwerken und Lehrmethoden nützlich sein und zur Förderung des interkulturellen Ansatzes in der DaF-Didaktik beitragen. «Diese Untersuchung besticht sowohl vom theoretischen Ansatz als auch von der empirischen Durchführung her. Sie ist so gediegen wie überzeugend und eröffnet eine Vielzahl weiterführender Forschungsperspektiven. Darüber hinaus lassen sich aus ihren Befunden wichtige Anleitungen zur künftigen Verbesserung des DaF-Unterrichts ableiten.» Prof. Dr. Ulrich Ammon
