    In diesem Gleichnisband werden 59 rabbinische Gleichnisse hebräisch wiedergegeben, kritisch übersetzt, literaturgeschichtlich kommentiert und inhaltlich erklärt. Die Gleichnisse sind literarisch konstruierte Erzählungsabläufe im Dienste der Bibelauslegung. Dieser Band betrifft die Gleichnisexegese des zweiten Buches Mose, Kapitel 15-22. Das spättalmudische Werk Shemot Rabba (großer Kommentar zum Buch Exodus) übernimmt die traditionelle rabbinische Gleichnisform und passt sie sporadisch der frühmittelalterlichen griechischen und lateinischen Fachterminologie an. Oft werden talmudische Gesetze und Gebetstexte gleichrangig mit Bibelstellen zitiert. Diese und andere Beobachtungen weisen auf eine Endredaktion von Shemot Rabba im 9.-11. Jh. unserer Zeitrechnung hin. - Auffallend sind die zahlreichen Reich-Gottes-Gleichnisse und die gegenchristlichen Gleichnisse. Daneben gibt es Schöpfungsgleichnisse, Engelgleichnisse und Konversionsgleichnisse. Alle Gleichnisgattungen weisen auf eine literarisch und theologisch aufgearbeitete jüdische Verkündigungstradition in einer christlichen Umgebung hin. - Aus dem Inhalt: In den 59 Gleichnissen werden besonders die Befreiung der Israeliten aus der ägyptisch-heidnischen Knechtschaft, und ein damit verbunder Götzendienst, die Sinai-Offenbarung, die Bundesgenossenschaft Gottes mit Israel und die Verpflichtung der Israeliten zum Einhalt der Gebote Gottes gleichnishaft ausgedrückt.

    The paucity of material, which has limited the study of Aramaic for too long, is gradually being alleviated. An ever growing body of well-edited texts is being made available to the scholarly world. These publications have provoked a number of important and penetrating linguistical and grammatical studies. Generally, however, corresponding literary studies of these texts are still lacking. The present work is an attempt to add a literary approach to the earlier analyses. The study deals with Aramaic poetry of the period between c. 100 B.C.E. and c. 600 C.E. The discussion of the textual material is organized in a number of levels, one superimposed upon the other. The basis is formed by a close exegetical and literary reading of the poems to elucidate essential elements of content, style and form. Particular attention is paid to structure and composi tion as a function of the content of the poems, and to the use made by the poets of stylistic devices as structural elements.

    In diesem Gleichnisband werden 59 rabbinische Gleichnisse hebräisch wiedergegeben, kritisch übersetzt, literaturgeschichtlich kommentiert und inhaltlich erklärt. Die Gleichnisse sind literarisch konstruierte Erzählungsabläufe im Dienste der Bibelauslegung. Dieser Band betrifft die Gleichnisexegese des zweiten Buches Mose, Kapitel 15-22. Das spättalmudische Werk Shemot Rabba (großer Kommentar zum Buch Exodus) übernimmt die traditionelle rabbinische Gleichnisform und passt sie sporadisch der frühmittelalterlichen griechischen und lateinischen Fachterminologie an. Oft werden talmudische Gesetze und Gebetstexte gleichrangig mit Bibelstellen zitiert. Diese und andere Beobachtungen weisen auf eine Endredaktion von Shemot Rabba im 9.-11. Jh. unserer Zeitrechnung hin. - Auffallend sind die zahlreichen Reich-Gottes-Gleichnisse und die gegenchristlichen Gleichnisse. Daneben gibt es Schöpfungsgleichnisse, Engelgleichnisse und Konversionsgleichnisse. Alle Gleichnisgattungen weisen auf eine literarisch und theologisch aufgearbeitete jüdische Verkündigungstradition in einer christlichen Umgebung hin. - Aus dem Inhalt: In den 59 Gleichnissen werden besonders die Befreiung der Israeliten aus der ägyptisch-heidnischen Knechtschaft, und ein damit verbunder Götzendienst, die Sinai-Offenbarung, die Bundesgenossenschaft Gottes mit Israel und die Verpflichtung der Israeliten zum Einhalt der Gebote Gottes gleichnishaft ausgedrückt.
