    Allgemein verständliche Darstellung von Geschichte und Kultur der Kurden, in der auch die aktuelle Konfliktlage behandelt wird. Rezension: Die "kurdische Frage" ist ungelöst und weiterhin ausgesprochen konfliktträchtig, auch innerhalb der Ethnie. Dieser sachkundige Band (hier zuletzt 3. Auflage, 2010), der nun in einer 4., überarbeiteten und vom Zeithorizont in die unmittelbare Gegenwart reicht, gibt einen detaillierten und politisch ausgewogenen Einblick in die Geschichte und Kultur der Kurden. Man erfährt viel über die unterschiedliche Situation in den einzelnen Staaten, Syrien, Irak, Iran und der Türkei, in der rund die Hälfte der Kurden lebt. Aufschlussreich ist gerade der abschliessende Teil des Buches, der einen tiefen Einblick in die Lebenswelt der südost-anatolischen Stammesgruppen bietet. Nach wie vor in dieser Informationstiefe konkurrenzlos. Vorauflagen sollten makuliert werden. Nachdrückliche Empfehlung vor dem Hintergrund der aktuellen Ereignisse! (1)

    Allgemein verständliche Darstellung von Geschichte und Kultur der Kurden, in der auch die aktuelle Konfliktlage behandelt wird. Rezension: Die "kurdische Frage" ist ungelöst und weiterhin ausgesprochen konfliktträchtig, auch innerhalb der Ethnie. Dieser sachkundige Band (hier zuletzt 3. Auflage, 2010), der nun in einer 4., überarbeiteten und vom Zeithorizont in die unmittelbare Gegenwart reicht, gibt einen detaillierten und politisch ausgewogenen Einblick in die Geschichte und Kultur der Kurden. Man erfährt viel über die unterschiedliche Situation in den einzelnen Staaten, Syrien, Irak, Iran und der Türkei, in der rund die Hälfte der Kurden lebt. Aufschlussreich ist gerade der abschliessende Teil des Buches, der einen tiefen Einblick in die Lebenswelt der südost-anatolischen Stammesgruppen bietet. Nach wie vor in dieser Informationstiefe konkurrenzlos. Vorauflagen sollten makuliert werden. Nachdrückliche Empfehlung vor dem Hintergrund der aktuellen Ereignisse! (1)
