    Im Mittelpunkt der Arbeit steht die theoretische und empirische Analyse von Angebot und Nachfrage auf den Im- und Exportmärkten. Sie ist mit dem Ziel verknüpft, die Reagibilität von Preisen und Mengen im Außenhandel in Bezug auf Änderungen des realen Wechselkurses und der wirtschaftlichen Aktivität im In- und Ausland charakterisieren zu können. Zwei zentrale Anliegen werden in diesem Zusammenhang realisiert: bestehende theoretische Ansätze für das kurz- und langfristige Verhalten der Akteure auf den Im- und Exportmärkten werden in einem Modell zusammengefasst und in einigen Punkten weiterentwickelt. Die daraus abgeleiteten Hypothesen werden unter Ausschöfpfung des Instrumentariums der modernen Zeitreihenanalyse überprüft.
