    Das Kulturelle ist der Raum, in dem sich die Kongruenz von gesellschaftlicher Realität und subjektiver Wirklichkeitswahrnehmung aufgelöst hat. Referenzsysteme, die einst kollektive Gültigkeit besaßen, haben heute ihre Bedeutung verloren. Das kulturelle Kennzeichen der Spätmoderne ist deshalb das Dazwischen der Diskurse, die Lücke, eine Gegenwart ohne Ende, die Depression sowie das unvermittelte Erscheinen von Objekten, die Subjektivierungsprozesse als Entäußerungsvorgänge initiieren. Jochen Bonz analysiert diesen Paradigmenwechsel und entfaltet einen Begriff der Gegenwartskultur anhand eindringlicher Fallstudien aus dem Bereich des Films, der Literatur, der Popmusik sowie in der Bezugnahme auf kulturtheoretische Konzeptionen Pierre Bourdieus und Homi Bhabhas.
