    Dramaturgy of Migration: Staging Multilingual Encounters in Contemporary Theatre examines the function of dramaturgy and the role of the dramaturg in making a theatre performance situated at the crossroads of multiple theatre forms and performative devices. This book explores how these forms and devices are employed, challenged, experimented with, and reflected upon in the work of migrant theatre by performance and dance artists. Meerzon and Pewny ask: What impact do peoples' movement between continents, countries, cultures, and languages have on the process of meaning production in plays about migration created by migrant artists? What dramaturgical devices do migrant artists employ when they work in the context of multilingual production, with the texts written in many languages, and when staging performances that target multicultural and multilingual theatregoers? And, finally, how do the new multilingual practices of theatre writing and performance meet and transform the existing practices of postdramatic dramaturgies?     Das Prekäre ist nicht erst seit dem Einbruch der weltweiten Ökonomie 2008 ein Brennpunkt gegenwärtiger Existenzen. Wie wird es im Gegenwartstheater aufgegriffen und weiterentwickelt?Diese Studie analysiert Theater-, Tanz- und Film-Aufführungen um die Jahrtausendwende und bedient sich dafür der Methodik des »Überschreibens«. Ausgehend von Ethiken der Begegnung mit dem Anderen und von instabilen Ökonomien erweist sich dabei das Prekäre als ästhetische und ethische Kategorie. Katharina Pewny zeigt, dass die Übertragung des »Ethical Turn« in die Theaterwissenschaft des deutschen Sprachraums neue Wege eröffnet, die auch für verwandte Kunst- und Kulturwissenschaften relevant sind.

    This anthology provides some of today’s most relevant views on Sophocles’ classic and its many interpretations from an interdisciplinary, cross-cultural perspective. It critically investigates the work of artists and theoreticians who have occupied Antigone ever since she appeared onstage in antiquity, dealing with questions of the relationship between performance and philosophy and of how Antigone can be appropriated to criticize reigning discourses.     Das Prekäre ist nicht erst seit dem Einbruch der weltweiten Ökonomie 2008 ein Brennpunkt gegenwärtiger Existenzen. Wie wird es im Gegenwartstheater aufgegriffen und weiterentwickelt?Diese Studie analysiert Theater-, Tanz- und Film-Aufführungen um die Jahrtausendwende und bedient sich dafür der Methodik des »Überschreibens«. Ausgehend von Ethiken der Begegnung mit dem Anderen und von instabilen Ökonomien erweist sich dabei das Prekäre als ästhetische und ethische Kategorie. Katharina Pewny zeigt, dass die Übertragung des »Ethical Turn« in die Theaterwissenschaft des deutschen Sprachraums neue Wege eröffnet, die auch für verwandte Kunst- und Kulturwissenschaften relevant sind.
