    Politik und Religion stehen stets in einem prekären Verhältnis. Auch in der Religionspädagogik ist dies der Fall. Die einen sehen erst auf dem Feld der Öffentlichkeit und der Politik die eigentliche Pointe des Glaubens, die sich eben auch in der Form und dem Ansatz religiöser Bildung zu artikulieren habe. Die anderen sehen genau darin eine ungebührliche Politisierung der Religionspädagogik. Die vorliegenden Überlegungen bieten in dieser Spannung einen weiterführenden Vorschlag. Er beruht auf der bildungstheoretischen Konturierung einer politischen Dimension religiöser Bildung, die in einer kritisch-korrelativen Interdependenz mit anderen Dimensionen steht. Eine wesentliche Bedeutung kommt hierbei der Kategorie der Übersetzung zu. Politics and religion are always in a precarious relationship. This is also the case in religious education. Some see only in the field of the public and politics the actual point of faith, which has to be articulated in the form and approach of religious education. The others see precisely in this an undue politicization of religious education. The present considerations offer a further proposal in this tension. It is based on the contouring of a political dimension of religious education in education theory, which is in a critical-correlative interdependence with other dimensions. The category of translation plays an important role here.

    How worldwide plant circulation and new botanical ideas enabled Americans to radically re-envision politics and societyThe Garden Politic argues that botanical practices and discourses helped nineteenth-century Americans engage pressing questions of race, gender, settler colonialism, and liberal subjectivity. In the early republic, ideas of biotic distinctiveness helped fuel narratives of American exceptionalism. By the nineteenth century, however, these ideas and narratives were unsettled by the unprecedented scale at which the United States and European empires prospected for valuable plants and exchanged them across the globe. Drawing on ecocriticism, New Materialism, environmental history, and the history of science—and crossing disciplinary and national boundaries—The Garden Politic shows how new ideas about cultivation and plant life could be mobilized to divergent political and social ends. Reading the work of influential nineteenth-century authors from a botanical perspective, Mary Kuhn recovers how domestic political issues were entangled with the global circulation and science of plants. The diversity of Harriet Beecher Stowe’s own gardens contributed to the evolution of her racial politics and abolitionist strategies. Nathaniel Hawthorne’s struggles in his garden inspired him to write stories in which plants defy human efforts to impose order. Radical scientific ideas about plant intelligence and sociality prompted Emily Dickinson to imagine a human polity that embraces kinship with the natural world. Yet other writers, including Frederick Douglass, cautioned that the most prominent political context for plants remained plantation slavery. The Garden Politic reveals how the nineteenth century’s extractive political economy of plants contains both the roots of our contemporary environmental crisis and the seeds of alternative political visions

    Die Verschränkung von Heteronormativität, Homonormativität und hegemonialer Männlichkeit hat weitreichende Konsequenzen für die Darstellung wichtiger Momente und Akteure der LGBTQIAN+ Geschichte. Die Autorin untersucht, wie die Filme Howl, Stonewall und Milk die Emanzipation ihrer Protagonistinnen und Protagonisten inszenieren, während sie gleichzeitig ihre Unterdrückung reproduzieren und ihre Diskriminierung ästhetisieren und konsumierbar machen. Dieser Widerspruch steht sinnbildlich für neue Formen von Ausgrenzung, die subtiler funktionieren als unverhohlene Homophobie, unverblümter Sexismus oder offensichtlicher Rassismus und sich zugleich einer komplexeren Repräsentation von sozialen Erfahrungen verwehren sowie statische, abgrenzbare Identitäten verfestigen. The interrelationship between heteronormativity, homonormativity and hegemonic masculinity has widereaching ramifications for the representation of important moments and agents in LGBTQIAN+ history. In this study, the author examines how the films Howl, Stonewall and Milk enact the emancipation of their protagonists, while simultaneously reproducing their oppression and aestheticising their discrimination, thus making it consumable. This contradiction is emblematic of new forms of exclusion that function more subtly than blatant homophobia, outright sexism or overt racism, while at the same time rejecting a more complex repre-sentation of social experiences but instead solidifying static, definable identities.

    Eine vergessene Geschichte: Texte aus den Anfängen der Frauenforschung Annemarie Tröger gehörte in den 1970er Jahren zu den Begründerinnen der Frauenforschung im deutschsprachigen Raum. Mit ihrer feministischen Radikalität, die ein anti-disziplinäres Erkenntnisinteresse antrieb, war sie für viele Studentinnen und Kolleginnen wegweisend. Die Pionierin der Methode der Oral History wollte die Erfahrungen marginalisierter sozialer Gruppen in die Geschichte einschreiben und sie zugleich für eine Analyse gegenwärtiger Zustände nutzen und im Kampf gegen anhaltende Herrschaftsverhältnisse mobilisieren. Die Disziplinierung der Frauenforschung seit den 1980er Jahren verdrängte Intellektuelle wie Tröger und führte dazu, dass wichtige Impulse der frühen Frauenforschung heute in Vergessenheit geraten sind. In diesem Band werden ausgewählte Schriften Annemarie Trögers neu zugänglich gemacht und in Kommentaren ehemaliger Weggefährtinnen und Weggefährten als historische Quellen behandelt, die ein Stück bundesrepublikanischer, vor allem Westberliner Universitäts- und Wissenschaftsgeschichte, wieder freilegen. Annemarie Tröger (1939-2913) gehörte zur Gruppe der Initiatorinnen der ersten Berliner Sommeruniversitäten von 1976 und 1977, die ein Startschuss waren für die Entwicklung der bundesdeutschen Frauenforschung. Sie setzte sich früh mit dem Thema »Frauen und Nationalsozialismus« auseinander und war zugleich eine Pionierin der Oral History.

    The author devotes herself to the "trouble of affiliation" to which Derrida's entire work and oeuvre bears witness. In order to make this 'trouble' accessible to readers, this study on migration pedagogy discusses Derrida's contributions to science, ethics and politics, based on an interview with a female refugee and the integration plan of the German state. The readability of the 'trouble' in Derrida's works proves to be not only a question of subjective responsibility. Die Autorin widmet sich dem „Unbehagen an der Zugehörigkeit“, von dem Derridas gesamtes Wirken und Werk zeugt. Um dieses Unbehagen Lesenden zugänglich zu machen, diskutiert die migrationspädagogische Studie anhand eines Interviews mit einer geflüchteten Frau und des Integrationsplans der BRD Derridas Beiträge zur Wissenschaft, Ethik und Politik. Die Lesbarkeit des Unbehagens in Derridas Werken erweist sich dabei nicht nur als Frage subjektiver Verantwortung.

    How worldwide plant circulation and new botanical ideas enabled Americans to radically re-envision politics and societyThe Garden Politic argues that botanical practices and discourses helped nineteenth-century Americans engage pressing questions of race, gender, settler colonialism, and liberal subjectivity. In the early republic, ideas of biotic distinctiveness helped fuel narratives of American exceptionalism. By the nineteenth century, however, these ideas and narratives were unsettled by the unprecedented scale at which the United States and European empires prospected for valuable plants and exchanged them across the globe. Drawing on ecocriticism, New Materialism, environmental history, and the history of science—and crossing disciplinary and national boundaries—The Garden Politic shows how new ideas about cultivation and plant life could be mobilized to divergent political and social ends. Reading the work of influential nineteenth-century authors from a botanical perspective, Mary Kuhn recovers how domestic political issues were entangled with the global circulation and science of plants. The diversity of Harriet Beecher Stowe’s own gardens contributed to the evolution of her racial politics and abolitionist strategies. Nathaniel Hawthorne’s struggles in his garden inspired him to write stories in which plants defy human efforts to impose order. Radical scientific ideas about plant intelligence and sociality prompted Emily Dickinson to imagine a human polity that embraces kinship with the natural world. Yet other writers, including Frederick Douglass, cautioned that the most prominent political context for plants remained plantation slavery. The Garden Politic reveals how the nineteenth century’s extractive political economy of plants contains both the roots of our contemporary environmental crisis and the seeds of alternative political visions

The significance of religion for the development of modern racist antisemitism is a much debated topic – the Swedish case provides new insights into this debate. Relying on medieval models, nineteenth-century debates were informed by a comprehensive and mostly negative "knowledge" about Jews.

    Über das Lesen als Akt der weiblichen Selbstbestimmung. Monika Hinterberger begibt sich auf einen geschichtlichen Streifzug und verfolgt zahlreiche Spuren lesender Frauen zurück bis in die Antike. Anhand von Abbildungen, die Frauen mit Büchern zeigen, hinterfragt sie die Vorstellung, dass das weibliche Geschlecht über lange Zeiten hinweg des Lesens völlig unkundig war. Wo Frauen lesen lernten, welche Bücher sie aufschlugen und mit welchen Interessen und Erwartungen sie die Lektüre verfolgten, sind nur einige der Fragen, die die Autorin beantwortet. Deutlich wird vor allem eines: Lesen zu können schuf Voraussetzungen für selbstbestimmtes Handeln, es gab den Frauen die Möglichkeit, zu lernen, sich Bildung anzueignen und eigene Wege zu gehen. Und es konnte auf Neues, auf Unerwartetes weisen - auf eine Spur von Glück.
