Doch was ist an Hollywood als einer zentralen Gestalt des Erzählkinos in Zeiten des post cinema immer noch interessant?     A system theory analysis of the transformation processes in societal structures and semantics between 1519 and 1650 that led to social stratification in Mexico Die universellen Erklärungsansprüche von Luhmanns Systemtheorie überprüft Enrique Alcántara Granados, indem er die Entstehung Indigener Exklusion in Mexiko untersucht. Er leistet dadurch einen alternativen Beitrag zu soziologischen Forschungen, die sich spezifisch mit den sozialen Phänomenen der Geschichte Mexikos im 16. und 17. Jahrhundert und im Allgemeinen mit den Folgen des Kolonialismus beschäftigen. Die leitenden Fragen lauten dabei: Wie ändern sich Strukturen und Semantik von zeitlich fern liegenden Gesellschaften? Und wie entsteht soziale Exklusion durch Trivialereignisse, wenn man die Variable der intelligenten Planung und der Naturgesetze außer Acht lässt?

    Of the scientific world views of the 19th century, only Darwinism is still popular and expansive in the early 21st century. This volume shows: evolutionist patterns of interpretation - inspired by the spectacular success of genetics - have expanded into fields that previously seemed to be the exclusive domain of cultural and social scientists. Due to the growing interpretive power of evolutionism, thematic fields such as society, culture, morality, aesthetics, which used to represent the public identity of the humanities, are becoming subject to the biological pressure to adapt. This results in modern techniques of rule no longer addressing us as cultural collectives, but as biological individuals. With contributions by Fabian Deus, Anna-Lena Dießelmann, Luisa Fischer, Daniel Göcht, and Clemens Knobloch Von den wissenschaftlichen Weltanschauungen des 19. Jahrhunderts ist im frühen 21. Jahrhundert einzig der Darwinismus noch populär und expansiv.Der Band zeigt: Die evolutionistischen Deutungsmuster haben sich - beflügelt durch den spektakulären Erfolg der Genetik - auch in Gebieten ausgebreitet, die zuvor den Kultur- und Sozialwissenschaftlern vorbehalten schienen.     Our daily life is not just shaped by technologically generated virtual reality - in many areas, it is actually determined by it. The information society in which we live cultivates a natural relationship with devices that are always undergoing further development. Written off as mere semblance or unreality, the new phenomena of virtuality remain widely unreflected upon. Tobias Holischka's phenomenological analysis shows that the 'virtual place' as an assembling principle in particular is able to create a reality, one which - in marked contrast to the abstract concept of cyberspace - produces an ontological connection to the everyday human world, and which expands this reality in the process Unser Alltag ist von technisch erzeugter Virtualität nicht nur geprägt - er wird in vielen Bereichen durch sie bestimmt. Die Informationsgesellschaft pflegt einen selbstverständlichen Umgang mit sich immer weiter entwickelnden technischen Geräten. Als Schein oder Unwirklichkeit konnotiert, bleiben die neuen Phänomene der Virtualität dabei jedoch weitgehend unreflektiert. In his time diagnosis of friendship, Björn Vedder combines philosophical contemplations with the analysis of pop culture material as well as classics of literature.     In the "second modern age" masculinity is rejected yet demanded. Many men try to deal with this issue pragmatically. In a society that unitizes conflicts - i.e. differentiates them by turning them into single, flexible components - instead of depoliticizing them, the "new man" is also a unitized man. He will act strategically in various areas of his life and refers to the different parts of his identity, some of which contradict each other - the modules of his masculinity. Lothar Böhnisch presents an integrated theoretical approach that makes manhood and what it means to be a man the subject of discussion in a structural context, putting psychoanalytical as well as social dimensions in relation with each other while informing about gender theory and social theory in an innovative way. This new approach to men's studies in German language suggests linking them to other sociological disciplines that deal with men's studies Männlichkeit wird in der »Zweiten Moderne« gleichzeitig zurückgewiesen und doch aufgefordert. Viele Männer versuchen, damit pragmatisch umzugehen. In einer Gesellschaft, die Konflikte entpolitisiert und stattdessen modularisiert - d.h. sie in einzelne, flexible Teile differenziert -, ist auch der »Neue Mann« zugleich ein modularisierter Mann. Er verhält sich in unterschiedlichen Bereichen seines Lebens strategisch und greift jeweils auf die verschiedenen, teilweise widersprüchlichen Identitätsanteile, die Module seines Mannseins, zurück. Lothar Böhnisch stellt einen integrierten theoretischen Zugang vor, der Mannsein und Männlichkeit in einem strukturellen Zusammenhang thematisiert und relevante tiefenpsychologische sowie gesellschaftliche Dimensionen aufeinander bezieht. Dabei werden Gendertheorie und Gesellschaftstheorie innovativ vermittelt. Dieser neue Ansatz in der deutschsprachigen Männerforschung regt zu Anschlüssen an andere sozialwissenschaftliche Disziplinen an, die sich mit Men's Studies beschäftigen

    Die Digital Humanities bilden eine vergleichsweise junge Disziplin, die sich mit der Anwendung und kritischen Reflexion computergestützter Datenaufbereitung und -analyseverfahren in der geisteswissenschaftlichen Forschung beschäftigt.Die interdisziplinären Beiträge des Bandes lenken den Blick auf die Herausforderungen und Chancen der Digitalisierung in unterschiedlichen Fachdisziplinen in der deutsch- und französischsprachigen Forschungslandschaft sowie im Alltag. Dirk Braunstein wendet sich gegen die kulturindustrielle, wissenschaftspolitische und pseudointellektuelle Erledigung der Kritischen Theorie Adornos. Seine Untersuchungen zum Adorno'schen Begriff der Kritik, des Rechts, der Ökonomie, des Materialismus, der Zeitdiagnose und dem der Gesellschaft sowie zur Lehre des Philosophen und Soziologen beschäftigen sich auch mit der Frage, wie jene Lehre philologisch adäquat wiederzugeben ist Theodor W. Adorno (1903-1969) is considered to have been a significant thinker of his age - and his critical theory is considered to be the central part (not only) of the German history of science. Dirk Braunstein challenges the settlement of Adorno's critical theory from the perspectives of the cultural industries, science policies and the pseudo-intellectual viewpoint. His research into Adorno's understanding of criticism, law, economy, materialism, diagnosis of the times and society as well as the philosopher's and sociologist's teachings also deal with the question how these teachings could be adequately reflected from a philological viewpoint

Welche kognitiven Prozesse und sprachlichen Konstruktionen unterstützen uns darin, das Leben und uns selbst kohärent zu halten? Was bedeutet »Konditionalität«? Dr. Muchas kognitionslinguistische Studie entwickelt in interdisziplinärer Diskussion ein pragmasemantisches Modell der (interaktionalen) Diskurskonstruktionen, das Prozesse der Selektion, Extension und Resonanz an die jeweilige Perspektive des (Sprecher-)Selbst und instanziierte Schemata rückbindet. In diesem Design nimmt die Studie (schematische) konditionale/binäre und pronominale Konstruktionen in den Blick und verknüpft sie mit der Konzeption des Selbst. Die Korpusanalysen sind einerseits diachron angelegt (17. bis 21. Jahrhundert), andererseits textsorten- und genreübergreifend (Dramen, Briefe, Erzählungen), so dass Zeiträume in schematisch-diskursgrammatischer Perspektive durchschritten und Literatur und Realität miteinander vernetzt werden.
