    Practices of comparing shape how we perceive, organize, and change the world. Supposedly innocent, practices of comparing play a decisive role in forming categories, boundaries, and hierarchies; but they can also give an impetus to question and change such structures. Like almost no other human practice, comparing pervades all social, political, economic, and cultural spheres. This volume outlines the program of a new research agenda that places comparative practices at the center of an interdisciplinary exploration. Its contributions combine case studies with overarching systematic considerations. They show what insights can be gained and which further questions arise when one makes a seemingly trivial practice - comparing - the subject of in-depth research.     The book deals with the issue of the Holocaust in the Polish literature for children and adolescents. Drawing upon some of the leading Polish authors of the twentieth and the twentieth-first centuries, the author reveals the historical, ideological, and cultural entanglement of their works. The main focus of the book is to search for reasons behind the outpouring of interest in the Holocaust noticed in the most recent Polish literature for younger readers. Among these reasons, the author lists the Polish local and historical context, the new approach to issues traditionally seen as taboo, the development of memory and postmemory narratives, and the postmodern shift from a discursive totality and universalist explanations.

Aber welche Faktoren sind dann von Bedeutung und wie entsteht nachhaltige Lebensführung in der alltäglichen Praxis? This collection thus touches upon contemporary issues, recent protests and movements, artistic subversion and dissent, online activism as well as historic developments and elemental theories of dissent Biographical note: Elke Bippus is professor of theory and history of art at the Zurich University of the Arts, Switzerland. Her research interests include modern and contemporary art, image and representational theory, performance, performativity, art production and aesthetic processes, art as epistemic practice, politics and aesthetics. Anne Ganzert is postdoc research assistant for the project »Smartphone-Communities: Participation as Promise and Imposition« at the University of Konstanz, Germany. Her PhD thesis on »Serial Pinboarding in Contemporary Television« (2017) received the »City of Konstanz Prize to Promote Early Career Researchers 2019«. Her research interests are fan studies, theories of participation, transmedia storytelling, and visual culture studies. Isabell Otto is professor of media studies at the University of Konstanz. She coordinated the DFG network »Media of Collective Intelligence«. Der Begriff des Gegendokumentarischen markiert einen strategischen Einsatz, mit dem das Verständnis dokumentarischer Medien, Operationen, Institutionen, Poetiken, Ästhetiken, Schreib- und Darstellungsweisen geschärft und politisiert wird. Das Gegendokumentarische dient als Zugang, auch evidentielle Verfahren jenseits analoger Bildmedien zu beschreiben. Dabei rücken künstlerische, journalistische, juristische, politische und kulturelle Praktiken ins Blickfeld, die die Prozessualität des GegenDokumentarischen betonen Biographical note: Esra Canpalat (M.A.) hat an der an der Ruhr-Universität Bochum Allgemeine und Vergleichende Literaturwissenschaft sowie Kunstgeschichte studiert und ist Kollegiatin am DFG-Graduiertenkolleg »Das Dokumentarische«. Maren Haffke ist studierte Musik- und Medienwissenschaftlerin und Postdoktorandin am Graduiertenkolleg »Das Dokumentarische«. Sie hat sich mit einer Arbeit über »Die Frage der Tasteninstrumente. Musikalische Medien und der symbolische Mangel bei Friedrich Kittler und Wolfgang Scherer - Versuch einer Archäologie der Medienarchäologie« mit einem Stipendium der Mercator Forschergruppe »Spaces of Anthropological Knowledge« an der Ruhr-Universität Bochum promoviert. Sarah Horn (M.A.) ist Kollegiatin am DFG-Graduiertenkolleg »Das Dokumentarische« sowie Redaktionsmitglied des »onlinejournal kultur & geschlecht«. Die studierte Medienwissenschaftlerin war u.a. Stipendiatin der Mercator Research Group »Räume anthropologischen Wissens« an der Ruhr-Universität Bochum. Das Gegendokumentarische dient als Zugang, auch evidentielle Verfahren jenseits analoger Bildmedien zu beschreiben.
