    Abstract: In this article we propose a line of argument which emphasizes the correlation between the imagination of intercultural competence and subjective strategies of situating the self (i.e. selfsituating) in a particular context. The presented conclusions are based on an empirical study which employed methods of alternative perspectives. The study's theoretical backbone is supported by postcolonial theories in order to analyze the essential factors guiding the involved actors during situations with inde- \ terminate intercultural properties. We present the (empirical) process in which two employees of the German Development Service and one member of the German embassy were interviewed before and after their respective training seminars. The focus during the interviews was set on the participants' imagination of cultural competence in order to bring to the fore the emergent relationship of individual biographical experiences with strategies of self-situating. \ This studies' results high

    Kurzgeschichten zählen zu den im Literaturunterricht am häufigsten gelesenen Gattungen, und vor allem in der Sekundarstufe I finden sie sich in den curricularen Vorgaben wieder. Zugleich aber sind sie geprägt von einer Komplexität, die, auf dieser Annahme baut die vorliegende Arbeit auf, insbesondere aus der Perspektivgestaltung resultiert. Im Mittelpunkt der Arbeit steht in diesem Sinne nicht nur die Frage, welchen Einfluss Perspektivgestaltung und Perspektivverstehen in Kurzgeschichten auf das Textverstehen haben, sondern vor allem auch, wie Perspektivverstehen und damit einhergehend auch Textverstehen von Kurzgeschichten im Literaturunterricht gefördert werden können. Literaturwissenschaftliche und literaturdidaktische Überlegungen zusammenführend, werden dazu unter anderem ein gattungsspezifischer erzähltheoretischer Ansatz zur Analyse der Perspektivgestaltung in Kurzgeschichten, der Erzähler- und Figurenperspektiven in den Blick nimmt, sowie ein emotionale und kognitive Momente gleichermaßen umfassendes Modell der Entwicklung des Perspektivverstehens vorgestellt, an die sich genuin literaturdidaktische Überlegungen anschließen. Anwendung finden die gemachten Erkenntnisse und Ergebnisse schließlich in Analysen von didaktisch relevanten Kurzgeschichten und darauf aufbauenden exemplarischen didaktischen Anregungen

    The aim of this thesis is to explore how children's magic realist fiction contributes to critical Global Citizenship Education (GCE). This study argues that children's magic realist literature can facilitate young readers' knowledge and understanding of human rights issues and promote environmental awareness in a non-didactic manner by representing global issues from non-human perspectives. The thesis comprises four articles. The first study explores the non-human perspective of an animalhuman 'cyborg' protagonist in Peter Dickinson's novel Eva (1988). The study shows how the non-human perspective allows the reader to go beyond anthropocentric boundaries in order to explore the issue of treating the other. The second study investigates an animal perspective on the Roma genocide along with the mistreatment of animals in the Second World War in Sonya Hartnett's The Midnight Zoo (2010). The animal perspective shows human intolerance of other humans (the Roma) intertwined with human actions towards animals and encourages the reader in a non-didactic way to adopt an eco-philosophical standpoint. The third study is concerned with the representation of the Holocaust from the point of view of a supernatural narrator, Death, in Marcus Zusak's The Book Thief (2005). Death's inverted magic realist narrative facilitates the young reader's understanding of human rights issues and represents the history of the genocide in a non-didactic manner. The fourth study examines the relationships between humans and the natural environment shown from the non-human perspective of a tree. Taking the lens of holistic ecology, this study explores the representation of human - nature relationships in Patrick Ness's A Monster Calls (2011) and how the novel guides the child-reader towards an awareness of environmental issues

    Dieser Band dokumentiert die theoretischen, forschungspraktischen und empirischen Erfahrungen und Arbeitsergebnisse aus drei aufeinanderfolgenden Forschungsprojekten zur Diagnose und Förderung der Schreibkompetenz in der Sekundarstufe. Die interdisziplinären Verbundprojekte am Mercator-Institut der Universität zu Köln und dem Institut für Psychologie der Leibniz Universität Hannover waren in die Forschungsinitiative Sprachdiagnostik und Sprachförderung (FiSS) eingebunden. Der Fokus liegt dabei auf vier Aspekten: (1) theoretische Grundlagen der Schreibkompetenz und ihrer Komponenten, (2) mögliche Operationalisierungen dieser Konstrukte zu diagnostischen Zwecken, (3) didaktische Vermittlung schreibrelevanter Fähigkeiten und (4) Dokumentation der empirischen Forschungsergebnisse
