Revisando obras como "El Vampiro" de John William Polidori, pasando por los donvampiros cinematográficos más emblemáticos de Hollywood o por los del cine de terror español de los años 70 (el fantaterror), en este libro verás trazada una línea desde los orígenes del vampiro seductor hasta llegar a versiones recientes y al análisis del panorama actual del relato español."Don Vampiro" es una monografía que investiga la creación y desarrollo del arquetipo del vampiro seductor haciendo un recorrido por las obras literarias y cinematográficas que forjaron el personaje. Asimismo, explora la tradición del arquetipo en el cine y el relato español, haciendo hincapié en las representaciones más recientes y en la convergencia de elementos globales y españoles en las diversas iteraciones del mito. Además, el libro se centra en revelar cómo las representaciones del vampiro van amoldándose a los cambios socioculturales. Con los cambios sociales se necesitan nuevos monstrous para fascinar y poner a prueba los valores anteriores. It changed the way we perceive politics and goods, but also works of art and authors. This development has called into question the traditional idea of authenticity as well as the intention to resist capitalist marketing practices.This book examines the extent to which an author like Heiner Müller adopted branding strategies to present himself in the public sphere, investigating the impact that this had on his public persona. By focusing on Müller, this study analyzes the self-presentation and promotion of an adversarial author who drew on the ideals of the avant-garde and the artistic critique of capitalism. Yet Müller also inserted himself into the mainstream public sphere and the media, arenas that are highly influenced by the laws of the market.- Thus, the author asks whether Müller’s use of marketing methods and media environments undermined his outsider credibility and the integrity of his work, or, alternatively, how he may have been able to develop strategies to engage with marketing principles and the media in ways that allowed him to remain subversive nonetheless, perhaps working within the system and against it at the same time

And how has this emotion shaped aesthetic and ideological discourses and cultural productions?Violencia, poder y afectos: narrativas del miedo en Latinoamérica ofrece una contribución crítica al estudio de las representaciones de los miedos sociopolíticos en la literatura y el cine contemporáneos. Este volumen estudia las consecuencias inmediatas y de larga duración de la violencia y el terror en las sociedades latinoamericanas desde varias perspectivas teóricas. Los capítulos del libro abordan dos preguntas centrales: ¿cómo se han asumido, asimilado y representado los diversos temores sociopolíticos que caracterizan a unas sociedades marcadas por el conflicto, la represión y el abuso de poder? y ¿cómo este afecto ha marcado los discursos estéticos e ideológicos de las producciones culturales? Mediante el estudio de las obras de escritores y productores culturales contemporáneos incluso Mónica Ojeda, Cristina Rivera Garza, Rodrigo Rey Rosa, Alonso Cueto y Manlio Argueta, los colaboradores de este libro examinan el clima de terror y ansiedad provocados por las guerras civiles en Guatemala, El Salvador y Perú; la guerra de las drogas en México; la invasión estadounidense a Panamá en 1989; así como las dinámicas de desigualdad de clase y género en Ecuador y México.Violencia, poder y afectos: narrativas del miedo en Latinoamérica offers a critical contribution to studies of the representation of socio-politically inflicted fears in contemporary literature and film. These essays utilize an interdisciplinary methodology, drawing on Barthes’s own intermedial critical practice, to examine the multiple relationships between art, literature, music and performance and across different languages. The collection places Barthes’s writing in critical dialogue with other theorists, including Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari, Dick Higgins and Emmanuel Levinas, investigating the work of figures as varied as André Breton, Giordano Bruno, Alain Cavalier, Alfred Hitchcock, Marcel Schwob, W. G. Sebald, Steven Spielberg, Yoko Tawada and Lev Tolstoy.
