Jones and Davis are fighting. There's a skeleton in the well. There's more to being Welsh than having the accent, isn't there? Written for a single performer, Tara Robinson and Steffan Donnelly's My Body Welsh is a lyrical thriller which guides the audience through Llanfair-pwllgwyngyll-gogery-chwyrn-drobwll-llan-tysilio-gogo-goch and into a world of slippery small-town myth-making. My Body Welsh is a vibrant, part-bilingual piece of contemporary theatre that investigates the role storytelling plays in constructing national identity.--Supplied by publisher.

"Now you can question the life I live and the choices I've made, but when I step onto that dancefloor I know, without a doubt, that is exactly where I'm supposed to be. The world and his wife don't mean a thing, all that matters is where I am and the people I'm with. Dave used to be a DJ. And not just any DJ; he spent his 20s filling fields and dropping beats for thousands of young revelers flocking to the 90s rave scene. All good things must come to an end so now, in his 40s, he finds himself working in an advertising firm selling things he hates. But old habits die hard and soon Dave is leading a group of young millennials, disenchanted with the lot of Generation Y, back into the fray. Happy Dave was first performed in preview at the New Diorama, London, ahead of its month-long stint at the Pleasance, Edinburgh, for the 2016 Festival Fringe."--

"A compelling story of two families - one Palestinian, one Israeli - forced by history into an intimacy they didn't choose. In 1948, Palestinian couple Said and Safiyya fled their home during the Nakba. Now, in the aftermath of the 1967 Six Day War, the borders are open for the first time in twenty years, and they dare to return to their home in Haifa. They are ready to find someone else living where they once did, but nothing can prepare them for the encounter they both desire and dread with the son they had to leave behind. Ghassan Kanafani's classic novella Returning to Haifa has been adapted for the stage by Naomi Wallace and Ismail Khalidi. The play premiered at the Finborough Theatre, London, in February 2018."--

"Stephen Jeffreys's play Finsbury Park is a short autobiographical monologue. It was first performed by Stephen Jeffreys as part of Paines Plough's Come to Where I'm From at Park Theatre, London, on 6 July 2016. The play is closely autobiographical, a series of anecdotes and recollections of Finsbury Park and Crouch End, of growing up there as a boy in the 1950s, of Arsenal games, buses, London fog and the kindness of strangers. In her Introduction to the collection Stephen Jeffreys: Plays (Nick Hern Books, 2018), Jeffreys' wife Annabel Arden writes: 'The house Stephen grew up in, 45 Weston Park, had been acquired by his paternal grandfather in 1936, and three generations as well as many lodgers lived there in a very particular post-war austerity. It was a childhood full of eccentric characters, English humour and stoicism. His monologue Finsbury Park... captures the essence of this.'"--

"A drama about three generations of women in a Scottish family reminiscing about the past and musing about life as they shelter from the rain . The women are travelling to Iona in pursuit of a miracle to cure Petal, the youngest, who has a fatal shadow on her bladder, the more acute consequence of which is part of their reason for stopping at a guest house, where they meet three men of similar ages. The story is told three times, with various changes and differences in perspective, but of course there is little in the way of action. Instead, the six combine awkward pleasantries and mundane practical chatter about the fish man with reflections on their dead relatives."."--

"Set over one evening, Rathmines Road by Deirdre Kinahan is a play that rages in a tiny room. Fraught, funny and ferocious, it testifies to the pain of carrying the memory of sexual assault throughout a lifetime. A play about secret trauma and public revelation, Rathmines Road bristles with tension and interrogates catharsis to ask: when and how do we take responsibility? The play premiered at the Abbey Theatre as part of the Dublin Theatre Festival 2018, previewing at the Civic Theatre, Tallaght, in a co-production between Fishamble and the Abbey Theatre."--
