    An argument for retaining the notion of personal property in the products we “buy” in the digital marketplace. If you buy a book at the bookstore, you own it. You can take it home, scribble in the margins, put in on the shelf, lend it to a friend, sell it at a garage sale. But is the same thing true for the ebooks or other digital goods you buy? Retailers and copyright holders argue that you don't own those purchases, you merely license them. That means your ebook vendor can delete the book from your device without warning or explanation—as Amazon deleted Orwell's 1984 from the Kindles of surprised readers several years ago. These readers thought they owned their copies of 1984. Until, it turned out, they didn't. In The End of Ownership, Aaron Perzanowski and Jason Schultz explore how notions of ownership have shifted in the digital marketplace, and make an argument for the benefits of personal property. Of course, ebooks, cloud storage, streaming, and other digital goods offer users convenience and flexibility. But, Perzanowski and Schultz warn, consumers should be aware of the tradeoffs involving user constraints, permanence, and privacy. The rights of private property are clear, but few people manage to read their end user agreements. Perzanowski and Schultz argue that introducing aspects of private property and ownership into the digital marketplace would offer both legal and economic benefits. But, most important, it would affirm our sense of self-direction and autonomy. If we own our purchases, we are free to make whatever lawful use of them we please. Technology need not constrain our freedom; it can also empower us.

    This collective monograph has been prepared based on the results of scientific research conducted in 2020-2022. These studies were carried out as part of the scientific activities of the Public Security Academy of MRU. Members of the collective monograph participate in the activities of the MRU Laboratory of Harmonious Innovations. The results of these studies show that digital technologies are a priority not only locally, but also internationally. Digital technologies are taking over the world, and advantage is secured by the ability to quickly master them. There is no doubt that digital transformation will have a significant impact on almost any industry, including agriculture. This monograph was prepared in English, but a large, international team of authors participated in its preparation. The monograph consists of seven chapters, analyzing digitalization management solutions, innovative marketing, digital transformations, and digitalization as a factor of economic security in the face of global challenges. It also touches on and analyzes the issues of digitalization and society, along with the digitalization tools that are used in the public sector. The purpose of this monograph is to reveal the use of digital technologies in the modern economy. The sections of the monograph are formed in accordance with the tasks set. For the disclosure of each task, a scientific analysis of the literature is carried out and specific episodes of analysis are provided. Each issue is accompanied by a bibliography. The authors present the concepts of the phenomena under consideration and analyze them. The main research methods are the analysis of scientific literature sources, synthesis, induction, deduction, abstraction, analogy, and modeling. When conducting empirical studies, the organizational elements of a sociological study were used, questionnaire methods were employed, and the analysis of the results obtained was carried out using qualitative analysis and statistical methods. In the monograph, the authors review many classic works, present a detailed analysis of the problem, and reveal the essence of the digitalization of economic processes

    This note explores the interactions between new technologies with key areas of commercial law and potential legal changes to respond to new developments in technology and businesses. Inspired by the Bali Fintech Agenda, this note argues that country authorities need to closely examine the adequacy of their legal frameworks to accommodate the use of new technologies and implement necessary legal reform so as to reap the benefits of fintech while mitigating risks. Given the cross-border nature of new technologies, international cooperation among all relevant stakeholders is critical. The note is structured as follows: Section II describes the relations between technology, business, and law, Section III discusses the nature and functions of commercial law; Section IV provides a brief overview of developments in fintech; Section V examines the interaction between technology and commercial law; and Section VI concludes with a preliminary agenda for legal reform to accommodate the use of new technologies

    The connection of devices, as enabled by the Internet of Things (IoT), has a significant impact on business activities, processes, and performance. IoT is, therefore, gaining attention from practitioners and academia. The deployment of technological innovations is inseparable from changes in business activities, and therefore also affects business models (BMs) of both large corporations as well as small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Both face challenges on transformations to their business models due to the use of IoT solutions, although these changes might be different for both. Extant literature on IoT-based business models mainly focuses on transformations in large companies. Since SMEs play an important role in the market's value creation, it is particularly important to understand SMEs business model transformations, caused by IoT. Research on this topic is limited and faces many theoretical and methodological challenges. Therefore, this paper proposes a mixed method approach to study SMEs readiness to transform business models as a result of implementing IoT solutions. Based on a systematic literature review, and a pilot study (by using a case of one SME in Lithuania), we developed a mixed method research design in which input-output relation between case studies for theory formulation as well as theory testing are proposed.

    IoT is a coin term recently used in ICT research and industrial community to express the involvement of devices of different capabilities and functionalities in the daily activities of people and organizations. With the enormous amount of data generated by highly dynamic users, the problem of storing, looking up, validating and manipulating data becomes crucial for the success of future networks. A multidimensional chord peer-peer network as extension to the successful chord technology is proposed to cope with the dynamism of IoT networks. Novel approaches have been developed to tackle the high frequency of nodes joining and leaving/failure the network and to deal with Big data, similarity of data, filtering and Geo data.
