    Die Idylle ist allgegenwärtig: Unabhängig von der literarischen Gattung finden sich ihre Elemente sowohl in unterschiedlichen textuellen Formationen als auch in anderen kulturellen Artefakten sowie der Alltagskultur. Aktuelle Phänomene wie z.B. das Wiedererstarken von Nationalismen, die Sehnsucht nach dem »einfachen Leben« oder das Verhältnis von Mensch und Umwelt sind in spezifischer Weise mit idyllischen Motiven, Topoi oder Deutungsmustern verbunden. Die Aufsätze dieses Bandes werfen einen kulturwissenschaftlichen Blick auf die vier paradigmatischen Bereiche Ökologie, Ökonomie, Artikulation und Gemeinschaft. Sie untersuchen, wie idyllisierende Verfahren in unterschiedlichen historischen Kontexten zum Einsatz kommen, um Ordnungen, Naturverhältnisse und Diskurse zu strukturieren. Dabei entwickeln sie kulturwissenschaftliche Perspektiven auf aktuelle Debatten, die die zentrale Rolle der Idylle als Wunsch- und Gegenbild kritisch in den Blick nehmen

    This study analyzes how the imagination of the epic genre as legitimately legitimating community also unleashes an ambivalence between telling coherent - and hence legitimating - stories of political community and narrating open-ended stories of contingency that might de-legitimate political power. Manifest in eighteenth-century poetics above all in the disjunction between programmatic definitions of the epic and actual experiments with the genre, this ambivalence can also arise within a single epic over the course of its narrative. The present study thus traces how particular eighteenth-century epics explore an originary incompleteness of political power and its narrative legitimations. The first chapter sketches an overview of how eighteenth-century writers construct an imaginary epic genre that is assigned the task of performing the cultural work of legitimating political communities by narrating their allegedly unifying origins and borders. The subsequent chapters, however, explore how the practice of epic storytelling in works by Klopstock, Goethe, Wieland, and, in an epilogue, Brentano enact the disruptive potential of poetic language and narrative to question the legitimations of imaginary political origins and unities

Drawing a multifaceted picture of Shakespeare's scenes of hospitality—with their numerous scenes of greeting, feeding, entertaining, and sheltering—the collection demonstrates how hospitality provides a compelling frame for the core ethical, political, theological, and ecological questions of Shakespeare's time and our own. By reading Shakespeare's plays in conjunction with contemporary theory as well as early modern texts and objects—including almanacs, recipe books, husbandry manuals, and religious tracts — this book reimagines Shakespeare's playworld as one charged with the risks of hosting (rape and seduction, war and betrayal, enchantment and disenchantment) and the limits of generosity (how much can or should one give the guest, with what attitude or comportment, and under what circumstances?).     When a fire department called "Ostwache" in the eastern part of Leipzig closed down, it left their old building behind vacant. Soon after a neighbourhood initiative sought to use the space to establish a community center for the surrounding neighbourhood. At the same time, the municipal government was planning a new school on the same lot. This thesis presents a solution for this conflict. By bringing together architectural, urban planning and pedagogical perspectives, while aiming for synergies. Following the model of Freinet pedagogy, a community school was planned with a new building at the site of the old fire station and the community center is to be located in the existing building of the old Ostwache. Through a common courtyard, shared work and sports facilities and a shared lunch, the school opens up to the city and its neighborhood to the school. This is how city works as school and a school works as city. "In der alten, leer gewordenen Feuerwache im Leipziger Osten soll ein Nachbarschaftszentrum entstehen. Gleichzeitig plant die Stadt auf dem frei gewordenen Grundstück eine Schule. Das vorliegende Werk stellt stellt einen Lösungs ansatz für diesen Nutzungskonflikt vor, in dem architektonisch, städtebaulich und pädagogisch Synergien geschaffen werden sollen. Nach dem Vorbild der Freinet-Pädagogik wurde eine Gemeinschaftsschule am Standort der alten Feuerwache in einem Neubau geplant, während das Nachbarschaftszentrum im Bestandsgebäude der alten Feuerwehr Platz findet. Durch einen gemeinsamen Hof, zusammen genutzte Werk- und Sportstätten sowie einen gemeinsamen Mittagstisch wird die Schule zur Stadt geöffnet und die Nachbarschaft zur Schule.

    Im Jahr 2000 gründeten drei junge Männer das Internetportal »Indernet« - einen deutschsprachigen Raum von »Indern der zweiten Generation« für »Inder der zweiten Generation«. Aufbauend auf Material, das sie über 17 Jahre gesammelt hat, legt Urmila Goel in ihrer Ethnografie drei Mosaike dieses virtuellen Raums. Sie beschreibt, wie die unterschiedlichen Teile des Portals (Artikel, Forum, Gästebuch, etc.) genutzt wurden und zeichnet die Entwicklungsschritte des Community-Portals von seiner Gründung bis zum Umzug ins Web 2.0 nach. Dabei analysiert sie rassismuskritisch, wie das »Indernet« zu einem Raum der natio-ethno-kulturellen (Mehrfach-)Zugehörigkeit wurde und welche Ausschlüsse damit einhergingen.
