    Dieser Band versammelt Beiträge des Soziologen Rudi Schmiede aus den letzten vier Jahrzehnten, die der theoretischen und empirischen Analyse des Wandels von Arbeit und Beschäftigung vor dem Hintergrund von Umbrüchen in der kapitalistischen Produktionsweise gewidmet sind. Besonderes Gewicht liegt dabei auf der Verortung in und dem vielfältigen Anschluss der Aufsätze an die theoretischen Traditionen von Marx, Max Weber sowie der Frankfurter Kritischen Theorie einschließlich Sohn-Rethels. Im Zentrum der theoretischen Bemühungen steht die Entwicklung von Theorie und Empirie der Informatisierung, die im Hinblick auf ihre ökonomischen, technischen und organisatorischen Dimensionen sowie ihre Verschränkung mit den Veränderungen von Arbeit und Beschäftigung untersucht wird. Der Bogen der Analysen erstreckt sich deshalb von theoretischen Diskussionen zentraler kritischer Konzepte und Begriffe bis hin zu konkreten Analysen gegenwärtiger Wissensarbeit und den Gefahren der Überforderung und Gesundheitsgefährdung. Schließlich erörtert der Autor Optionen der praktischen Gestaltung von Arbeit, Organisation und Technologien

    Synthetische Biologie wird als vielversprechende Zukunftstechnikwissenschaft angesehen. Sie zielt darauf ab, Ingenieursprinzipien in der Biologie zu verwirklichen. Mit der Vision von umfassender Planbarkeit und allgemeiner Konstruierbarkeit grenzt sie sich von der nur manipulierenden Gentechnik ab. Offen ist bisher, ob diese Vision realisiert werden kann. Ebenso unbestimmt sind derzeit mögliche Folgen für Gesellschaft, Mensch und Natur. Dieses frühe Stadium eröffnet aber Optionen, Einfluss auf ihre Entwicklung zu nehmen: um Chancen zu realisieren und Risiken zu minimieren.Dieses Buch stellt die prägenden Visionen, Modelle und Methoden, die sich unter dem Dach der Synthetischen Biologie gruppieren, im Überblick vor. So können die sich eröffnenden Möglichkeiten frühzeitig analysiert und kritisch bewertet werden. Die mit ihnen verbundenen Chancen und Risiken werden in vier Fallstudien untersucht, wobei auch wenig beachtete Bereiche in den Blick rücken wie etwa biomimetische Werkstoffe: Technik, die am Vorbild der Natur orientiert ist. Basierend auf einer gleichermaßen gesellschaftlich orientierten wie technikbezogenen Bewertung werden gefährdungsarme Entwicklungspfade sichtbar.

    Business expectations regarding the introduction of business information systems were investigated according to company size categories. The results clearly showed that according to the majority of the respondents the information supply for decision-makers improved. In contrast, business information systems as a means of improving competitiveness were only regarded by corporations, this aspect was only around the average in the other company size categories. The respondents evaluated to what extent the usage of business information system provided assistance for their economic analyses. The obtained results show that business information systems can be utilized well in controlling and reporting. There are differences in their judgement by size categories. Particularly corporations can take advantage of the support of business information systems mainly in the field of planning, plan-actual analysis and the exploration of cost reducing possibilities.

    The IT functions of the companies can be executed in different ways in-house solution, outsourcing, in sourcing,formation a spin-off company. Predominantly this function is provided within the company in Hungary. The larger a company is; it is more likely that a separate IT manager will be entrusted for the supervision of IT functions. Only a very small number of small-sized enterprises said that they paid special attention to formulating an IT strategy, while it was not considered important by microenterprises at all.

    In the era of unstoppable IT development, the use of various information systems is an essential requirement for all enterprises. In particular, micro-enterprises are in a difficult position since they need continuous development to remain competitive with the possible help of information systems. At the same time, these enterprises that employ only a few people cannot afford to implement expensive software applications. Analysing the use of information systems among microenterprises is very important as they typically form the majority of enterprises, having a significant influence on the economic situation of each country. The present paper is aimed at analysing the use of information systems by micro-enterprises in Germany, Hungary and Slovakia.
