    The publication sums up the first four editions of "ĄĘ". [Virtual] Festival of the Polish Language in Georgia, organized in 2020-2022 by the Polish Institute in Georgia, the Polish Embassy in Georgia and the Polonicum Centre of the University of Warsaw. The authors discuss the idea of the Festival and the character of subsequent editions, each of which had a watchword, a notion key to getting to know a sphere of the Polish culture. In the autumn of 2020 that word was hope, the spring of 2021 was a time of futurological considerations centred around the works of Stanisław Lem, in the autumn of 2021 the participants looked into the notion of home in the Polish language and culture, and the spring of 2022 was devoted to tastes and aesthetics and to the works of that year's patron, Bruno Schulz. The authors have shown how the experiences of a cultural institution familiar with local realities and an educational institution which in its daily activities deals with research and didactics can go hand in hand. The publication also features interactive links to all the video footage of the Festival's lectures and workshops. Bringing this material together not only serves to document the Festival but also renders it available to teachers, students, and everyone interested in learning Polish as a foreign language.

    Der Fachbereich Translations-, Sprach- und Kulturwissenschaft (FTSK) Germersheim der Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz feierte im Jahr 2022 sein 75-jähriges Bestehen. Dieses Jubiläum nahm der Germersheimer Arbeitsbereich Allgemeine und Angewandte Sprachwissenschaft sowie Translationstechnologie (ASTT) zum Anlass, im Rahmen einer Tagung 2022 einen Blick nicht auf die Vergangenheit, sondern die Zukunft des Übersetzerberufs zu werfen. Im Zentrum des Interesses standen dabei die Auswirkungen, die der Übersetzerberuf und die Übersetzerausbildung im Zuge des digitalen Wandels erfahren, der insbesondere in Gestalt der Maschinellen Übersetzung und der fortschreitenden Automatisierung von Übersetzungsprozessen die Branche zunehmend prägt. Welche Kompetenzen müssen Studierenden heute vermittelt werden, damit sie in der Berufswelt von morgen ihren Platz finden? Wie kann man sie mit einer positiven Haltung dem digitalen Wandel gegenüber ausstatten und ihnen somit eine aktive Rolle in diesem System ermöglichen? [Virtual] Festival of the Polish Language in Georgia, organized in 2020-2022 by the Polish Institute in Georgia, the Polish Embassy in Georgia and the Polonicum Centre of the University of Warsaw.     In this paper we briefly introduce keystroke logging as a research method in writing research, focusing more explicitly on the recently developed linguistic analysis technique. In a case study of two elderly people (healthy versus demented), we illustrate some aspects of this linguistic approach. This analysis aggregates event-based data from the character level to the word level, while taking into account all the revisions that occurred during the composing process. The linguistic process analysis complements the logged process information with results from a part-of-speech tagger, a lemmatiz.

    In this paper we briefly introduce keystroke logging as a research method in writing research, focusing more explicitly on the recently developed linguistic analysis technique. In a case study of two elderly people (healthy versus demented), we illustrate some aspects of this linguistic approach. This analysis aggregates event-based data from the character level to the word level, while taking into account all the revisions that occurred during the composing process. The linguistic process analysis complements the logged process information with results from a part-of-speech tagger, a lemmatizer, a chunker, a syllabifier, and also adds word frequencies. The enriched word level information – together with action time and pause time at the word level – opens up new perspectives in the analysis of process dynamics, once more establishing a closer link between process and product analysis. We thus test the complementary diagnostic accuracy for Alzheimer’s disease, mainly focusing on cognitive and linguistic aspects that characterize the process of written language production.

This book argues that translation regularly involves transmediation—the telling of a story across media and vice versa—and that transmediation is a specific form of translation. Beyond the classic examples, the book also takes the reader on a worldwide tour, and examines, among other things, the role of Soviet science fiction in North Korea, the ethical uses of Lego Star Wars in a Brazilian context, and the history of Latin translation in children’s literature. Bringing together scholars from more than a dozen countries and language backgrounds, these cross-disciplinary essays focus on regularly overlooked transmediation practices and terminology, such as book cover art, trans-sensory storytelling, écart, enfreakment, foreignizing domestication, and intra-cultural transformation.

Virtuelle Kooperationsprojekte werden immer häufiger zur Professionalisierung von zukünftigen Fremdsprachenlehrenden eingesetzt. Ramona Schneider untersucht diese komplexen Settings erstmalig in ihrer Vielschichtigkeit unter Zusammenführung einer inhaltlich-fachlichen, sprachlichen, virtuellen, sozialen, institutionellen, individuellen und autonomen Ebene. Hierzu entwickelt die Autorin ein mehrdimensionales Erhebungs- und Analyseverfahren. Anhand von Befragungs- und Interaktionsdaten zeigt sie die wechselseitige Einflussnahme zwischen den Studierenden, den Gruppen und der Lernumgebung auf und entwickelt ein Modell virtueller kooperativer Nicht-Partizipation. Worüber und wie unterhalten sich Theaterbesucher*innen in der Pause? – Diese Fragen bilden den Ausgangspunkt des vorliegenden Bandes. Der Fokus liegt dabei auf der – in Pausengesprächen elementaren aber unerforschten – kommunikativen Rekonstruktion. Die Autorin identifiziert anhand authentischer Pausengespräche innovative kommunikative Muster der Vergegenwärtigung (z.B. die reinszenierende Theaterrekonstruktion oder die theaterangeregte Rekonstruktion persönlicher Alltagserlebnisse). Ausgehend von diesen Mustern zeigt sie die gesellschaftliche Relevanz des Theaterpausengesprächs als Ort der kollektiven Wirklichkeits- und Identitätskonstruktion auf.

Der Fachbereich Translations-, Sprach- und Kulturwissenschaft (FTSK) Germersheim der Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz feierte im Jahr 2022 sein 75-jähriges Bestehen. Dieses Jubiläum nahm der Germersheimer Arbeitsbereich Allgemeine und Angewandte Sprachwissenschaft sowie Translationstechnologie (ASTT) zum Anlass, im Rahmen einer Tagung 2022 einen Blick nicht auf die Vergangenheit, sondern die Zukunft des Übersetzerberufs zu werfen. Im Zentrum des Interesses standen dabei die Auswirkungen, die der Übersetzerberuf und die Übersetzerausbildung im Zuge des digitalen Wandels erfahren, der insbesondere in Gestalt der Maschinellen Übersetzung und der fortschreitenden Automatisierung von Übersetzungsprozessen die Branche zunehmend prägt. Welche Kompetenzen müssen Studierenden heute vermittelt werden, damit sie in der Berufswelt von morgen ihren Platz finden? Wie kann man sie mit einer positiven Haltung dem digitalen Wandel gegenüber ausstatten und ihnen somit eine aktive Rolle in diesem System ermöglichen?     Digitale Spiele im Deutschunterricht – Eine Zielbestimmung -- Grundlegende Gedanken: Bildung und Medien -- Eine Frage der Kompetenzen: Deutschunterricht und Computerspiele? -- Aspekte einer Computerspielrezeptionsfähigkeit -- Computerspielanalyse für Forschung und Unterricht -- Systematisierung der Ergebnisse und Forschungsbedarf. Andreas Schöffmann stellt in dem vorliegenden Buch die Frage „Was haben Computerspiele im Deutschunterricht zu suchen?“ vom Kopf auf die Füße. Er zeigt, was das Fach Deutsch aus seiner spezifischen Perspektive beitragen kann, um Heranwachsenden Bildungsmomente beim Spielen am Computer zu ermöglichen. Die Analyse bietet damit in mehrfacher Hinsicht Perspektivwechsel an, um digitale Spiele als wertvolle Bildungsmedien wahrnehmbar zu machen, die sich positiv auf den Medienkompetenzerwerb sowie die Identitäts- und Werteentwicklung auswirken. Der Autor Andreas Schöffmann war als Assistenz des Lehrstuhls für Deutschdidaktik, als Mitarbeiter der Forschungsstelle Werteerziehung und Lehrerbildung und als Koordinator für digitale Lehre an der Fakultät für Pädagogik und Psychologie der LMU München tätig und leitet an der Universität München das Projekt Universitas Digitalis zur Qualitätssteigerung der Lehre. Seine Forschungsschwerpunkte liegen in den Bereichen digitale Bildungsmedien (v.a. Computerspiele) sowie digitales Lehren und Lernen (v.a. kollaboratives Schreiben).

In fünfzehn Einzelstudien werden gesellschaftliche Leitvorstellungen, Wahrnehmungsmuster und Kommunikationsformen erforscht, die seit dem 15. Jahrhundert durch Praktiken des Übersetzens etabliert werden und bis in die Gegenwart von prägender Bedeutung sind. Behandelt werden etwa jiddische und kymrische Bibelüber­setzungen, tamilische und zapotekische Missionstexte sowie französische und arabische Kartenmaterialien. This interdisciplinary open-access collection addresses the multifarious concepts and methods of translation as a central and ubiquitous cultural technique of the Early Modern period (1450–1800). It features fifteen studies on the guiding principles, perception patterns, and communication forms that have taken root in society since the fifteenth century through the practices of translation and are still of defining importance today. The research spectrum encompasses such diverse topics as Yiddish and Welsh translations of the Bible, Tamil and Zapotec mission texts, and French and Arabic cartographic material.

This volume is a response both to the increasing interest in multilingual phenomena and lexical issues in language learning. It is of interest to scholars and graduate students interested in bi- and multilingualism, second and multiple language acquisition, language processing and language learning, mental lexicon, applied linguistics, psycho- and neurolinguistics and language teaching. Recent research on third language acquisition and trilingualism has made clear that most multilingual studies actually deal with vocabulary learning or the lexicon. So far books on the mental lexicon have mainly been concerned with two languages in contact. This book is unique because it explores the multilingual lexicon by providing insights from research studies conducted in psycholinguistics, applied linguistics and neurolinguistics. It goes beyond the use of two languages and thus concentrates on a new and developing area in linguistic research. The different perspectives included in this volume provide a link to the mainstream work on the lexicon and vocabulary acquisition and will stimulate further debate in these areas and in the study of multilingualism.
