    Abstract: "Over the last few years, 'benchmarking' advanced to a key word in organisational development and change management. Originally, benchmarking was a tool in business studies summarising the process of comparing your own with a similar organisational unit (mostly the competitor) in order to improve the competitive position. Benchmarking must be distinguished from purely analytical methods of comparison: First, performance indicators must be developed which differ from traditional design. Secondly, an organisational unit must be found which can be classified as the 'best performer' concerning the chosen indicators. The comparison then aims at finding options for the improvement of your own organisational unit in different hierarchical levels with the objective to progress in the position of the 'best performer'. It is understandable to investigate whether or not benchmarking procedures are also applicable in non-profit and public organisational units. In this field, one of the princip

    Abstract: 'Giddens hat sich für die Verwendbarkeit der Strukturierungstheorie eingesetzt. Dabei stellte er die Strukturierungstheorie als einen Beitrag zur postempirischen Rekonstruktion der von Theorie und ihre Anwendung in den Sozialwissenschaften dar und, in logischer Folge, als eine Rechtfertigung einer Konzeption von empirischer Forschung, die sich von jenen in älteren traditionellen Theoriebildungen favorisierten unterscheidet. Giddens hat es dabei jedoch unterlassen, die Anwendung der Strukturierungstheorie an eigenen empirischen Untersuchungen aufzuzeigen oder stichhaltige Analysen innerhalb besonderer Forschungsgebiete explizit auf diese aufzubauen. Es ist allerdings nicht nötig, darauf zu warten, daß Giddens selbst seine Theorie an Beispielen veranschaulicht. Die Strukturierungstheorie hat es nämlich möglich gemacht, daß sozialwissenschaftliche Kollegen und Kolleginnen grundlegende disziplinäre Mängel und Spezialgebiete, die im Augenblick zu beobachten sind, benennen können.     Abstract: "In many intermediate goods markets buyers and sellers both have market power. Contracts are usually long-term and negotiated bilaterally, codifying many elements in addition to price. We model such bilateral oligopolies as a set of simultaneous Rubinstein-Stahl bargainings over contracts specifying price and quantity, between pairs of buyers and sellers. Equilibrium quantities are efficient regardless of concentration. The law of one price does not hold. Prices depend on concentration of capital and concentration of sales. If the quantity sold represents a small share of both the firms' sales and purchases, the price is close to the Walrasian price." (author's abstract)

    Abstract: Interdisciplinary faculty collaboration is an effective technique for preparing college students for the demands of working in contemporary organizations. Higher education institutions should encourage and support faculty from different academic disciplines to educate students from interdisciplinary perspectives. When faculty from multiple academic disciplines collaborates, they are not only teaching students from new viewpoints, but they are also modeling the importance of communication, teamwork, diversity, and how to critically think from a holistic approach. This case study explored the synergy that exists between the academic disciplines of psychology and business. Twenty-five senior psychology students were introduced to a self-reflection assessment and an interactive discussion on motivation in the workplace from a business perspective. This was accomplished by illustrating the complementary motivational theories relating to Maslow’s Needs Hierarchy and Alderfer’s ERG Theory
