    Dieser Band hat nicht nur einen populären Sangspruchton und seine Überlieferung vom 14. bis zum 16. Jahrhundert zum Thema, sondern auch Theoretisches zur Edition von mittelalterlicher Lyrik sowie die kultur- und rezeptionsgeschichtliche Entwicklung eines Tones vom Sangspruch zum Meistergesang. Die Alment, ein dem Dichter Stolle zugeschriebener Sangspruchton, gibt einen Überblick über die thematische Bandbreite der Sangspruchdichtung und des Meistergesangs. Die Edition bietet allerdings kein Autorenœuvre, sondern ist dezidiert als Tonedition konzipiert. Die Frage nach der Authentizität der einzelnen Töne in Bezug auf die Textautorschaft wird nicht gestellt. Die Lieder der Ausgabe verbindet ihre einheitliche metrisch-musikalische Struktur, kurz: der Ton. Enthalten sind Texte mit ungeklärter Verfasserschaft neben solchen, die eventuell von Stolle selbst stammen, und Sangsprüche/Meisterlieder anderer Dichter. Dieses am Tonautor orientierte editorische Organisationsverfahren ermöglicht, Sangsprüche und Meisterlieder gemeinsam zu edieren. Es wird faßbar, wie die Meisterlieddichter tradierte Vorgaben auffassen, verändern oder variieren.
