    Im Frühjahr 1954 posierte André Malraux für einen Fotografen der Illustrierten Paris Match mit den ausgelegten Doppelseiten eines Kunstbildbandes. Dabei entstand eine Ikone der modernen Kulturgeschichte, die bis heute durch viele Bücher und Kataloge geistert. Im Rahmen einer Zimmerreise durch den mondänen Salon analysiert der Kunsthistoriker Walter Grasskamp Strategien der Selbstinszenierung dieses umstrittenen Autors und Politikers, um sich anschliessend dem Buch zuzuwenden, das auf dem Boden liegt, Le Musée imaginaire de la sculpture mondiale - ein imaginäres Museum der Weltkunst. Vorbilder, Entwicklungsgeschichte und Wirkung der faszinierenden Idee eines imaginären Museums stehen dann im Mittelpunkt des Buches, das auch ein vergessenes Vorbild Malraux vorstellen kann: Die fulminante Encyclopédie photographique de l'art, die der Fotograf André Vigneau zwischen 1935 und 1949 publiziert hatte. Mit dieser Wiederentdeckung wird der Vergleich verschiedener Modelle der frühen Kunstpublizistik möglich, unter denen der Münchner Anthologie "Der Blaue Reite" der Rang eines Pionierunternehmens zukommt: 1912 suggerierte sie zum ersten Mal typografisch die neue und kontroverse Idee einer Weltkunst, der auch Malraux anhing und deren Blütezeit hier rekapituliert wird

    Im Frühjahr 1954 posierte André Malraux für einen Fotografen der Illustrierten Paris Match mit den ausgelegten Doppelseiten eines Kunstbildbandes. Dabei entstand eine Ikone der modernen Kulturgeschichte, die bis heute durch viele Bücher und Kataloge geistert. Im Rahmen einer Zimmerreise durch den mondänen Salon analysiert der Kunsthistoriker Walter Grasskamp Strategien der Selbstinszenierung dieses umstrittenen Autors und Politikers, um sich anschliessend dem Buch zuzuwenden, das auf dem Boden liegt, Le Musée imaginaire de la sculpture mondiale - ein imaginäres Museum der Weltkunst. Vorbilder, Entwicklungsgeschichte und Wirkung der faszinierenden Idee eines imaginären Museums stehen dann im Mittelpunkt des Buches, das auch ein vergessenes Vorbild Malraux vorstellen kann: Die fulminante Encyclopédie photographique de l'art, die der Fotograf André Vigneau zwischen 1935 und 1949 publiziert hatte. Mit dieser Wiederentdeckung wird der Vergleich verschiedener Modelle der frühen Kunstpublizistik möglich, unter denen der Münchner Anthologie "Der Blaue Reite" der Rang eines Pionierunternehmens zukommt: 1912 suggerierte sie zum ersten Mal typografisch die neue und kontroverse Idee einer Weltkunst, der auch Malraux anhing und deren Blütezeit hier rekapituliert wird
