Goldis Edward North Professor of Classics at Hamilton College. She is the editor of Literary and Artistic Patronage in Ancient Rome(1982), author of Literary Patronage in Greece and Rome(1987), co-editor of Sex and Gender in Medieval and Renaissance Texts: The Latin Tradition(1997), co-editor of Roman Dining: A Special Issue of American Journal of Philology(2005), and author of Perpetua: A Martyr’s Tale(2012). She has published widely on satire, lyric and elegy, feminist theory and late antiquity.
