    The German newspaper in Romania Neuer Weg, whose first issue appeared on March 13, 1949, was addressed to the German-language readership and was at the same time a propaganda tool of the Romanian Communist Party. The overall aim of the whole press of that time was to support the social, political, economic and cultural changes that the first years of the so-called popular democratic construction brought. For this reason, the present work intends to analyse the features of the communist discourse in the press, examining the socialist use of language and highlighting the linguistic peculiarities. The author takes the standpoint of pragma linguistics in the study and evaluation of the linguistic data and starts from the concept of the so-called wooden language.

    The article intends to present some facts about the medieval history of the Saxons in the Wallachian town of Câmpulung Muscel/Langenau. German-speaking colonists were settled in Langenau around the 13th century, and their traces can be followed until the middle of the 18th century. A German language document from the 16th century will serve as an illustration, depicting the relations between the Transylvanian Saxons from Râșnov/Rosenau and the population of Câmpulung Muscel/Langenau. The linguistic peculiarities of the document are discussed, as well as the problems of its transcription, which led to different publication variants. This document is also interesting because it contains many Romanian names of persons.

    The article presents a chronicle of the town of Kaaden (Kadaň) dating from the 16th century, currently held in Prague's Monastery of Our Lady of the Snows. It explores several aspects of Humanistic urban history writing, including the presence of the author in the text of the chronicle, the methodology of the author's historiographic work, and his choice and use of language (German, Latin). The study also presents this chronicle as an interesting and important source of information on writing practices in north-west Bohemia from a text-analytical perspective.

    Im Jahr der deutschen Revolution 1848 schrieb der politische Journalist und Paulskirchenabgeordnete Arnold Ruge:

     

    Die freie Staatsform braucht freie Menschen und erst die freie Staatsform bringt mit Sicherheit freie Menschen hervor. Ja, so ist es, dieser Zirkel ist vorhanden.

     

    In diesem Zitat äußert Ruge ein von ihm wahrgenommenes Kernproblem der Situation während des Vormärz und der Revolution: Die Einführung der auf einem souveränen Volk basierenden demokratischen Staatsform, ohne dass das Volk zur politischen Selbstbestimmung in der Lage sei. Ruge verstand den politischen Systemwechsel als Aufgabe eines jeden Menschen, der das 'monarchische Prinzip' selbst überwinden müsse, um die Demokratie zu schaffen. Dazu bedürfe er jedoch der pädagogischen Unterstützung. Ebenso projektierte Ruge im Jahr 1849 einen sozialdemokratischen Staat der Zukunft, in dem die demokratische Erziehung der Jugend eine staatserhaltende Funktion hat. Ruge machte damit sowohl die Schaffung als auch die Erhaltung des projektierten demokratischen Staates zu Aufgaben des Individuums, die der pädagogischen Förderung bedürfen. Im vorliegenden Beitrag sollen beide politischen Funktionen des Pädagogischen dargestellt werden: die schaffende sowie die erhaltende Funktion.
