    A partir de dados sobre a frequência de ocorrência de pronomes reflexivos, retirados de textos de quatro livros didáticos de língua alemã (Blaue Blume, 2011; DaF kompakt neu A2, 2016; Menschen A2, 2013; Studio d A2, 2006), o presente artigo discute meios para a identificação de insumos didatizados e não didatizados. Essa proposta é justificada pelo interesse em desenvolver uma base empírica que auxilie a seleção de textos para um projeto de criação de um material didático destinado ao ensino de alemão em contexto universitário no Brasil. Para o tratamento dos textos utilizamos os programas WordSmith Tools (2016) e QuAX-DaF (2019). Tais ferramentas apresentam dados de frequência de ocorrência nos textos investigados, além de estabelecer uma relação com um corpus autêntico de língua alemã (Leipzig Corpora Collection). Os resultados indicam que a investigação da frequência de ocorrência pode estabelecer uma base quantitativa e qualitativa para a escolha textual de acordo com a progressão lexical e gramatical desejada, podendo ser um critério para a inclusão ou de exclusão de textos para o ensino de línguas. In this work we analyze the frequency of occurrence of reflexive pronouns extracted from texts of four textbooks of German as an additional language (Blaue Blume, 2011; DaF kompakt neu A2, 2016; Menschen A2, 2013; Studio d A2, 2006), aiming to discuss ways to identify didactic and non-didactic texts. This investigation is justified in the context of designing an empiric basis to help classify texts for a project whose main goal is to develop a didactic material designed to the Brazilian university context. For the proper treatment of the samples, a quantitative and qualitative analysis was performed with the help of the softwares Word SmithTools (2016) and QuAX-DaF (2019). These tools allow us to assess the frequency of occurrence of our target subject (reflexive pronouns), as well as the degree of authenticity of the samples based in a German corpus (Leipzig Corpora Collection). The results suggest that the knowledge of the frequency of occurrence can be helpful to assist teachers and researchers in choosing texts to be used in specific teaching contexts, regarding the lexical and grammatical progression.

    Universities are places where knowledge is produced. This knowledge makes sense as long as it is shared. In the global world, this knowledge sharing is expected to be intensive in universities. Foreign language is very important in this stage. The participation of academicians in this information network is related to the effective use of foreign language in oral and written form. The aim of the study is to measure the foreign language levels of academicians according to the demographic variables and to describe the purposes of foreign language use. 269 academicians at Trakya University contributed to the study in 2015. Foreign Language Levels of academicians were measured through The Common European Framework for Languages - Set of General Steps for Common Suggestion Levels - A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2. In order to describe the purpose of foreign language use of the academicians, by using a measuring tool which was developed beforehand, it was studied at 95% confidence level. In the study conducted with a descriptive approach, the data were calculated as percentages. At the end of the study, it was determined that the foreign language levels of the academicians were at most B1 (30,9%) and B2 (30,1%) levels. Among the purpose of academicians' foreign language use (academic, education and personal), differences were identified in the ability to acquire and produce a foreign language Üniversiteler bilginin üretildiği yerlerdir. Bu bilgiler paylaşıldıkça anlam kazanırlar. Küresel dünyada üniversitelerden beklenen, bu bilgi paylaşımının yoğun olmasıdır. Yabancı dil bilmek bu aşamada oldukça önemlidir. Akademisyenlerin bu bilgi ağına katılım etkinliği, yabancı dili sözlü ve yazılı etkin kullanabilmesine bağlıdır. Bu çalışmanın amacı, öğretim üyelerinin yabancı dil seviyelerinin demografik değişkenlere göre ölçülmesi ve yabancı dil kullanım amaçlarının betimlenmesidir. Çalışmaya 2015 yılında Trakya Üniversitesi'nde çalışan 269 öğretim üyesi katkı sağlamıştır. Öğretim üyelerinin yabancı dil seviyeleri 'Diller için Avrupa Ortak Öneriler Çerçevesi - Ortak Öneri Düzeyleri Genel Basamaklar Kümesi - A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 ve C2' aracılığı ile ölçülmüştür. Yabancı dil kullanım amaçları ise güvenilirlik oranı % 95 olan bir ölçme aracı ile ölçülmüştür. Betimsel bir yaklaşımla yürütülen çalışmada veriler yüzdelik olarak hesaplanmıştır. Verilerin analizi çalışmaya katılan öğretim üyelerinin yaklaşık üçte birinin B1 (%30,1) ve B2 (%30,1) seviyelerinde olduğunu göstermiştir. Ayrıca yabancı dili kullanma amaçları (akademik, eğitim-öğretim ve kişisel) arasında alımlamaya ve üretime yönelik becerilerde farklılıklar tespit edilmiştir.

    The present article concentrates on the activity of Hermine Pilder-Klein as theoretician and translation critic. (Hermine Pilder-Klein: translator from Romanian to German of the second half of the 20th century carried out 80 translations from this cultural space in the period 1933-1972. Horst Schuller makes reference to 2 articles that are kept in the archive of the Museum of Gundelsheim: 1. a review of the volume Siebenbürgisch Sächsisches Wörterbuch (Transylvanian Saxon Dictionary) published in Bucharest. The review was published in the No. 4/1972 of the periodical Vierteljahresblätter in München; 2. a critical presentation of the volume Rumänische Volksmärchen (Romanian Folk Tales) edited by Ovidiu Bârlea and Felix Karlinger (the volume was published in 1969 in Düsseldorf/Köln: Eugen Diederichs Verlag), the work bearing the title Übersetzung-Schlüssel und Brücke (Translation – Key and Bridge) (1977), remained unpublished and was taken over by Horst Schuller in the present article.

    This thesis investigates how students with Cantonese (L1) and English (L2) backgrounds acquire German as a third language (L3), with a focus on the acquisition of the Vorfeld (fronting) constructions of German. In L3 studies, the roles played by mother tongue, L2 and developmental grammar may be distinguished. Previous L3 studies have suggested that the role of L2 seems to be prominent in L3 strategy building, including interlanguage transfer from L2 to L3. Pursuing a cognitive approach, we argue that incremental production and language processing strategies are significant factors in accounting for third language acquisition and production.

    A total of 45 university students of German completed a questionnaire and submitted copies of their compositions, followed by picture elicitation tasks. Three typical fronting types were found to be common amongst the learners:

    1. Für mich, jede Familie hat eigene Situation und Probleme.

    2. Obwohl gibt es viele Probleme mit alten Leuten zusammen lebt, finde ich gut dafür.

    3. Jetzt die meisterns haben schon nach Hong Kong zurückgekommen.

    Type 1 is argued to reflect indirect transfer of native language function-form characteristics. Type two is argued to be an intralingual error in which the learners have overgeneralized the verb second (V2) rule, without acquiring the correct function of the Vorfeld construction. The third type shows that apart from the influence of English in adverb fronting constructions, adverbs of stance or perspective adverbs like ‘jetzt’ semantically do not form part of the proposition and they are therefore treated as “extra-sentential” constituents which do not affect the basic V2 construction.

    The findings suggest that learners may have primarily acquired the topic function of German fronting, while failing to fully acquire the focus function. For the focus function, learners seem to prefer alternative constructions such as existential sentences using ‘es gibt’. Both of these findings implicate L1 Chinese influence.

    As an overall perspective on the incipient field of third language acquisition research I propose a holistic and coherent view which encompasses syntax, semantics and pragmatics at all levels of language development. By probing an independent paradigm of L3 studies, we aim to contribute to a new dynamic research space as well to ongoing debates in the SLA field by attributing greater autonomy and consciousness to the learner, even on the level of grammatical interaction.

    This study examines articulatory and acoustic inter-speaker variability in the production of the German vowels /i/, /u/ and /a/. Our subjects are 3 monozygotic twin pairs (2 female and 1 male pair) and 2 dizygotic female twin pairs. All of them were born, raised and are still living in Berlin and see their twin brother or sister regularly. We assume that monozygotic twins that are genetically identical and share the same physiology should be more similar in their articulation than dizygotic twins but that the shared time and social environment of twins, regardless of their genetic similarity, also plays a crucial role in the acoustic similarity of twins. Articulatory measurements were made with EMA (Electromagnetic Articulography) and the target positions of the produced vowels were analyzed. Additionally, the formants F1-F4 of each vowel were measured and compared within the twin pairs. Our data seems to point out the importance of a shared environment and the strong influence of learning over the anatomical identity of the monozygotic twins regarding the production of vowels. But, additional results suggest (1) the impact of physiology on the production of a vowel following a velar consonant and (2) the interaction of physiology and stress in inter-speaker variability.

    Trotz der erheblichen Vorteile von digitalen Plattformen für Sprachlernende sind frei zugängliche Online-Tools im Bereich der Phraseologie, abgesehen von einigen Ausnahmen, noch Mangelware. Sie sind nicht an Platzbeschränkungen gebunden, leicht auf den aktuellen Stand zu bringen und fördern das autonome Lernen. Die in diesem Beitrag vorgestellte Online-Phraseologie-Lernplattform ReDeWe, die im Rahmen einer Lehrwerksuntersuchung entstanden ist, deckt drei Bereiche ab: (1) eine im Aufbau befindliche Phrasemdatenbank mit relevanten Informationen wie semantisches Feld, Register und Grundwortschatzniveau, (2) eine Multisuchmaschine, die die wichtigsten Online-Wörterbücher bzw. Korpora integriert, und (3) eine Lernplattform mit interaktiven Übungen. Despite the considerable advantages of digital platforms for language learners, freely accessible online tools in the field of phraseology are still scarce, with some exceptions. They are not bound by space limitations, are easy to update, and promote autonomous learning. The online phraseology learning platform ReDeWe presented in this paper, which was created as part of a textbook investigation, covers three areas: (1) a phrase database under construction with relevant information such as semantic field, register, and basic vocabulary level, (2) a multisearch engine integrating the main online dictionaries or corpora, and (3) a learning platform with interactive exercises.

    The present paper deals with the use of the term "genealogy" in theory. Markus Winkler first tries to highlight the hidden metaphorical status of this use and the ambiguity that it conveys. In doing so, Winkler tries to outline how this metaphoricity and its inherent ambiguity may be brought to fruition in the philological analysis of texts and in theory itself. The paper is subdivided as follows: 1. The use of the term "genealogy" in theory and the interest of this use to philology. 2. A philological comment on the metaphorical status of this use and its inherent ambiguity inherited from mythical genealogy as a form of founding narrative. 3.     Článek ukazuje příklad užití určitých klíčových metod a konceptů při analýze dialogů v literárním textu. Pro analýzu byl vybrán krátký, ale dramatický dialog mezi manželským párem v povídce Christopha Heina (1989) "Die Vergewaltigung". Navrhujeme, aby analýza zahrnovala pět kroků: 1. procedurální organizace dialogu (střídání mluvčích atd.), 2. témata a způsob, jak jsou nová témata zaváděna, 3. řečové akty (ne pouze ilokuce), 4. vytváření sociální identity a sociálních vztahů mezi účastníky, 5. interaktivní modalita. Na závěr je poukázáno na rozdíly mezi dialogy v literárních textech a jejich ekvivalenty v reálném životě. In this article, we provide a worked example showing certain key methods and concepts involved in the analysis of dialogues in literary texts. As the text for analysis we have chosen a short but dramatic interaction between a couple in the short story "Die Vergewaltigung" by Christoph Hein (1989). We propose five levels of analysis: 1. Procedural organization of dialogues (turn taking etc.), 2. topics and the wals in which new topics are introduced, 3. verbal acts (not only illocutions), 4. the construction of social identity and social relationships among the participants, 5. interactive modality. Finally, we discuss differences between dialogues in literary texts and their real life 'equivalents'.

    Neste artigo, trazemos algumas reflexões a respeito da influência exercida por línguas anteriormente aprendidas no processo de aprendizagem de alemão como L3 por aprendizes brasileiros. Essas influências podem operar tanto por meio de transferências linguísticas intencionais, controladas pelos próprios aprendizes, quanto por transferências não intencionais. Dependendo do referencial teórico adotado, essas transferências intencionais são consideradas estratégias de aprendizagem e/ou de comunicação. Com base em uma pesquisa empírica realizada em 2017 e em alguns debates na área acadêmica em torno do assunto (OXFORD 1990, 2011; BIMMEL e RAMPILLON 2000; SELINKER 1972, 2014; HUFEISEN 2010), este artigo tem como objetivo analisar as estratégias utilizadas por aprendizes de alemão como L3 em um chat online e refletir sobre as influências interlinguais exercidas sobre os aprendizes de forma não intencional. Os resultados obtidos apontam para contrastes (1) quanto ao tipo de estratégias utilizadas por aprendizes em diferentes níveis de aprendizagem e (2) quanto à língua da qual decorreram as influências não intencionais: aprendizes mais proficientes utilizaram estratégias que mobilizaram mais elementos da língua-alvo, como os circunlóquios, e não sofreram nenhuma influência exclusivamente da língua materna (apenas da L1 e da L2 concomitantemente ou apenas da L2), ao contrário de aprendizes menos proficientes. In this article, we ponder on the influences of previously learned languages on the process of learning German as a third language by Brazilian students. This influence can take place through intentional and self-controlled or unintentional linguistic transfers. When intentional, they are considered learning strategies and/or communication strategies, depending on the theoretical framework. Based on an empirical research conducted in 2017 and debates in the academic area around this subject (OXFORD 1990, 2011; BIMMEL e RAMPILLON 2000; SELINKER 1972, 2014; HUFEISEN 2010), this article intends to analyze the strategies used by Brazilian students of German as a third language in an online chat, and also talk about the uncontrolled interlingual influences. The results obtained point to contrasts (1) between the types of strategies used by learners at different levels of learning and (2) between the languages that exerted more influences on them: more proficient learners used strategies that mobilized more elements of the target language (for example, circumlocutions), and were not influenced exclusively by their native language (only by L1 and L2 concomitantly or only by L2), as opposed to less proficient learners.

    The present study aims to investigate how foreign language learners at the German for Academic Purposes (GAP) program at a Brazilian federal university interact in their mother tongue about their motivations to learn a foreign language as well as their motivations to participate in study abroad programs. Data were collected using focus group methodology with three focus groups of six students each (A1, A2 and B1 levels). We chose to analyze the A1 group. We conducted metaphor-led discourse analysis of the data in order to examine metaphors and metonymies, which emerged in the focus group interactions. We were able to identify the presence of systematic metaphors such as learning is hard work and learning is jumping hurdles, intertwined with conceptual metaphors such as education is a journey and difficulties are weights, which point at the motivation for learning verbalized by Brazilian foreign language learners who took part in the study. Este estudo tem como objetivo investigar como aprendizes de língua estrangeira no programa de Alemão para Fins Acadêmicos (AFA) em uma universidade federal brasileira interagem em sua língua materna sobre suas motivações para aprender uma língua estrangeira, bem como sua motivação para participar de programas de intercâmbio. Os dados foram coletados usando a metodologia de grupo focal com três grupos de seis estudantes cada (níveis A1, A2 e B1). Analisamos o grupo de A1. Conduzimos uma análise do discurso à luz da metáfora nos dados para examinar as metáforas e metonímias que surgiram nas interações dos grupos focais. Pudemos identificar a presença de metáforas sistemáticas como aprendizagem é trabalho duro e aprendizagem é pular barreiras, imbricadas com metáforas conceptuais como educação é uma viagem e dificuldades são peso, que apontam para a motivação de aprendizagem verbalizada pelos participantes desse estudo.

    Ob zum Austausch von zwischenmenschlichen Bedürfnissen, wie dem Gedankengut oder zu Geschäftszwecken, wie am Beispiel der Lingua Franca, galt Sprache seit jeher als das Kommunikationsmittel der menschlichen Spezies. Durch den wachsenden Bedarf an Mehrsprachigkeit im 20. Jahrhundert, rückte die Spracherwerbsforschung zunehmend ins Forschungszentrum. Die Erforschung von Deutsch als Zweitsprache (L2) anhand verschiedenster Muttersprachen (L1s) findet ihre Anfänge Mitte der 1980er Jahre (vgl. MEISEL 1975). Bereits zu Beginn des 19. Jahrhunderts erkannten Forscher, wie SCHLEGEL (1818), die Wichtigkeit, Sprachen nach morphotypologischen Klassifikationen zu schematisieren, um geneologische Zusammenhänge zwischen Sprachen im Kontext analysieren zu können. Die Frage, wie und ob sprachliche Transferprozesse auf eine sprachtypologische (Nicht)-Verwandtschaft zwischen L1 und L2 zurückzuführen sind, ist Gegenstand dieser Studie. Die untersuchten L1s sind Spanisch (flektierend), Vietnamesisch (isolierend), Türkisch (agglutinierend) sowie Deutsch (flektierend) als L2. Praktisch werden Daten zu zwei Grammatikalitäten analysiert: die Subjekt-Verb-Kongruenz sowie die Realisierung der grammatischen Artikel im Deutschen. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass in beiden Bereichen eine enge Verbindung zwischen strukturellen Ähnlichkeiten sowie Differenzen für den Transfer zwischen L1 und L2 ausschlaggebend sein kann, da die spanischsprachigen TeilnehmerInnen die geringsten Interferenzquoten, die vietnamesischsprachigen TeilnehmerInnen hingegen die höchsten Fehlerquoten aufzeigen. Whether for exchanging interpersonal needs - such as thoughts - or for business purposes - as in the case of the Lingua franca - in its specific form language has always been presumed to be the human species' means for communication. With the concurrent rise in demand for multilingualism in the 20th century, studies examining language acquisition have garnered ever-greater interest. Research into German as a second language (L2) with different mother tongues (L1) began in the 1980's (see MEISEL 1975). In the beginning of the 19th century, the importance of morphotypological differences between languages was first examined (SCHLEGEL 1818). This study investigates the correlation of similarity or non-similarity in linguistic systems (L1: Turkish, Spanish, Vietnamese, and L2: German) with respect to language transfer processes as inter-comprehension and interference errors. The ability of foreign speakers of German to maintain subject and predicate congruence, as well as to formulate grammatical articles, is examined. The results show that for both areas, there exists a correlation between structural similarity and differences which influences transfer processes between L1 and L2. The study shows that native speakers of Spanish demonstrate fewer interference errors than native speakers of Vietnamese, which have the highest number of interference errors.

    This article offers a short overview about the teaching of German in Brazil. Following the concepts and dimensions of bilingualism and bilinguality, it identifies the teaching of German as a second language and deals with the aspect of the intercultural learning in two bilingual schools in Rio de Janeiro, where the German language is defined as language and culture 2. This paper proposes a reflection on the issue of interculturalism within the theme that surrounds Easter eggs as an illustrative example of the way a holiday is celebrated in bilingual school contexts. This study is based on a sociocultural perspective of language, focusing on the relationship between language, identity and social structure. O presente artigo oferece um breve panorama acerca do ensino da língua alemã no Brasil. Seguindo os conceitos e dimensões de bilinguismo e bilingualidade , identifica o ensino de língua alemã como segunda língua e trata do aspecto da interculturalidade restrito à análise da prática em duas escolas bilíngues do Rio de Janeiro, onde a língua/cultura alemã é a segunda língua.(L2) Propõese uma reflexão sobre a questão da interculturalidade no âmbito da comemoração de datas festivas em escolas bilíngues. Dentro dessa temática e no contexto escolar bilíngue, delimitamos o estudo a eventos comemorativos como a Páscoa, marcados pela distribuição de ovinhos de Páscoa/Ostereier. O estudo baseia-se em uma perspectiva sociocultural da linguagem e ressalta as relações entre língua, identidade e estrutura social.

    This article discusses one of many possible strategies that translators use in rendering an idiom from a L1 to a L2, i.e. the verbatim or the literal translation. The points of view according to this strategy differ very much among the researchers: some treat them as semantic false friends. Based on the replies to a questionnaire that was handed out to 10 Romanian native speakers, one could state that the context in which the literal translation of a source-idiom is situated plays an important role for the understanding of the text. Beyond that, the translation of an idiom cannot be judged only by virtue of the denotative meaning – the pragmatic function of the translation as a whole is just as important. The questionnaire was compiled of literal translations of Swedish idioms into Romanian (from different translations of different novels). The article further discusses some of the text examples from this questionnaire and describes some of the phenomena related to idioms which hinder the so-called idiom-understanding and which probably led to misinterpretation and a failed literal translation.

    ‘Religious identity’ will be regarded as the homogeneous whole of religious attitudes and religions and ethical actions which are rooted in the mentality of a person/a community: (1) this identity may exist in different stages of awareness; (2) the tension between the mentality of a person and of a community may be strong or nearly non-existent; and (3) religious attitudes and ethical actions may be closely tied or only loosely connected. (...) The awareness of religious identity is marked in the ‘Rolandslied’ by affirmation, in the ‘Willehalm’ by problematisation. (...).

    A tension between subjective and collective mentality is non-existent in the ‘Rolandslied’, whereas in the ‘Willehalm’ it is relatively strong without breaking up the integration of the subject into the nobility. (...) Religious attitudes and political actions (...) strongly diverge in both works on an objective level; however, this is not the case for the ‘Rolandslied’ on a subjective level. The ‘Willehalm’ testifies to a process of a subjectivisation and individualisation which can be termed typical for the twelfth century and which is to be found in various cultural areas.

    The aim of the present paper is to show how, and to what extent, the standards of critical genetic editions as applied to Goethe's Faust can be attained within a TEI framework. It proposes and argues for the introduction of two separate transcripts: documentary and textual. Despite the apparent disadvantages of multiple encoding, this approach recommends itself for practical reasons (e.g., avoidance of overlapping hierarchies), and it conveniently reflects the idea that any written document must be considered a material object on the one hand and a medium of textual transmission on the other. In the course of the paper, some aspects and problems of chapter 11 of version 2.0.0 of TEI P5 (the definition and use of the elements <line> and <mod> and related issues) will be discussed.

    Der Aufsatz analysiert die Sudelbuchaufzeichnung J 528 als Modellstudie zu grundsätzlichen aufklärerischen Fragen und als Beispiel für Lichtenbergs besonderes Denk- und Schreibverfahren in drei Hinsichten: 1) in epistemologischer beleuchtet Lichtenbergs Text das Verhältnis der Vernunft zu anthropologischen und sozialen Faktoren und gibt eine Art Genealogie des Rationalen; 2) in methodologischer und poetologischer ist der Text ein Paradigma für den Transfer wissenschaftlicher Methodik auf nichtwissenschaftliche Gegenstände; 3) in rezeptionstheoretischer findet diese Poetik ihr Pendant in einer von Lichtenberg ebenfalls bedachten aktiven, gegenstandgenerierenden Lektüre. In anderen Notaten in den Sudelbüchern ist er wahrnehmungsphysiologischen und -psychologischen Problemen auf der Spur, die die Gestalttheorie des 20. Jahrhunderts beschäftigen werden. Kritisch gegen selbstverschuldete Unmündigkeit wie gegen Rationalismus betreibt er Aufklärung über Aufklärung. The essay analyses the aphorism J 528 in Lichtenberg’s Sudelbüchern as a model study of elementary questions and interests of the enlightenment, and as an example of the author’s specific way of thinking and writing focusing on three aspects: 1) epistemological: Lichtenberg’s text deals with the relationship between reason and anthropological as well as social factors, offering a kind of genealogy of rational behavior; 2) methodological and poetological: The text is a paradigm of Lichtenberg’s transferring scientific method to non-scientific subjects; 3) reception: Lichtenberg’s poetics find their complement in a specific way of reading: The reader has to be as active as the writer and is invited to do similar scientific experiments as does the observer of the public place he reads about. In other notes in the Sudelbücher, Lichtenberg attends to problems of physiology and psychology of perception as, in the 20th century, they will be a main issue in the theory of Gestalt. As Lichtenberg’s way of thinking and writing is a criticism of self imposed immaturity as well as of dogmatic rationalism, enlightenment itself is enlightened.
