    Die Studie untersucht die vielfachen Verbindungen zwischen Texten aus dem deutschen, katalanischen und spanischen Kontext, die unter den Bedingungen der Migration entstehen und den Rahmen der Nationalliteratur sprengen. Anhand der Werke Emine Sevgi Özdamars, Feridun Zaimoglus, Najat El Hachmis und Pius Alibeks werden motivische, strukturelle und stilistische Ähnlichkeiten im Bereich Geschlecht, Raum und Sprache herausgearbeitet. Ohne signifikante Unterschiede zu leugnen, wird gezeigt, dass die zunehmende Durchdringung von Kulturen im Zeitalter der Globalisierung literarische Konsequenzen hat und zu wichtigen Verflechtungen zwischen Texten unterschiedlicher Herkunft führt. Diese Relationen und Differenzen werden unter dem Leitbegriff der Transkulturalität erfasst. Durch die kritische Diskussion aktueller Theorieansätze und literaturgeschichtlicher Modelle wird die Relevanz einer sprachübergreifenden und transkulturellen Analyse von Literatur deutlich.

    The cultural and linguistic diversity of the Iberian Peninsula calls for research practices that go beyond the methodological nationalism of Portuguese and Spanish Philology and History. Iberian Studies is an emerging epistemological field that approaches the complexity of the Iberian Peninsula and analyses its different literatures, identities, cultures and history from a comparative and interdisciplinary perspective.Iberian Studies: Reflections Across Borders and Disciplines provides insights into theoretical debates on Iberian Studies. The case studies included in the volume engage with cultural history, centre and periphery dynamics, memory and nationalism and the renewed interest in the Islamic and Sephardic in 21st century Spain and Portugal.

    Die Studie untersucht die vielfachen Verbindungen zwischen Texten aus dem deutschen, katalanischen und spanischen Kontext, die unter den Bedingungen der Migration entstehen und den Rahmen der Nationalliteratur sprengen. Anhand der Werke Emine Sevgi Özdamars, Feridun Zaimoglus, Najat El Hachmis und Pius Alibeks werden motivische, strukturelle und stilistische Ähnlichkeiten im Bereich Geschlecht, Raum und Sprache herausgearbeitet. Ohne signifikante Unterschiede zu leugnen, wird gezeigt, dass die zunehmende Durchdringung von Kulturen im Zeitalter der Globalisierung literarische Konsequenzen hat und zu wichtigen Verflechtungen zwischen Texten unterschiedlicher Herkunft führt. Diese Relationen und Differenzen werden unter dem Leitbegriff der Transkulturalität erfasst. Durch die kritische Diskussion aktueller Theorieansätze und literaturgeschichtlicher Modelle wird die Relevanz einer sprachübergreifenden und transkulturellen Analyse von Literatur deutlich.

    This book contributes to bridge the gap between different scholarly communities interested in the entanglements of culture and politics in the international arena. It sheds light on existing connections in their parallel evolution with a thorough literature review, complemented by several case studies showing the fruitful character of their interdisciplinary mobilisation. Through the notions of cultural relations, intellectual cooperation and cultural diplomacy, the book draws on a soft power perspective to offer a shared, novel, and interdisciplinary theoretical framework to approach cultural institutions and organisations that have been previously examined as isolated objects: for example, cultural institutes, international organisations, literary magazines, and literary contests. The interdisciplinary nature of this volume justifies the relevance of its content for scholars working in the history of international relations, international cultural relations and intellectual history, comparative literature, sociology of literature and global literary studies.
