Die 20. Ausgabe von undercurrents – Forum für linke Literaturwissenschaft widmet sich dem Politischen in der Kinder- und Jugendliteratur (KJL). Gesucht werden Beiträge, die sich mit politischen Dimensionen der KJL befassen – von expliziten Beispielen wie politischen Fibeln bis hin zu subtilen Erzählweisen. Das Heft fragt nach historischen Entwicklungen, ideologischen Prägungen, ästhetischen Verfahren sowie aktuellen Themen wie Flucht, Klimakrise und Rechtsruck. Willkommen sind sowohl systematische und historische Analysen sowie Untersuchungen zu Autor*innen, Genres, und institutionellen Kontexten.

CFP: What Is the Political in Children’s and Young Adult Literature?
The 20th issue of undercurrents – Forum für linke Literaturwissenschaft focuses on the political dimensions of children’s and young adult literature (CYAL). We welcome contributions that explore political aspects of this literary field – from overt examples like ideological primers to more subtle narrative forms. The issue invites inquiries into historical developments, ideological influences, aesthetic strategies, and contemporary issues such as migration, the climate crisis, and the rise of the far right. Submissions may include theoretical and historical reflections as well as analyses of authors, genres, themes, or institutional contexts.
