"Named Entity Recognition (NER) and Digital Text Annotation and Analysis with CATMA"
Named Entity Recognition (NER) and Digital Text Annotation and Analysis with CATMA
Finding Names automatically and annotating characters in fiction may seem to be two different methods in Digital Humanities Research at first sight. But in our workshop we attempt to show that they can complement each other very fruitfully. In a mixture of presentation and hands-on sessions we show you how to preprocess a work of fiction with Named Entity Recognition, import the outcome into the annotation tool CATMA, analyse it here and enrich it with manuell annotations. To round up our case study, we visualize our annotations in CATMA and interpret our findings.
