Er gibt zunächst Kommentare zu Goethes "Wilhelm Meisters Lehrjahre", dem Roman, der als Modell für alle anderen Bildungsromane fungierte. Es wird die Hypothese aufgestellt, dass es Goethe um eine Verbindung von Tat und Kontemplation ging.     Este trabalho tem como objetivo analisar a construção das Stimmungen (atmosferas) na livre-adaptação do Fausto de Goethe realizada, em 2011, pelo diretor russo Aleksandr Sokurov. Dentro dessa perspectiva, buscaremos demonstrar, particularmente, como o diálogo entre Sokurov e Goethe não se dá somente no domínio do enredo, mas também no modo peculiar como ambos se utilizam da técnica como forma de modulação dos afetos dos espectadores. This work aims at analyzing the construction of the Stimmungen (atmospheres) in the free-adaptation of the Goethe's Faust made in 2011 by the Russian director Aleksandr Sokurov. Within this perspective, we seek to demonstrate in particular how the dialogue between Sokurov and Goethe does not happen only in realm of the plot, but also in the peculiar way in which both use the technique as a way of modulating the spectators’ affections.

    Concebido para suprir as lacunas de uma existência que se tornara pública e notória com a publicação do "Werther", o relato autobiográfico de "Dichtung und Wahrheit" dedicará boa parte das quase 300 páginas de seus sete últimos livros à narração das circunstâncias que teriam possibilitado a Goethe encontrar um campo de atuação e influência compatíveis com a estrondosa repercussão do "Werther", mas ao mesmo tempo condizentes com uma vocação poética a que Goethe recusa qualquer interferência direta e 'didática' nos assuntos humanos, visto como passa a concebê-la 'inteiramente como natureza'. O artigo se propõe passar em revista esse momento decisivo de elaboração da 'Bildung' goethiana compreendido sobretudo nos livros 13 a 16, o qual coincide com a definição dos fundamentos da vocação poética que marcará a fisionomia espiritual da produção de Goethe vida afora. Para tanto, investigará a pertinência do conceito de teleologia como princípio explicativo oportuno à elucidação do referido momento, à luz da discussão proposta por Fotis Jannidis (1996); e analisará o papel das referências e influências que maior importância tiveram para Goethe nesse processo: Lavater, Basedow e Zimmermann, entre os convivas, Spinoza e Prometeu entre os luminares. Designed to fill in the gaps of an existence that became widely known with the publication of "Werther", the autobiographical account of "Dichtung und Wahrheit" will devote much of the last seven books to the narration of circumstances that would have enabled Goethe to find a field of work compatible with the strident repercussion of "Werther", but at the same time consistent with a poetic vocation to which Goethe refuses any direct and 'didactic' interference in human affairs, since he begins to conceive it 'entirely as nature'. The article intends to review this decisive moment in the construction of the Goethean 'Bildung', mainly between books 13 and 16, together with a definition of the foundations of the poetic vocation that will mark the spiritual shape of Goethe's production throughout his life. To do so, it will investigate the suitability of the concept of teleology as a proper explanatory principle for the clarification of the moment mentioned above, in the light of the discussion proposed by Fotis Jannidis (1996); and it will analyze the role of the most important references and influences for Goethe in this process: Lavater, Basedow and Zimmermann among the acquaintences; Spinoza and Prometheus among the luminaries.

    O biênio de 2016-2017 marca o duplo centenário da publicação original da Viagem à Itália, de Goethe. Depois de décadas de distância, Goethe finalmente publica esse que seria seu testemunho formativo, a autobiografia de uma transformação radical. A história do texto e da viagem que lhe deu origem revela, porém, que esse enredo não é tão simples e unidirecional, mas está permeado de hesitações e retomadas, cenas míticas e retornos anacrônicos. A intenção desse artigo é mapear, assim, as múltiplas camadas - para usar o modelo geológico de Reinhart Koselleck - de tempo e, principalmente, de extemporaneidade que se entretecem no relato italiano. Pretendemos chamar a atenção para algumas (outras) riquezas da obra goethiana: seu intenso páthos memorativo, sua oposição aos grandes de seu século, sua entronização na literatura alemã, entre outras. The biennium 2016-2017 marks the bicentenary of the original publication of Goethe's Italian Journey. After decades, Goethe finally issues the last testimony of his Bildung, the autobiography of a radical transformation. Yet, the history of the text and of the original journey reveals that this story is far from being as simple and unidirectional as it seems, but is imbued with hesitations and retakes, mythical scenes and anachronous returns. This article's aim is to map out the multiple layers - utilizing Reinhart Koselleck's geological model - of time and, mainly, of untimeliness that are interwoven in Goethe's Italian report. We intend to draw attention to some (other) treasures of Goethe‟s work: its strong memorial pathos, its opposition to great men and works of his time, its enthronement in German literature, among others.

    This article analyses the parallels between, on the one hand, the portrayal of the 'struggling modern subject' depicted by Goethe in his "Die Leiden des jungen Werthers" and, on the other, the psychosocial profile of the 'sentimental man' from the 18th century, product of the cultural environment of the Empfindsamkeit. I argue that in this novel, in borrowing the Empfindsamkeit's most traditional literary genre — the epistolary novel —, Goethe ends up mimicking a number of topoi and discursive techniques proper to this tradition, though in a radically heterodox fashion. The approach will lead us to a deduction of Goethe's own views on the modern subject, which situates him as an important figure within the discourse of modernity. O artigo analisa os paralelos entre o retrato do 'sujeito moderno em crise' visto no romance "Die Leiden des jungen Werthers" de Goethe e, por outro lado, o perfil psicossocial do 'homem do sentimento' do século XVIII, fruto da cultura da Empfindsamkeit. Defendo a perspectiva de que, no romance, Goethe não apenas se utiliza do formato literário mais tradicional da Empfindsamkeit (o do romance epistolar), como também se apropria de topói e técnicas discursivas que lhe são próprias em registro radicalmente heterodoxo. A argumentação nos ligará a uma dedução da visão do conceito de subjetividade moderna com que Goethe trabalha em sua fase final do Sturm und Drang, e que o situa como importante nome do discurso filosófico da modernidade.

Defendo a perspectiva de que, no romance, Goethe não apenas se utiliza do formato literário mais tradicional da Empfindsamkeit (o do romance epistolar), como também se apropria de topói e técnicas discursivas que lhe são próprias em registro radicalmente heterodoxo. A argumentação nos ligará a uma dedução da visão do conceito de subjetividade moderna com que Goethe trabalha em sua fase final do Sturm und Drang, e que o situa como importante nome do discurso filosófico da modernidade.

    Este artigo explora a noção de extemporaneidade tomada como um traço distintivo do modelo temporal adotado pelos classicistas de Weimar, por Goethe em particular. Concebe o "extemporâneo" como um preceito e uma prática que supõe um movimento de dissociação do tempo presente e da pessoa do autor. Com base no ensaio "Sansculottismo literário" e na tradução da "Vida" de Benvenuto Cellini, publicadas originalmente no periódico "As Horas" ("Die Horen"), procuro esboçar o elo entre a resposta à Revolução Francesa e a reflexão sobre autoria, e discutir os limites da "extemporaneidade" de Goethe como meio de implementar a autonomia artística.     Concebido para suprir as lacunas de uma existência que se tornara pública e notória com a publicação do "Werther", o relato autobiográfico de "Dichtung und Wahrheit" dedicará boa parte das quase 300 páginas de seus sete últimos livros à narração das circunstâncias que teriam possibilitado a Goethe encontrar um campo de atuação e influência compatíveis com a estrondosa repercussão do "Werther", mas ao mesmo tempo condizentes com uma vocação poética a que Goethe recusa qualquer interferência direta e 'didática' nos assuntos humanos, visto como passa a concebê-la 'inteiramente como natureza'. O artigo se propõe passar em revista esse momento decisivo de elaboração da 'Bildung' goethiana compreendido sobretudo nos livros 13 a 16, o qual coincide com a definição dos fundamentos da vocação poética que marcará a fisionomia espiritual da produção de Goethe vida afora. Para tanto, investigará a pertinência do conceito de teleologia como princípio explicativo oportuno à elucidação do referido momento, à luz da discussão proposta por Fotis Jannidis (1996); e analisará o papel das referências e influências que maior importância tiveram para Goethe nesse processo: Lavater, Basedow e Zimmermann, entre os convivas, Spinoza e Prometeu entre os luminares. ; Designed to fill in the gaps of an existence that became widely known with the publication of "Werther", the autobiographical account of "Dichtung und Wahrheit" will devote much of the last seven books to the narration of circumstances that would have enabled Goethe to find a field of work compatible with the strident repercussion of "Werther", but at the same time consistent with a poetic vocation to which Goethe refuses any direct and 'didactic' interference in human affairs, since he begins to conceive it 'entirely as nature'. The article intends to review this decisive moment in the construction of the Goethean 'Bildung', mainly between books 13 and 16, together with a definition of the foundations of the poetic vocation that will mark the spiritual shape of Goethe's ...
