    ger: Diese Diplomarbeit behandelt die Darstellung der Geschlechtsidentitäten an ausgewählten Quellen zur Geschichte der Kreuzzüge. Es werden ausschließlich die Kreuzzüge in den Orient 1095 bis ca. 1186 behandelt. Drei Werke wurden ausgewählt: die Historia Hierosolymitanae expeditionis seu Chronicon Hierosolymitanum de bello sacro Alberts von Aachen, die Historia Hierosolymitana Fulchers von Chartres und die Historia rerum in partibus transmarinis gestarum des Erzbischofs Wilhelm von Tyrus. Die mittelalterlichen Chronisten kannten keine Geschlechtsidentitäten im modernen Sinn. Um ihre Vorstellungen über solche zu erschließen, ist die Intention eines Werkes wichtig. Besonders in Quellen, die die Menschen belehren und zum richtigen, christlichen Verhalten anhalten sollen, finden sich Angaben über menschliche Verhaltensweisen. Je nach Autor lassen sich deren Vorstellungen von Identität daher mehr oder weniger durch solche Hinweise herausfiltern. Auch Berichte über Körperlichkeit, Sexualität und Ehe ermöglichen Einsichten in ihre Vorstellungen über Geschlechtsidentitäten. Wichtig ist, dass man sich mittelalterlichen Geschlechtsidentitäten, wenn überhaupt, daher nur annähern kann. Den Hauptteil der Arbeit bildet die Untersuchung der drei Quellen hinsichtlich derzeit in der Genderforschung relevanter Fragen, auf die Darstellung der Geschlechtsidentitäten wird besonderer Wert gelegt. Zu beachten ist ferner, dass sämtliche Kreuzzugsberichte von geistlichen Männern verfasst wurden. Über Frauen berichten die Chronisten in verschiedenem Ausmaß. Der Schwerpunkt der Darstellung liegt aber eindeutig bei den männlichen Taten. Frauen spielen eine Nebenrolle. Sie werden besonders bei Berichten über moralische Verfehlungen der Kreuzfahrer erwähnt, sie erscheinen dabei als Auslöser der Unzucht innerhalb des Kreuzfahrerheeres. Manchmal äußern sich die Chronisten auch positiv über sie. Insgesamt sind Frauen immer das Objekt der Darstellung, stets das Gegenüber der Autoren, das Andere. eng: This treatise has the representation of male and female identities in selected sources to the history of the Crusades to the content. It will only treat the medieval Crusades to the East 1095 to approximately 1186. Three sources for this period were selected: Historia Hierosolymitana expeditionis seu Chronicon Hierosolymitanum de bello sacro of Albert of Aix, Historia Hierosolymitana of Fulcher of Chartres and Historia rerum in partibus transmarinis gestarum of Archbishop William of Tyre. The medieval historians knew no gender identities in modern sense. For the exploration of their ideas about identities, the intention of the work is important. Especially sources, which teach people to the right, Christian behavior, deliver information about human behavior. Depending to the author their conceptions of identity can be revealed more or less through such evidences about the behavior and the properties, which they assign to the sexes. Also reports from the authors about physicality, sexuality and marriage give insights into their ideas of gender identities. It should be noted that, if at all, it?s only possible to approximate medieval gender identities.The main part of the work is the investigation of the three named sources with regard to within the Gender-Studies relevant issues, the representation of gender identities is of specific value. Note also that all these reports were written by religious crusading men. About women is reported by the chroniclers in varying degrees. General should be noted, however, that the emphasis is clearly placed in the male acts. Women play a subordinate role. The authors report about them, especially in connection with moral failings of the crusaders, they seem particularly as the trigger for adultery within the Crusader army. Sometimes historians speak positively about them. Overall, women are always the object of representation, always the opposite of the authors, the other.

    ger: Im Zuge der vorliegenden Masterarbeit werden die Frauenfiguren der Kunstmärchen des 17. und 18. Jahrhunderts und der feministischen Kunstmärchen des 20. Jahrhunderts analysiert. Dies geschieht auf Basis der Annahme, dass es sich bei der Darstellung der Heldinnen und der Handlungszusammenhänge, in denen sie beschrieben werden, um Imaginationen, konventionelle Konstrukte im Umfeld der Weiblichkeit handelt, die sich aus den realhistorischen Umständen der jeweiligen Epoche ergeben und auch in dieser Weise erklärt werden können. Vor dem Hintergrund des theoretischen Konzeptes der Gender Studies und unter Berücksichtigung des geschichtlichen Kontextes werden die Kunstmärchen dieser beiden Epochen gegenübergestellt.Die Schreiberinnen des 17. und 18. Jahrhunderts sind von ihrer ambivalente Stellung zwischen der repressiv organisierten Gesellschaftsordnung der Aufklärung und ihrer vergleichsweise hohen soziale Stellung geprägt, was gewisse Inkongruenzen in der Darstellung der Frauenfiguren in den Märchen hervorruft. Die Attribute der Heldinnen, die in dieser Form bei den männlichen Verfassern der Epoche nicht zu finden sind, weisen durchaus Parallelen zu den Verfasserinnen selbst auf, die als Vorbilder und Instanzen für die Erziehung der aristokratischen Jugend galten. Allerdings propagieren die Kunstmärchen als Hilfsmittel für didaktische Zwecke nichtsdestoweniger die streng hierarchisierte Gesellschaftsordnung der Aufklärung.Die feministischen Autorinnen der Kunstmärchen des 20. Jahrhunderts hingegen setzen sich zum Ziel, die in den traditionellen Märchen festgeschriebenen Konstruktionen der Frauen und die Idealisierung des ihr zugewiesenen Platzes in der Gesellschaft zugunsten der Darstellung von emanzipierten weiblichen Figuren aufzulösen. Queer-feministische, dekonstruktivistische und postmoderne Ansätze sind es, die als Ausgangstheorien dienen, um die binäre Kategorisierung des Geschlechterverhältnisses aufzulösen und imaginäre Alternativkonzepte vorzustellen. eng: In the course of the present master?s thesis, female characters of the literary fairy tales of the 17th and 18th century are being analyzed and compared to those found in the feminist fairy tales of the 20th century. The basic assumption is, that the representation of heroines and their role in the story progression is a result of imaginations, conventional constructions of femininity and can bee seen as a consequence to the historical circumstances of the century. Against the background of the theoretical concept of Gender Studies with particular reference to the historical situation, the literary products especially of the female aristocrats and the feminist literary fairy tales in German contemporary literature will be taken into consideration.The female writers of the 17th and 18th century are characterized by their ambivalent position between the Enlightenment?s repressive social order and their comparatively high social status, which creates a certain incongruence of the representation of their female characters. The heroine?s symbols and characteristics show quite interesting parallels to the author herself, which cannot be found in the fairy tales by male writers of the same century. The female writers, however, are being regarded as role models and authorities for the aristocrat?s youth education. Thus, the literary fairy tales were used as didactic displays of idealistic individuals and ways of acting, still reflecting the Enlightenment?s strict hierarchical social order.In antithesis to that, feminist female authors of the 20th century are setting their target to erase the constructions, which were determined in the traditional fairy-tales, to exchange the idealization of the woman?s position in society in favour of the presentation of emancipated female characters. Queer-feminist, deconstructivist and post modernistic approaches are the basic theories to disperse the binary categories of sex ratio and to present alternative imaginary concepts.

    ger: Die vorliegende Arbeit setzt sich mit verschiedenen Problematiken entlang der Grenze zwischen den USA und Mexiko auseinander. Sie behandelt die allgemeine (Lebens)Situation an der Grenze, die Arbeitsbedingungen in den Maquiladoras, den zahlreichen mit ausländischem Kapital finanzierten Fabriken, Dominanzverhältnisse zwischen den Nachbarländern und widmet sich dem Stellenwert mexikanischer Frauen vor dem Hintergrund unzähliger Frauenmorde. Zunächst wird Mexikos wirtschaftliche und politische Lage und dessen Beziehung zu den USA dargestellt. Die Maquiladoras werden in ihren Vor- und Nachteilen für Mexiko beschrieben, wobei auch auf die Auswirkungen für die Umwelt eingegangen wird. Zudem werden die tatsächlichen menschenunwürdigen Arbeitsbedingungen der Fabriken aufgezeigt. Des Weiteren wird die Feminisierung der Arbeitskraft in Lateinamerika und die Bedeutung der Frauen für die Maquiladora-Industrie thematisiert. Die literarische Basis liefern Mujer alabastrina von Víctor Bartoli Herrera, La frontera de cristal von Carlos Fuentes, La frontière von Patrick Bard und Ciudad final von Kama Gutier. In der Analyse der Werke werden die verschiedenen Herangehensweisen der Autoren an die Problematiken der Grenze sowie deren inhaltliche Schwerpunkte aufgezeigt. Während Patrick Bard das Thema aus der Sicht eines Journalisten behandelt, nähert sich Kama Gutier über kriminologische Untersuchungen den Ursachen der Morde. In Mujer alabastrina und La frontera de cristal erzählen betroffene Frauen aus ihrer Perspektive über das ihnen widerfahrene Leid. Dabei zeichnen sie auch ein grobes Bild der wirtschaftlichen und politischen Situation im Grenzgebiet zu den USA. Zudem werden, je nach Bedeutung für das Werk, auch sprachliche Besonderheiten hervorgehoben. Ergänzt werden die literarischen Darstellungen durch die Filme Bordertown und Backyard/Traspatio, welche die Thematik visuell umsetzen. eng: This master?s thesis deals with problems along the border between the United States of America and Mexico. It describes the general (living) situation at the border, the working conditions in the maquiladoras, which are financed by foreign investors, dominance relations between the two neighboring countries and the value of Mexican women against the background of countless femicides.First of all, the thesis discusses Mexico's economic and political situation and its relationship to the United States of America. Both the advantages and disadvantages of the maquiladoras for Mexico as well as their impact on the environment are examined. In addition, the inhumane working conditions in the factories are described. Finally, the feminization of labor in Latin America and the importance of women in the maquiladora industry are discussed.The following novels are used in the literary analysis: Mujer alabastrina by Víctor Bartoli Herrera, La frontera de cristal by Carlos Fuentes, La frontière by Patrick Bard and Ciudad final by Kama Gutier. The analyses of the novels focus on the presentation of the main subjects and highlight the different approaches of the authors to the border-related problems. While Patrick Bard addresses the theme from the perspective of a journalist, Kama Gutier takes a criminological approach. In Mujer alabastrina and La frontera de cristal women talk about the suffering they have experienced and also draw a rough picture of the economic and political situation in the region bordering the United States. In addition, linguistic characteristics are highlighted, depending on their importance in the novels.The two films Bordertown, by Gregory Nava, and Back Yard / Traspatio, written by Sabina Berman and directed by Carlos Carrera, complement the literary analyses and provide a visual impression of the problems and issues related to the maquiladoras.

    How can humour and irony in writing both create and destroy boundaries? In the Belly of a Laughing God examines how eight contemporary Native women poets in Canada and the United States - Joy Harjo, Louise Halfe, Kimberly Blaeser, Marilyn Dumont, Diane Glancy, Jeannette Armstrong, Wendy Rose, and Marie Annharte Baker - employ humour and irony to address the intricacies of race, gender, and nationality. While recognizing that humour and irony are often employed as methods of resistance, this careful analysis also acknowledges the ways that they can be used to assert or restore order.Using the framework of humour and irony, five themes emerge from the words of these poets: religious transformations; generic transformations; history, memory, and the nation; photography and representational visibility; and land and the significance of 'home.' Through the double-voice discourse of irony and the textual surprises of humour, these poets challenge hegemonic renderings of themselves and their cultures, even as they enforce their own cultural norms
