    This book investigates the relationship developed between the researcher/evaluator and the commissioning arts and cultural producer in providing an opportunity to rethink the traditional process of reporting back on value and impact through the singular entity of funds acquittal. Using three commissioned evaluations as examples, the discussion outlines the two positions most often adopted by researchers/evaluators, external and distanced or embedded and collaborative, and will argue the merits and deficiencies of the two approaches. This text also investigates the role of the researcher/evaluator as a broker of stakeholder interests; how cultural organizations can partner in data gathering and develop a participatory approach to the research; what role the researcher/evaluator can have in the dissemination of evaluation findings and recommendations; and makes recommendations on which partnership type is more affective in a commissioned evaluation model for an arts and culture organization in the Australian landscape. Sandra Gattenhof is Head of Drama in the Creative Industries Faculty, Queensland University of Technology. Sandra specialises in drama/arts in schools & communities, postdramatic theatre and contemporary performance for children and young people. She is a former Vice President of the International Drama/Theatre and Education Association (IDEA); Drama Australia President and its Director of Arts Education and Industry Partnerships; Drama Queensland President; and a Chair or Board member of a number of youth arts organizations at national and state levels.     Large-scale investments in natural resources (extractives as well as agriculture) can help transform African economies by accelerating economic growth, creating jobs and strengthening the links between local economies and the global economy more broadly. However, they often end up violating rights, which in turn may lead to social protests and political instability. This Working Paper develops an analytical framework for analysing the implementation of large-scale investments in natural resources. It focuses on the triangular relations between investors, local populations and ruling elites. The framework treats the outcomes of these triangular relationships as involving "reciprocal exchange deals" between investors and local populations, "compatible interests" between ruling elites and investors, and "productive social relations" between local populations and ruling elites. We show that, in order to understand why some investments are implemented more successfully than others, it is necessary to grasp the politics behind an investment. The paper also explores the conditions under which investments can be implemented without violating the rights of local populations. The paper is based on a review of the relevant bodies of literature and is linked to ongoing empirical studies of large-scale natural resource investments in Mozambique, Tanzania and Uganda related to gas/oil, mining and agriculture.

This book challenges and enhances standard 'critical' narratives of statebuilding by exploring the historical experiences and interpretive frameworks of the people targeted by intervention. Drawing on face-to-face interviews, archival research, policy reviews and in-country participant-observations carried out over several years, the author challenges assumptions underpinning external interventions, such as the incapacity of 'local' agents to govern and the necessity of 'liberal' values in demanding better governance. The analysis focuses on Mozambique, long hailed as one of international donors' great success stories, but whose peaceful, prosperous, democratic future now hangs in the balance. The conclusions underscore the significance of thinking with rather than for the targets of state-building assistance, and appreciating the historical and material conditions which underpin these reform efforts."--

Gegenwärtig wird die Kontrolle über die Deutung von Vergangenheiten zu einem umstrittenen Gut im Kampf um politische Macht und ökonomische Ressourcen. Gerade in Krisenzeiten, aber auch angesichts konkurrierender medialer Einflüsse werden Behaup­tungen von Authentizität genutzt, um Ansprüche auf historische »Wahrheiten« oder »richtige« Erinnerungen durchzusetzen. Die Autorinnen und Autoren nehmen Transformationsprozesse und Krisensituationen in postkolonialen, postsozialistischen und postimperialen Gesellschaften in Europa, Asien und Afrika in den Blick und analysieren Prozesse des Authentisierens sowie konkurrierende Ansprüche auf Authentizität.     This study analyses the impact of the Russian food and agricultural import ban on import of meat, the structural changes of trade pattern and reallocation of import flows of meat and meat products, and the price development in the import market and its impact on producers and consumers market for cattle, pork and poultry meat in the Russian Federation (RF). There is empirical evidence that the collapse of meat exports to Russia and, hence, the increase of meat prices happened even long before the import ban was introduced. The structure of Russian import market for meat has significantly changed. Brazil became the largest meat exporter in the Russian meat import market achieving market share in the total meat import of the RF almost 50% in 2015-2016. The structural changes of the Russian import market suggests that the beef and pork exporters are not price-takers on the one hand. On the other hand, they may be able to discriminate prices in the Russian import markets. Diese Studie analysiert den Einfluss der russischen Einfuhrverbote von Lebensmitteln auf den Import von Fleisch, die Veränderung von Handelsstrukturen und die Umverteilung von Handelsströmen im Hinblick auf Fleisch und Fleischprodukte. Außerdem wird die Preisentwicklung auf dem Importmarkt und der sich ergebende Einfluss auf Produzenten und Konsumenten auf dem Markt hinsichtlich Rind-, Schwein- und Geflügelfleisch in Russland untersucht. Es gibt empirische Evidenz dafür, dass der Zusammenbruch der Fleischimporte nach Russland und damit der Anstieg der Preise für Fleisch- und Fleischwaren schon lange vor der Einführung des Einfuhrverbots geschah. Die Struktur des russischen Importmarktes für Fleisch hat sich erheblich verändert. Brasilien ist der größte Fleischexporteur auf dem russischen Fleischimportmarkt und erreichte zwischen 2015 und 2016 einen Marktanteil von fast 50% am gesamten Fleischimport Russlands. Die strukturellen Veränderungen des russischen Importmarktes legen nahe, dass die Rindfleisch- und Schweinefleisch-Exporteure einerseits keine Preisnehmer sind. Auf der anderen Seite sind sie offenbar in der Lage, Preise auf den russischen Importmärkten zu diskriminieren.

    Seit der ersten Klasse sind sie beste Freundinnen: Kim, 15, eher unauffällig, und Petrowna, klug, exzentrisch und daran gewöhnt, immer und überall den Ton anzugeben. Alles wird anders, als die beiden mit ihrer Klasse zu einer Schullesung gehen: Während die anderen tuscheln, sich die Haare kämmen oder aus dem Fenster schauen, wird Kim hellhörig, denn was die Autorin da vor sich hin nuschelt, handelt von ihr. Okay, es kommen andere Namen vor und ein paar unwichtige Details stimmen nicht, aber der Rest ist sie! Doch die Geschichte geht nicht gut aus, vor allem nicht für Jasper, Kims Klassenkameraden, der, wenn das Buch die Wahrheit sagt, am Ende an einem Wespenstich stirbt. Um das zu verhindern, bleibt Kim nichts anderes übrig, als ihr Leben völlig auf den Kopf zu stellen. Auf einmal macht sie alle möglichen Dinge zum ersten Mal, wie zum Beispiel Jasper zu küssen. Das aber passt Petrowna ganz und gar nicht ins Konzept ... (Verlag)
