    Abstract: This book explores Walter Benjamin, Siegfried Kracauer and Alexander Kluge's analyses of the role that a rejuvenation in the capacity for imagination can play in encouraging us to reconceive the possibilities of the past, the present, and the future outside of the parameters of the status quo. The concept of imagination to which the title of the book refers is not a strictly defined, stable concept, but rather a term which is employed to refer to a capacity that facilitates both an active, creative relationship to one's environment, and a process of mediation between the outside world and one's own experiences and memories.     Abstract: Welche Einstellungsänderungen sind - auf welche Weise - mit Informationen bei Lesern solcher Texte erreichbar? Diese Frage ist seit mehr als 50 Jahren von der empirischen Sozialforschung, der Kommunikationspsychologie und Sprachwissenschaft untersucht worden. Dabei standen sowohl Merkmale des Textes und des Autors als auch Eigenschaften des Lesers sowie der Kommunikationssituation im Mittelpunkt. Die vorliegende Studie versucht, die dabei erzielten, z.T. uneinheitlichen Forschungsergebnisse systematisch aufzuarbeiten und zusammenzufassen. Dazu wird die Methode der sog. Metaanalyse eingesetz, die wegen ihrer Explizitheit und Nachprüfbarkeit in den Sozialwissenschaften zunehmend herangezogen wird, wenn ein reichhaltiges schwer überschaubares Forschungsfeld bilanziert werden soll. Dabei werden nicht nur die Hauptfaktoren der Textpersuasion herausgearbeitet, sondern auch methodische Einsatzmöglichkeiten der Metaanalyse, die als exemplarische Leitlinien für ähnliche Analysen dienen könn

    "Es existieren mittlerweile zahlreiche empirische Untersuchungen zum Gesprächsverhalten von Männern und Frauen. Und doch ist es keinesfalls gelungen, pauschal ein grundsätzlich unterschiedliches geschlechtsspezifisches Gesprächsverhalten nachzuweisen. Auch wurde in diesem Zusammenhang vielfach die Gesprächswahrnehmung der Teilnehmerinnen und Teilnehmer vernachlässigt. An diesen Punkten setzt die vorliegende Masterarbeit an und ergründet in einer empirischen Studie die Fragestellungen, ob und inwieweit „Geschlecht“ innerhalb einer konkreten Interaktionssituation ausschlaggebend ist, inwieweit es im Gespräch konstruiert wird und Geschlechterdifferenzen aktiviert werden. Ebenfalls wird der Frage nachgegangen, inwieweit die Wahrnehmung und Beurteilung von Situation und Gesprächspartnern durch das eigene Geschlecht und das der Gesprächspartner beeinflusst und von einer stereotypen Geschlechtervorstellung gesteuert wird. Die theoretische Grundlage der Arbeit bildet der Ansatz des „Doing Gender“. Daraus abgeleitet, werden - die aktive und interaktive Herstellung von „Geschlecht“ und - die (eingefärbte) Wahrnehmung bezogen auf konkrete Interaktionssituationen untersucht. Das Vorgehen bei der Datenerhebung und Datenauswertung bildet dabei die Schnittstelle von Sprach- und Kommunikationswissenschaft. Mithilfe der „interaktiven Verfahren“ von Brinker und Sager werden anhand dreier gemischtgeschlechtlicher Kleingruppengespräche innerhalb des „lokalen und regionalen Managements“ die kommunikativen Praktiken, welche „Doing Gender“ deutlich machen, analysiert. Darüber hinaus wird die individuelle Gesprächswahrnehmung und -beurteilung ermittelt. Grundlage hierfür sind im Anschluss an die Gruppendiskussionen einzeln geführte Leitfadeninterviews, die mit der qualitativen Inhaltsanalyse nach Mayring ausgewertet werden. Ein Vergleich zwischen den in den Leitfadeninterviews gegebenen Einschätzungen und dem transkribierten Geschehen innerhalb der Gruppendiskussionen rundet die Analyse ab.     In spite of the fact that assessment criteria in general proficiency testing (GPT) is an area of extreme importance, being the expression of the underlying general proficiency construct, little has been said in the literature regarding the source of such assessment criteria. Unfortunately, even less has been done towards answering the important question of whether the application of exclusively teacher-based perceptions to GP assessment criteria is sound, given the act that context of use and test interpretation involves the general public. This paper outlines a rater cognition study that explored the GP construct by examining unguided reactions of 2 non-teacher native speakers (NSs) with 2 NS teachers. Notable quantitative and qualitative differences were found. The findings suggest that the construct of GP as rooted in the perspectives of teachers trained in the use of rating scales has questionable utility to the actual contexts where GP test scores will be interpreted, and where the abilities measured in GP tests will actually be used.

    eng: The tourism sector is of huge importance for the Austrian economy. In recent times, winter tourism became more and more important. However, winter tourism in Austria is not only about skiing anymore. The behavior of winter sports tourists in Austria is changing as more and more people do activities outside the ski resort. One of those activities that have increasingly emerged as a trend sport activity in the Alps within this decade is ski touring. As no prior research investigated the motivation and behavior of ski tourers, the question remains, what motivates these ski tourers and what behavioral patterns are characteristic for these types of winter sport tourists. Therefore, the aim of this paper was to examine the motivational factors of ski tourers and their behavior. Furthermore, this paper investigated the level of involvement and loyalty of ski tourers. On the basis of an online questionnaire, N=374 ski tourers predominantly from Austria and Germany participated in the study. The factor analysis of the motivational scale examined different dimensions showing that the dimension of Enjoying Nature is the most important motivational factor for ski tourers, followed by Fitness/Variety, Escape and Skill Development. A cluster analysis was used to categorize these dimensions into five different segments labeled: Relaxed ski tourers, Moderate ski tourers, Enthusiasts, Variety Seekers, and Unexcited ski tourers. Furthermore, this study examined a positive effect of involvement on the level of loyalty of ski tourers. Finally, recommendations for further research and implications are discussed.
