    ger: Mehrsprachiges Design hat das Potential, kulturellen Austausch zu fördern und somit Gemeinschaften zu schaffen und zu stärken. Am Beispiel von dem interkulturellen Projekt „Smashing Wor(l)ds: Kulturelle Praktiken zum Um/denken & Ver/lernen von Vokabularen“, das parallel in Österreich, Belgien und Polen stattfindet, untersucht diese Masterarbeit die Vorzüge von Sprachkombination im Kontext einer visuellen Identität. Dabei wird ein besonderer Fokus auf Typografie gelegt – anhand von Deutsch, Französisch, Polnisch und Englisch, wird der Umgang mit sprachlichen und visuellen Konventionen ergründet. Vor allem werden die Voraussetzungen und Herausforderungen in der Gestaltung mit verschiedenen Sprachen diskutiert. Die daraus resultierende visuelle Identität basiert auf einer systematischen Herangehensweise – wobei der sprachliche Aspekt sowohl das Kriterium als auch die Inspirationsquelle darstellt. eng: Multilingual design has the ability to connect and create communities, as it thrives on the cultural exchange that takes place every day in the global society. This Master's thesis explores the expressive potential of language combination through the visual identity design of "Smashing Wor(l)ds: Cultural Practices for re/Imagining & un/Learning Vocabularies", an international collaborative project taking place simultaneously in Austria, Belgium, and Poland. With a special focus on typography, it analyses the necessary requirements to compose with a foreign tongue, delving into the linguistic and visual conventions of German, French, Polish and English. As a whole, the visual identity's design is carried out from a systematic point of view, in which language becomes both criteria and inspiration.

Hierbei übernimmt die Schrift als der wichtigste Träger von Kommunikation eine herausragende Rolle. Designer müssen sich immer häufiger der Herausforderung stellen, nicht nur unterschiedliche Sprachen, sondern zwei oder sogar mehrere Schriftsysteme miteinander zu gestalten. Bi-Scriptual behandelt eingangs auf eher theoretischer Ebene Fragestellungen wie die soziokulturellen Beziehungen unterschiedlicher Schriftsysteme zueinander und die steigende Bedeutung soziokultureller Kommunikation. Nach einem generellen Abschnitt über die Praxis der bi-lingualen Gestaltung werden von Experten in den jeweiligen Sprachen acht Schriftsysteme in Beziehung zur lateinischen Schrift gesetzt.
