Deutsche Gesellschaft für Allgemeine und Vergleichende Literaturwissenschaft (DGAVL)

German Comparative Literature Association

The DGAVL is the scholarly association for Comparative Literature in Germany and Austria. Currently, approximately 380 comparatists are organised in the DGAVL. Every three years, the association holds a three-day conference. Additionally, the DGAVL acts as editor of the series Komparatistik. Jahrbuch der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Allgemeine und Vergleichende Literaturwissenschaft, published by Aisthesis Verlag since 2016 (before: Synchron).

Being the only scholarly association for Comparative Literature in Germany, the DGAVL is an important point of contact for the FID AVL. Announcements of new features, content and services on avldigital.de are sent out via the association's newsletter on a regular basis. Conversely, the DGAVL systematically makes use of the Networking module to disseminate news from the Comparative Literature community. Furthermore, the FID AVL archives the association's yearbook on CompaRe. DGAVL members profit from access to the exclusive e-book packages licensed by the FID AVL.
