    Abstract: This article aims on reflecting on the teaching process of the English language in Brazil starting from a perspective that contemplates the sociocultural factors and also the linguistic factors that might influence the learning of a foreign language. Weinreich, Labov and Herzog (2006 [1968]) see any linguistic changes as the result of a process of linguistic fit between variables internal to the linguistic system and those external to it (i.e. socioeconomic factors). Issues such as the Brazilian basic education system, proficiency evaluation, use of English with other speakers, and literacy issues can be considered as extralinguistic factors (external to the language, but which exert influence in it) that along with linguistic system factors, such as Interlanguage, can lead Brazilian speakers to develop a "Brazilian English" (in comparison toterms known as "British English" or "American English"), or to use this language as "lingua franca", to ensure that the purpose of any message

    Abstract: Portuguese Language teaching has faced sustained challenges which address both theoretical and methodological issues towards its practice. Such issues refer to significant practices that provide pupils with a responsive language action. In this context, this paper aims to highlight misspellings which entail the interference of oral language into the writing of second year high school students. For this purpose, we seek to answer the following questions: what are the influences/marks of oral language in written texts of high school students? And how to handle these influences and reverse them according to the grammars of Standard Portuguese? Thus, in order to answer these questions, we support our discussion in light of the works of Marcuschi (2008; 2010); Fávero, et al. (2000); Kato (2002); Bortoni-Ricardo (2004; 2005).     Abstract: Through this study, we develop a descriptive and comparative analysis of metaphorical sentences which contain verbs with iterative and cursive aspectual meanings. The corpus analyzed in this qualitative and quantitative research has a total of 129 metaphors of Brazilian Portuguese and English. The analysis and description of the data were performed from the Semantic Interaction Theory by Max Black (1993), because it understands and emphasizes that metaphor is a special phenomenon in which the terms that make up the statement interact creating a mental operation, in a view that the language creates reality and ways of thinking (Fossile, 2008a, 2008b, 2008c, 2011a, 2011b, 2012b, 2012c; Dias and Fossile 2014). The methodology used for this descriptive and comparative analysis of the metaphorical occurrences of Brazilian Portuguese and English was developed by Moura (2007) and Fossile (2008a; 2008b; 2008c, 2011a, 2012b, 2012c).     Abstract: This paper aims at doing a preliminary study of the recategorization in the process of referentation of the referent Cristo Redentor Statue, based on the analysis of three images taken from websites. We will use as theoretical framework the concepts postulated by Custódio Filho (2011), Bentes (2008), Cavalvante (2005), Dionísio (2011), Koch (2003, 2006), among others. In this study, we will follow what postulates Lima (2003, 2009, 2011), for whom the recategorization is a process understood in a cognitive and discourse dimension, so that allows its conception to be understood to the level of structures and cognitive functioning. We note that, due to be understanding of each materialized regarding the images, it is necessary to have, in advance, any knowledge concerning the situation in which it is inserted in order to recategorize the object of discourse in question

    Abstract: In this article we discuss the production of genres, mediated Didactic Sequence methodology through which to teach modularly a genre. Our goal is to demonstrate that the teaching of genres developed modularly can assist students in building properly texts. Thus, we describe part of an experiment carried out in a high school public school, in which students of 2nd year produced a movie review to be published in school and in a blog. For this, we base in authors like (Dolz et al., 2010) and (Bronckart, 2007), who consider language as a form of interaction and the genre as a tool through which students are able to develop the capabilities of language.     Abstract: This paper exposes the development of a written proposal in a 2nd year high school students in a rural school district Santa Terezinha in Itaporã-MS and a part of its results, to promote a reflection on new possibilities for work that contribute to close the gap between school written practices and extracurricular and their socio historical relations. We begin from the assumption that the writing is heterogeneously formed the linguistic facts do not separate the social practices (Corrêa, 2004). The proposal constituted the production of a Virtual Journal on Facebook, developed during the Portuguese classes. The analysis of news production and reporting, plus the comments made on the digital platform, enable linguistically show that there is no rigid boundary between writing practices of focused on writing culture and those of digital culture, as they suppose many educators. Furthermore, show that social networks in school can work as collaborators in a more efficient and meaningful

    Abstract: The political emancipation of the state of Tocantins, Brazil, occurred 28 years ago, The state is characterized by linguistic varieties due to the intense migratory flow of people hailing mainly from neighboring states of Maranhão, Piauí, Bahia and Pará. Porto Nacional, Pedro Afonso and Natividade, founded on the former northern region of the state of Goiás, are the towns with the highest number of immigrants. In fact, they are relevant historical places formed by autochthonous people and immigrants. Since the above-mentioned towns present important variation aspects of the spoken Portuguese language in Tocantins, current study identifies and analyzes rhotic pronunciation, graphematically represented by /R/ as a syllabic coda, in the three mentioned towns. Survey was undertaken with 24 topodynamic and topostatic informants distributed by gender and age. A exemplo do conto Cinderela que, ao ser recontada por surdos adultos, universitários, sobrevive com o título de Cinderela Surda. A literatura produzida por surdos usuários da língua de sinais evidencia sua inserção nos contos acrescentando a história de sua educação e a história do nascimento das comunidades surdas.
